As a tip, it's best to jack up car in the rear so you can drain more ATF out.

The oil fill lid comes off that tube you took out, you took the fill lid off and the tube under it as well, you wouldn't have had to take the engine cover off to refill it

Anyone ever try sucking the oil out through the dipstick tube? My drainplug is stuck and ive mangled it badly trying to remove it. To avoid damaging the threads in the pan, im going to leave it alone for now. I have a pump and tubing similar to aquarium tubing size that i hope will snake past any difficult spots in the tube. This has been my first 3 hour and counting oil change. Ive never had a drain plug so stuck before and ive changed a lot of oil. Wish me luck!

And of course you measured the amount of fluid that came out to make sure you put the same back in, right? I know, I know, you can measure it afterward. I would measure it and replace the same amount then check the level after all is done.

I have that same car, sometimes when I'm driving that I'm in a traffic the alternator gives me a voltage of 11.50 volts it has happened to me some returns, I suspect that my alternator has a voltage drop on some occasions. And that can cause the engine to be unstable and shake in idle. But I'm not sure I should take the car to be diagnosed by the alternator.

The fact Volkswagen makes lug nuts so difficult to take off is ridiculous! I mean if you lose (or never had one in the the first place), you are pretty much screwed (no pun intended)! I have a 2003 Jetta. I got a flat tire. I tried to change it myself, but couldn't get passed the wheel lock. Called AAA but they couldn't help when they came. I called a number of tire sales shops, but they said they couldn't help me either if I didn't have the key. Went to the dealership, but they say don't carry the key locks, and can't order them since my car is so old. WTF!?!?
