He got a date with that woman because women love a man who knows what he wants. Most other men would be too afraid to ask a beautiful woman out, and because it's rare that any man would, she'll be intrigued by the man that actually does.
The fact that this video, posted by a channel with 15k subscribers, has 1 million views, speaks to how prevalent loneliness is in this day and age. 😢
i only had 100 subs when i posted this too
Man i need to find time to see this movie. I see people mention it a lot
in this movie he stands out of being a loser trying not to be. and she...kelly i mean...whitness!!! the only movie in wich i liked her performence.
Fascinating essay
"I think a woman prefers that a relationship would come from a natural and friendly progression" sometimes different people will want different things
Travis turned out like this and he didnt even need algorithms to scew his view and agree with everything he already thought.
The degradation of society made Travis alone..
Go outside 😂
Purgatory of loneliness
Statanic hollyweirdos and how TDS and the Woke Mind Virus destroys their minds
It's so annoying how those Woke TDSers won't stop leaving comments on unrelated videos. Clearly they're the mentally unwell ones, unlike me, your average conservative, who never leaves comments anywhere.
That's why you should have hope in life out then you don't feel left alone have God with you always not alone anymore
"A lot of Taxi Driver is Travis writing in his diary, then going out and being weird to people"
Triple A film analysis right there. I was surprised I wasn't watching a Yale dissertation on the movie.
Only seen this movie once, it was after I came back from deployment to Iraq. This movie spoke to me.
Iconic movie
The only way out of loneliness is drinking friends remember that
I almost died Thursday evening because of alcohol poisoning
@@mwittmann68you should drink more so it goes away
besides the loneliness, i think the ptsd from the war played a part. my opinion, i could be wrong....
This is how all uber drivers feel. 😢
A lot of the time even among with the people who care about me I feel alone sometimes I want to end it
What a great video!
Had this video in my watch later and I watched the movie because of you
Wow I just found your channel, and I gotta say this is fantastic stuff. Your takes are nuanced and separate from the culture war, while still acknowledging it, its ideas and effects. This is also a great analysis of fight club. I appreciated the way you blended it with your personal perspective to illustrate the points too. Subscribed, can’t wait to see more bro!
Exactly me.
People seem more lonely now than they were in 1976.
I remember picking up GTA V at midnight release when I was 21, now im 33.
I don’t know to feel about the idea of this movie. Cautionary tale? Great video essay all the same!
This is true
If you had read the book you would've known that the point of story wasn't any of what you just analyzed. But since it's a well written story, interpretation can be done, and that's enough to call it a day.
He was not that lonely tbh. He had colleagues trying to socialize but he shut it down or wasn't really paying attention to the people around him
Ive had moments where ive been not far off of Travis's character. What makes it hard is you become jaded towards people, who will infinitely give you reasons to be jaded. Causing you to push them away. Before you know it you have pushed away everyone in your life and surrounded yourself with nothing, by the time you realize it you're 30 and your opportunities for social interaction organically have all but dried up. Leaving you alone and hopeless. The cycle only gets worse at that point. Some dont even make it to 50 in this cycle.
Who knew Dinero would turn out to be such a demoncrap mental cripple....
If you consider yourselves lovers of film, I would like to ask you to subscribe to Lonesome Cowboy Productions, an afiliate channel that will be focused on the rollouts of original independant films, a link is in the description. Both Mansplaining Movies and Lonesome Cowboy Productions will be heavily active channels in 2025, I want my channels to contribute to a community of people who celebrate cinema. I also want the videos of Mansplaining Movies to be of a higher standard, I wrote a lot of them in a way that doesn't really represent myself and it makes me cringe when I hear people thinking these videos are an extension of myself rather than something made intentionally in a way that would increase engagement. In 2025 I will have the time in my life to actually take UA-cam seriously and Lonesome Cowboy Productions will be a big part of it. The Taxi Driver video I just think is corny, this video is not a representation of my actual thoughts and feelings at all. I know I can make a much better video than this one.

This video in particular I wrote in a way that was as pretentious as I could make it and I would rather strip it back. The audio sucks too.

the music in the video is a bit too loud
Great video! You make a lot of great points
How dare you say this about this awesome movie how old are you How dare you think this way about one of the best movies ever
I never liked this movie nothing interesting
Not blaming Betsy here, but its the typical fairy tale idea of finding the frog is actually a prince, thats why so many girls with also not much experience do, and when things go to their limits, they have to finally land in reality
stfu with that male gaze bs
This is a masterpiece of a movie!
8:25 i think i heard somewhere that this camera shot was supposed to portray awkwardness. Like us viewers are getting 2nd hand embarrassment from him struggling to get betsy back.
Beautiful movie!!!
To this day Taxi Driver is my favourite film of all time. I’ve gotten so attached to ideas that were not healthy, as I’ve spent very long times essentially completely alone for work, the loneliness has made me cling to them in very problematic ways. It’s a movie that has perfectly shown some of my personal struggles in life, and I don’t believe there will ever be a film that has affected me like it has.
story of my life
I loved that film as a kid but not gonna lie I live in the north of england and there is no sense of community anymore, police don't give a fuck etc. You also have massive news channels like the BBC chatting absolute bullshit which does not help us
I love the movie. But it relies on the cheap male fantasy that one woman will show up and fix me. Actually, Billy doesn't need that; there's nothing wrong with being sensitive and emotional. He just can't accept himself, and that's why he becomes a broken shell.
I liked the video man. Nice work. What is up with some of these comments? People going full schizo over this.
Great video don’t stop
