You gotta do a couple of new runs with the expansion and see where the new factions land 😊
I don't think this game is depressing. I mean, we all like to kill humans in call of duty games. So no need to feel hypocritical about the theme. And why do you roll a die for picking a card?
Just landed on this video and it's a great list! Also, awesome to see the pandemic legacy framed, i did the exact same thing :)
From everything I'm seeing on this game I think I may just wait for a 3rd edition of it. That or a plethora of expansions to... expand on some of the mechanics that come up short. I've seen people bring up issues of being able to evacuate everyone before you're even close to the end causing you to have to play out the rest of the turns after having basically won, and issues with sometimes having long lulls in activity from the zeds. With there already talks of an expansion I think they are aware of the design gaps here.
Always believe in the Heart of the Cards!
Good advice! 🤣
I fall in love in this game. Very interesting and brutal. Fast and tension and you never know you win or lose until the end. On increase difficulty for now I can kill only Rageborn. Hope to see more your playtrough. Cheers
Hey, Oleg! Aeon’s Edge is a solid game. I sold my collection after exploring most of the first two wave as it just wasn’t getting to the table in my group and I don’t love deckbuilders in general. But I really did like a lot about what Aeon’s Edge does.
Any plans on doing story 2?
Unfortunately, no. City of Kings didn’t stay in the collection very long. It’s got some ideas I really liked but other games just do similar things better for my tastes.
Love watching these as background noise while I work :D Thanks for making them!
Awesome. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for this play through, it gave me the confidence to play the easy version of this scenario since the Ai Player sheets were distressing. Now after beating the scenario, it took me 8 hours or there about. Most of it was probably over analyzing what to buy, research, and prepare for. My Yellow Ai got like an extra dice per turn. Which was still interesting to fight against, while Red Ai was basically hidden behind a wall of black holes except for a very narrow path for them and myself to get to.
Glad the playthrough helped! I'm still looking forward to exploring the expansions in the future - just know I don't have the time to commit to that these days. :)
I’m seeing some things I was doing wrong with Tantrum. I thought the Wurm (and the other Like A dice) went onto Tantrum on the battlemap and it was static during the fight. Everyone who hit him got poisoned. I now see I was doing that wrong.
Yeah - most skill dice are single use once applied to a baddie, even ones that can be stored in a locked or active slot.
This play through helped. I just played my first game with Boomer and I was playing him completely wrong. I was not locking the scraps dice and I was rolling them from scratch and getting rid of them every single battle. That and I was resetting the grenade dice fight. No wonder why I was getting my butt kicked because it would take several times just to get the bombs going.
It’s a very understandable mistake! TMB can be a real bear to learn, esp since each gearloc can really be considered the equivalent of a whole new game.
offtopic: #26 for MVP ;) just incredible.
Maybe next year? 🤣
Hey man thanks for the videos, I wanted to ask a question, can a player move into an overrun space? Can civilians be crowd controlled through an over run space? Thanks,
Hey Carlos! I’m honestly not sure. I don’t remember the rules enough to answer either question. Good luck!
Thanks so much for using my dials!
Thanks again for passing them along!
Thanks for the playthrough. I've not watched since your Too Many Bones content.
Oh yeah - def need to get back to some Chip Theory games at some point. :) Thanks for the comment!
Are you going to do a 2024 version?
Hey Phillip! Not looking likely. Honestly not even sure I played enough new/new-to-me solo games in 2024 to justify it!
@@SoloPlaythroughs Well, I do think your top games have changed, based on things you have said in the last several months. Maybe something short would be good. I am interested in what you think! By the way, I just got and played Hoplomachus Victorum, and I absolutely love it. If I remember, you said you were waiting for the expansions that make the game shorter... fair. But you could split a campaign into 4 different videos and I think people (and certainly you) would enjoy it.
@ All good points! We’ll see. I’ll be making a bit of a personal announcement at the beginning of tomorrow’s livestream. Really won’t be much time for gaming or streaming in the next 6 months. (But I am looking forward to learning Hoplo at some point!!)
@@SoloPlaythroughs Hoplo is really an easy game to learn. Compared to a lot of games you play, it is child's work. As usual with those kinds of games, its not rules difficult, it is strategy difficult. I was able to be successful in Act 1 1 out of 2 times and then in Act 2 I got demolished pretty quickly. So I need to rethink my strategy...
@ That’s good to hear!
На моменте с Россией уже хотел уходить. 😂 Хороший рейтинг.
Thanks, Maksuka! 🙂
Just played this scenario for the first time and had to come looking for other's playthroughs just to make sure I wasnt insane... This scenario is a load of Shit LOL. Literally impossible to prevent the 3 damage from raids in the first ~3 or so turns (and thats at minimum, i ended up pulling a "story book" event almost every time. Theres no way to reduce it fast enough while also feeding yourself.
Oh yeah - the later scenarios in the base game are all wildly flawed IMO. Just brutally difficult…and not in an interesting way.
Top 10 out of 14?
Yep. Your mastery of numbers is enviable.
Thanks for all these Playthroughs! I am quite curious about your thoughts on Age of Innovation, with all of your Gaia experience.
You’re welcome, Sam! I’ve only play Age once…but I didn’t like it for two reasons. 1) The whimsical nature of the art does NOTHING positive for me - it really made me far less interested in the world of the game. 2) More importantly, I tend to strongly prefer games that have pre-built asymmetry that makes me have to learn how a certain entity “works” far more than I like games that have you draft into a brand new entity every game. In other words, I enjoy the satisfaction of mastering things that already exist then having to master being better at drafting some kind of strong (sometimes arguably broken) combos. So, while I would play Age again…I can guarantee I’d spend the entire time wishing I was playing Gaia.
@ Thanks for the insight, much appreciated! I bet you are excited for the Gaia expansion! (But do correct me if I am wrong, you are my Gaia expert to go to!)
@@mrsamtheman80 Already have it and played it once. So far, I really love it! They took a big swing here and it adds a lot of interesting depth to the game. 🙂
Hi Greg! when you will do the 2024 version?? Regards!
Hey Cristian! Unfortunately, I think my top 10s are a thing of the past. I'm just not able to play as many new games as I was and my time available for the channel has been drastically cut. Maybe I'll make a community post around the end of the year with my current top list though. :)
@@SoloPlaythroughs Thanks for the answer, and yes, priorities first. Regards!
Would you be Home for games 3,4, and 5?
Great question! But, no, as far as I remember from the rules, you are ALWAYS the visiting team against the automa.
@@SoloPlaythroughs Thanks, I've been playing it wrong. Now it'll be even harder not to hear "The human has been neutralized."
@@nagredmoonstriker252 😂 But at least you get a chance at a defensive save very game!
I disagree about Krang being the most handsome mage. Clearly, it is Braevalar. Have you seen his portrait? That beard, that rugged look… Unfortunately he looks nothing like that IRL…
Excellent points. Excellently made. 🤣
Just picked this up (I got the complete 1st KS package). I also picked up the complete 1st KS package of burncycle. Glad to see you are enjoying 20 Strong. I'm looking forward to trying it. Did you get burncycle? I'm pretty stoked about it.
Hey Phillip! Yeah - 20 Strong is a solid small box game. Need to play the other decks more but really like Solar Sentinels as an original IP. As for Burncycle, I played my friend’s copy twice and it is very much not for me. It does some good things but I mostly found it pretty dull and slightly disjointed mechanically. I get why others love it but I vastly prefer TMB and Cloudspire.
