shit man, was looking for an Akira video, thanks, I'm about to watch it. I saw your taxi driver video and I guess the fact that I'm here now speaks to the potential you have, keep it up
Luvin. The chill hop in the background works well too 🍻 also a huge fan of both the movie and the manga. Just re-read thru it all during a recent snow storm. Epic.
Thanks! I have been a fan of the movie for years but only read the manga a month ago and it enhanced my love for Akira so much that I felt like I had to write about it and make a video. Subscribe if you haven't. I will make more videos like this. I will definitely do a video similar to this with the 1997 Berserk anime and manga at some point.
The very first of it's kind, I ever saw...blow me away..!! Enough to lead me to one of my all times... Ninja Scroll Ninja Scroll is a great anime, yet it's simply a brilliant film in general. One of those works, that's appreciated beyond it's genre..!! A film I'll never tire of...like The Breakfast Club or The Crow..!!
Been binging your vids, and you’re incredible and impelling man, thank you for sharing your content w the world :) so happy to sub and watch your channel grow. Might I recommend varying the music throughout the video? Perhaps using it to dynamically change in order to match the tone of what’s being discussed in that moment; just anything but a loop lol outstandingly written vid tho, just felt the music takes away from the videoing experience when it could add to it
Thank you! I will watch your Alita video, Alita always seems intriguing to me but the film versions never impressed me, I liked the anime but it was a bit too short, it seemed there was more story to tell. Do you reccomend the manga?
@@MansplainingMovies I recommend alita for the artwork and themes alone as its some of the best of the era, the Rodrigez film was terrible. Thanks for checking it out.
@@venomsnack this is good reason to check it out. akira also visually and thematically is really impressive. good to know we both hate the robert rodriquez adaptation lol
I think you might be spreading some misinformation. Been here after watching the taxi driver video btw, and the first akira manga was out in 1982-1983 i’m reading it finally after seeing part of this video, and its whats on the page. 1983 they compiled the first book
The manga volumes were released between 1982 and 1990. The movie came out in 1988, we can assume production started in 1986 or 1987. The movie arguably came before the manga as the manga was only 87 chapters in out of 120. The manga ends the same way the movie ends, so the manga is inspired by the film where usually this is never the case. The film adapts from elements mostly from the first volume and goes in its own direction towards the end, which then is adapted in the manga in 1990. Overall it had a complicated schedule.
good analysis, ty! I've been a fan of the anime for year but just got the manga during the pandemic and I really love it ...but, pls watch Akira in Japanese and learn how to pronounce "Kaneda" 😆
Detailed and Informative, great video!
Totally agree

I do watch the Japanese version, I never thought there was much difference in how it is pronounced in the video though 🤷♂️
You just got the manga ? Yikes
You should read Riki-oh
Your music makes this impossible to listen to it’s too loud
I'm doing reuploads for early videos as the audio isnt great for these videos
