I know I've given the advice to lazer-focus on a single genre before, but recently I'm realising more and more that enjoying music is really the most important part. (Burning out over and over again is what lead me to that realization 😅😅😅) So I try not to worry too much about the genre and just have fun. I hope to naturally evolve into a category of my own as a result of that

In retrospect, I have to admit the two versions could've been more CONTRAST to each other :P And I agree, as I said at the end, a lack of contrast can also be an artistic decision. It's the RODE SmartLav+ Lavalier mic. It's the same one I use for recording these videos. I used to record vocals on my phone in the past tho. If you go to my oldest video, I did a breakdown of how I mix them :D

Thanks so much dude! I achieved the sound by layering 2 piano-ish presets from the Korg M1 VST, and adding the Ableton Autofilter in bandpass mode - I played around with the LFO settings a bit, and that's how I got the sweeping effect. (it doesn't sound the same without the autofilter) That's pretty much it! :D

Take a kick, put a shit ton of reverb, low pass filter and play with the EQ. This works for any sound (not just the kick). Layering sounds also goes a long way.

Setup a spare track with an fx rack of things like verb distortion saturation or anything else, then during the session you can always send a sound to that track and record the preferred outcome after trials etc.... handy for a texture tail or swell or even a full bed for the background etc
