Wes Streeting obfuscates on Council Tax rises
Wes Streeting, Labour's Shadow Health Secretary comes unstuck, when questioned over Council Tax rises. Labour have pledged that during their term of office, there will be no rises in common taxes such as national insurance, income tax and VAT etc. However Council Tax, which takes out a big chunk of disposable income for many homeowners has risen relentlessly over the years, always exceeding the inflation rate.
Watch Wes struggle and desperately attempt to divert his response to 'what the Tories will do'. You know it's inevitable your Council Tax will have to rise big-time under Labour. Something has to give, if you're not going to increase the common major taxes and have the spending plans that Labour will need to fix the UK.

Tonight With Marr - on UK food inflation (LBC)
Переглядів 14Рік тому
Andrew Marr's take on food price inflation in the UK, together with the growing poverty and health issues as a result of this. Particularly interesting is his later interview with top epidemiologist Sir Michael Marmot, who is more than a little concerned as to what the effect of food inflation will have on people's health.

Fairport Convention - The Deserter

Fairport Convention with Sandy Denny from the Liege & Lief album of 1969. This was Fairport at their very peak, but 2 of their founder members, Ashley Hutchings, Richard Thompson and Sandy were to quit within a year of this album. The band were never quite as good again, suffering from a constant turnover of musicians over the years. Today, only Simon Nicol remains from the original line-up of ...
The Who: Don't Look Away

From their 2nd album 'A Quick One', 1966 which was very different in feel to the adrenaline fuelled 1965 debut, 'My Generation'. AQO was less typical of the style of The Who and had quite a depressing overtone to it. It also had some quirky humour as well, and it's known that when they came to the studio to record AQO they barely had any material written. So the album was very much written on t...

The Lindsay Denton Treatment
Переглядів 14 тис.5 років тому
Disgraced former police officer D I Lindsay Denton, now staying at a shelter for released prisoners receives a visit from a corrupt parole officer, who wants a blow job in exchange for payment. But he ends up with a little bit more than he was expecting. I've edited the subtitles/captions as the original automated ones done by UA-cam are rubbish.

PJ Harvey - Horses In My Dreams - Live

One of Polly's atmospheric, dreamy songs rarely performed live and a real minmalist song. Like so much of her stuff, even if you don't like it the first few times, the more you listen the better it just seems to get The subdued mood of this song seems to suit the cool, wet conditions of the rain-soaked crowd - 2001.

Horses in my dreams Like waves, like the sea They pull out of here They pull, they are free Rode a horse round the world Along the tracks of a train Broke the record, found the gold Set myself free again I have pulled myself clear I have pulled myself clear Silent, I have pulled myself clear Silent, I have pulled myself clear Horses in my dreams Like waves, like the sea On the tracks of a train Set myself free again I have pulled myself clear Silent, I have pulled myself clear Silent, I have pulled myself clear Silent, I have pulled myself clear

The first track is sensational. I get 'stuck' on different PJ tracks, & this is my current obsession. It's like she's channeling somebody in Hell. About as far from a pop song as you can get. I'm afraid the second track completely wrecks the delicacy, nuance & intimacy of the album version. The instrumentation is blunt & heavy handed & she cannot project the stunning vocal & emotional range of her recording. And I don't know why, but I simply cannot stand the bass player!
