The first extra charge is tricky but the rest are definitely viable.

Saves about half a second. This doesn't seem to be easy to get consistent but it should be possible with enough practice.

Without the damage boost this cycle skip is pretty tight, but with the damage boost it is fairly lenient. The high jump in the bonus to break the box is fairly tricky and requires good zigzag.

Dustiel found a new cycle skip after the crystal so I decided to show what the whole level should look like now. Your not meant to get hit twice in the bonus but apart from that this run through is a pretty good illustration of how this level should be played.

Finishing piston it like this means I don't have to wait for cycles at the start of Spaced out so these strats save about four seconds although they barely look different to my old strats.

Is there a reason you do the levels in this order? I would think going from left to right would be fastest, except of course for levels requiring colored gems.
Mask's. If you go this way you will avoided getting the 3rd mask power up, which (ironically) makes you go slower.
Ah, that makes sense. I knew he was taking intentional hits to avoid 3rd mask form, but didn't consider the new mask boxes showing up.

This play through was absolutely lethal, and i thought i had a pretty fast time for crash 2 but thats nothing compared to this, my time would be mean if i could do the repeating spin slide well

+Kyle McCormick Hold x the whole time, even during the bodyslam and delay the bodyslam for as long as possible. Also if you are on NTSC you need to use the metal jump box to the side.

Also, this is not a legit speed run, minute 42 contains a glitch where the water board is put on land. it is officially any %
All the console versions of this speed run do the same thing, technically it's not a glitch as the game allows you to do it. There aren't any wall jacks or anything in place, it just happens to be that when crash hits something that explodes he jumps in the air.
5 years late but no, it is acceptable since it can be done without any mods/tools and in the wr run superboomfan used it aswell and the run was verified as legit

I don't understand. So there are 157 boxes in total but you didn't have to break one to get the gem?

+Cecilia Castro The level only has 155 boxes but due to the box duplication glitch I do at 43:57 it is possible to get the box gem without breaking every box, you just break some boxes twice. This video explains it better than i probably could ua-cam.com/video/hxS2e1hs81s/v-deo.html.
At 7:40 you missed 3 boxes. How could you get the gem at the end of the level? o.O

+Apossium Oh yes, I haven't seen the timer. But well the stripes box is too far for being destroyed by the TNT, isn't it?
+Cilatorc If you watch the TNT blow up the boxes then the box will not be blown up, but if you get far enough away from the TNT before it blows up then the TNT will break the box.

+BlitzPhоenix98 I don't really know how to explain it properly, just glitch high jump on that part of the ceiling and you can get out of bounds to death abuse, it's easy to get stuck though.
Kalebo_III Very strange! But I see you won around 6 seconds using that glitch.
I think this death abuse is actually only about half a second quicker than dying normally, it does mean you don't have to worry about getting a slow drowning animation though.

Kill64 The timer keeps on ticking after entering the bonus round, the game just doesn't show it. I probably had about 5 seconds left before the yellow gem disappeared.

Fantastic run, I've watched plenty of Crash 2 speed runs and this one out-does them all, which says a lot considering each one is solid. I can't see anyone improving on it any time soon, let alone yourself. I suppose little things like getting the body-slam crate at 55:23 could shave a couple of seconds, but that's picking nits. I assume it's single segment too? Very impressive mate, well done. :)
