MY FIRST SOLO TRIP | Shenandoah National Park
Переглядів 1,3 тис.3 роки тому
I had a solo adventure to Shenandoah National Park! Many people thought I was crazy for going alone, but honestly it’s such a revitalizing experience. At first I felt really anxious, lonely, uncomfortable and melancholy. I thought to myself, “why did I even want to do this?”. Then I reminded myself that feeling uncomfortable just means you have left your comfort zone. It means you are adapt...

Just a quick little trip in Philly! ☺ So I actually lost all this footage bUT I FOUND IT LAST NIGHT and finished editing it! This footage is from June 2019 (almost a year ago!). Since then, my boyfriend and I have broken up sooooooo kinda awkward but still wanted to post it for historical purposes (lol). Our trip to Philadelphia was quick, only a day or two, but it was still a blast. Our AirBnb...

Nature

It should be humans' utmost priority to protect our earth. Like we need nature to survive?? Plus, nature is just such a beautiful thing. Don't kill it (or I'll kill u). Make a change. Some people are so consumed with greed and their infatuation with money that they will do whatever like cut down BILLIONS of trees just for some money... NEWS FLASH: YOU CANT EAT MONEY. As a global community, we c...
my Son lives in Chippewa lake ,I want take him on this Awesome trail ,I live in Delaware
I gota google how far is Stowto Cuyahoga
You pronounced Cuyahoga so funny & wrong 😂. Its Ki-ya-ho-gah
Mt Baldy is generally closed to the public now (guided tours only). The reason? Well, ... 1. The foot traffic kills much of the vegetation that keep the dune from moving (it's currently taking over the parking lot by several feet each year) ... and movement like that can lead to ... 2. SINK HOLES. It's actually relatively dangerous to venture out there without a guide. The movement of the dune has caused living trees to be completely buried. They eventually die underneath the sand, and as they deteriorate, it leaves a void in the sand that can give way to anyone who happens to hike over it.. There was a boy got swallowed up by one several years ago. He was buried under 11 feet of sand for several hours. So yeah, the screams *could* have been a small sinkhole someone came across perhaps.
My husband and I went to Mt. Baldy years ago. We really liked it being from Central Indiana where everything is very flat. It was quite a chance of pace for us. Thanks for sharing
My least favorite National Park. Kind of a fraud for a National treasure. Surrounded by seel mills, power plants, pollution. Even the Department of Interior didn’t support the designation. Far better candidates up the shore in Michigan. You did a good job of showcasing the minimal features. Kudos.
Great video, I’m going this weekend and looking forward to it!
As a local, I don't recommend even stopping at Portage Beach because it is the worst spot in this park. The water is the dirtiest there. Any other spot is best.
ICONICCC
I will say Hi back… I experience the same time to time on hikes where I say hi and get no response. I just move on.
Are there bears?
I definitely didn’t see any! There are some bears in the park but the likelihood that you’ll see one, especially in heavily trafficked areas, are pretty slim :)
Nice video and info. Plan to visit soon with my family.
Love this thank you I will be here in August can't wait 😊
What month did you go
I went in early June!
Helpful, appreciate the info share (and for taking the time to make the video) -- ledges trail looked like one of the better ones, and blue hen falls also looked nice.
I love the CVNP! Glad you got to stop by. Blue Hen Falls is one of my favorite places to just hike and clear my mind. Hopefully you come again!
Is that Silver Spring in Stow Ohio where you are camping?
Yup! It was a really cute campsite :)
@@jesspetronzi I live across the street from the campground and walk my dog on the Trail every morning. I was shocked when I saw where you were. Not to many people know of it.
Your video was really well done. If ever you come back & want to go a little further North (few hrs by bus or car) try the grotto & waters at Lions Head/Tobermory area. There’s motels or camping & you won’t regret it.(look at pics or videos of grotto & the beach areas)
Ohio can be hilly or flat, no mountains.
Nice video. You picked some nice trails, visited most of the best natural features of the park, and looks like you had alot of fun! If you visit again, I would suggest taking the unmarked trail past Blue Hen Falls to Buttermilk Falls. It's gorgeous. Also, if you contine along the Buckeye Trail beyond Blue Hen Falls, you reach a point in the valley that is dominated by Hemlock and exposed rock. It's not a frequented part of the park, but is arguably the most beautiful forest landscape in the valley. Second, Beaver Marsh (not far from Szlays) is worth a visit, as it highlights one of the main reasons the Cuyahoga Valley is a national park. The site of the marsh used to be an urban dump, but cleanup began after the valley was declared a recreation area in the late 60's. By the early 90's, beavers had built dams in streams, which resulted in it becoming wetland. There's no longer any trace of the wasteland it once was. It's a shining example of the natural restoration of the valley and the Cuyahoga river. Kayaking along the river, or at least a hike along it is also highly recommended. Gorge Metropark provides some stunning views of the river and has other features of interest, as well. It's not part of the national park (probably should be), but is continuous with the Cuyahoga Valley. Last, the park is intended to preserve the history of the first western settlements and development of transportation and commerce connecting the the Great Lakes and the Ohio River. A visit to the canal locks & displays about how canal transport works, as well as a ride on the scenic railroad (which displaced the canal as a means of transport) will give you a great sense of that aspect of the valley. A visit to Hale Farm gives a glimpse into life of the early settlers in the Western Reserve. The majority of national parks are oriented around awesome features of nature. We've got a little bit of that, but what really makes CVNP unique its example of being a large scale natural restoration success and the preservation of the history of the area.
Not only appreciated the video, but also this reply! Do you know how far along the Buckeye Trail beyond Blue Hen Falls until you reach the Hemlock/Exposed Rock you mentioned? That sounds really cool to see. Also, do you have any tips for finding the "unmarked" trail past Blue Hen Falls to Buttermilk falls?
@@PieOnPot You'd have to travel about 1 to 1.5 miles down the Buckeye Trail to get to the hollow with exposed rock & hemlock. You can't really miss the unmarked trail to Buttermilk Falls once you're at Blue Hen. There are a couple benches at Blue Hen. The trail is just past the benches, and you'll be facing it when you arrive at Blue Hen. Just a heads up: there are a few creek crossings; and since the trail isn't official, you may have to deal with climbing over or finding your way around downed trees. But the views and the destination make it worthwhile.
@@NortheastOhioHikesandBikes Appreciate the info! Will certainly attempt!!
Awesome, now I really want to see this park and I have friends who live nearby to visit!
Very informative. Just moved to Indiana. Its in my bucket list now.
Nice chill hike Jess, love the sand dunes!
nice and chill im visiting soon so thanks
It's pronounced ki-ugh-ho-guh. It's fine ik most people get it wrong
I was thinking the same thing!
Hiking in sand is worse than snow. I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating...and it gets everywhere.
So sorry sad I didn't see you before you left. Safe travels and best of luck in Colorado I know you'll make some great footage out there!!! Excited to see it hope to see you soon eventually ~~~ great transitions too
thank you alex!! see you soon💞
Great video! 👍🏻 @weekend hikers
Bernie Sanders helped clean up Vermont it's one of the cleanest state in America and has three political parties they don't gerrymander their state banned billboard farm to restaurants and shops and stores it's a people state
Good fun.

Shenandoah has been on my list to visit for years and I’m actually planning to do a solo trip there myself. Thanks a lot for the content! Very helpful for my planning! :)
Glad it was of help :) Have fun on your solo-trip!
America is not a country . It is a continent . United states is the name of your country . Canada is also in America . People from United States have no culture . Poutine is from Quebec not Ontario
I have watched this before, but I just watched again. It was so moving when the team broke practice & these behemoths came over en masse with real smiles on their faces. Even I got excited up here in Canada.....🇨🇦🏈🇨🇦🏈🇨🇦🏈
You can certainly get aything you want to eat in Toronto, but if you want REAL poutine, go to Quebec. Poutine is not "famous" in Toronto.
Hey Jess, why didn't you and your friends ride a streetcar?
great music
Good video ladies ! If you want to eat a real poutine you need to go to Montreal. Please make another video when you are there !
Yes! hoping to go to Montreal soon🙏🏻
I’m glad I live in Canada where it’s 19 to drink legally. After I turned 19 I went to clubs and bars every week, but then covid hit so that all stopped sadly. I’m 20 now but If I lived in the US I still wouldn’t have experienced all the clubs and bars yet cause it’s 21 there lol just find that kinda crazy.
Yeah it definitely is crazy! The US is something else lol
Hope you gals had a great time in Toronto. Would you consider visiting again? Just wondering.
Thank you, we did! And yes, I would definitely go again, it was a very nice city. Also been wanting to head over to Montreal as well!
@@jesspetronzi cool. Montreal is a great city too. Has a European feel to it. Especially Old Montreal.🇨🇦✌
Great job editing really liked it.
Thanks so much :)
In America you certainly do have Tim Hortons, just not everywhere. Better coffee to be found at McDonald's in Canada however
Ythat wasn't 'Toronto, that was what we build for tourists. But nice video.
You see at this p..art you ve got almost 400 subs, im one of them...
thank you! :)
Great filming, editing and content. I live here but it was so so nice to see us living and enjoying the city in the good old days. Hope you’re keeping well.
thank you!
You have good taste in music!
Brava nice vid

Vegan poutine is not poutine. And there are Tim Horton's in the midwest US
ofc it is! 😇
@@jesspetronzi Poutine is french fries, beef gravy and cheese curds. That's the recipe. Cheese curds and beef gravy are not vegan.
@@d.r.p.charbonneau4445 it’s VEGAN poutine! they veganized it’s by making vegan cheese curds and vegan gravy! ☺️☺️
@@jesspetronzi I'm unconvinced. :P
