My passenger door makes that sound. Been making it for a few years now ever since Texas was covered in ice. Now my driver side door is stuck on lock... ugh. Idk if I can do all that but the money to fix 2 doors is not possible atm

Hi Derrick thank you very much for this video! It was really helpful. I needed to replace the latch as it wasn't cinching properly. Put in a junkyard unit as per your video and now it's working great! I do have one question though if you have any ideas, for some reason now (on both sides) the doors won't work on power when I pull the handle of the door from outside or inside. But the fob, and interior buttons all work. It's not the overhead kill switch, as the c pillar buttons do work. Only pulling the handle doesn't work power, everything else does. Any idea what I may have done to cause that or how to fix? Thanks!

interesting, so it was a pin tension/ connection issue, vs broken wiring... I'll give the wife's truck a quick wiggle and listen for changes when I clean the t-body ...

Why would you cut the factory harness - that’s no good. Fix the issue or De-pin the two wires so they can be put back in the future if someone wants to fix the issue properly.

Hey i knoe this is old but so how do i remove that part of the dadh jeut to get to that because tach isnt working at all and speedo is intermittent

My lock is buzzing, but it still locks and unlocks no problem. Do you know if this Is something I might be able to fix without replacing the actuator?

Does anyone know if the 2013 & 2014 Optima wiring harnesses are identical? I have this problem right now and would hate to cut the wrong wire.

www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#index If people would report this issue to NHTSA, then it would be noticed and maybe FCA would be forced to fix this safety issue for free. I have had people trapped in the back by this failure (that occurred with no "buzzing" sound as is supposedly the symptom.

Awesome video, however what do you do if the door wont open at all? Ive watched other videos and can move the actuator by hand but it still wont open. Have you dealt with that by chance?

Nice help! One thing you missed was the second “rubber sealed” access to the right side of the window. Or, at least mine had it. It was a great help as I got it fixed. Also, removing the window seal is a big help in removing the window. 🫡

FYI latch bolts are installed with thread lock...i promptly stripped 4 of the 6 screws bolts...

did the rod for the door lock actuator keep popping out?

when i took all the 10mm bolts off and removed the panel there are these two long rods that fell out with a metal wire attached to it one also has a spring and a plastic wheel could you tell me where those might go?

Anyone looking to do this. Disclaimer: Disconnect the BATTERY FIRST! it's annoying to do this unless you have this exact tool, or you bend a FLATHEAD screwdriver to make a homemade version. Two tips. 1) If you want, you can pop off the cluster trim, and take out the cluster/speedo (4 phillips head screws). This gives you extra space to insert a tool into the 3 entry points for the airbag clips (left right and bottom). Turn the steering wheel until you see the entry point at the 12 o'clock position. This will allow you to remove the airbag without having to remove the steering column/ignition plastic trim which requires 3 T20 screws to be removed. 2) When you put your tool inside, press the airbag like activating the horn. It should push your tool back and forth to let you know you're in the right place. What I found helps is to PUSH the airbag in the direction you want to release the clip. Hold it firm and apply force to your tool until it pops loose. I used the same pry tool as shown in this video. Very annoying procedure but if you have to do it, you'll get it after watching this video or the other one on the Nitro airbag clips locations. It would help if the tip of your pry tool is as flat as possible. Otherwise you will have to put some muscle into it to pry it off.

For anyone who wants to try an easier fix, I took the side of the door off like he does here, but in my case the actuator was stuck and would not move. I manually moved the rod that connects to the manual door lock and tried moving it back and forth, I also sprayed WD-40 and lithium grease spray into the hole where the rod goes into the actuator. I did not remove anything else, no window, etc. Obviously if the actuator is completely shot, you will probably have to follow this entire video procedure. But in my case I was able to rock the rod back and forth manually and got the actuator to move again. It makes a little buzz when locking but for me it was enough to get it working. Mine was stuck so that it wouldn't even manually lock or unlock. Thanks Derrick for the video that got me going in the right direction on how to get that panel off. Note also to get to the t15 screw you just pry the housing around the handle and it will easily come off to expose the screw.

Your awesome man, I’m a tech and I’ve never done one of these but when I did my diag time I found the actuator and regulator on the other side to be shot. This helped me out a lot man
