A 1959 Fender Stratocaster, Tweed Deluxe, and FUZZ ❤️🔥🎸
To be fair, I really love all things Stratocaster from 1959-1966, but this is one heck of a combination! Slab board, warmer pickups, and super cool personal touches!

for rich people. Lol
Sounds nice bro
Thanks man!
I own Isle of tone haze67 and I personally think it does way better overdrive thing than regular overdrives...I think this pedal is the most fenomenal secret sauce gear/piece of magic those guys came up with in Austria..its like Roswell incident.Few have experienced the truth.
Yeah, man, I totally agree! I love it as an overdrive. Especially a single coil guitar.
Wish I'd seen these demos before wasting soooo much ($8000+ Canadian Dollars) on a Bartlett Retrospec mk2. For several thousands less, I could have enjoyed an actual professional grade guitar. Live and learn, I guess.
I’ve heard great things about Bartlett, but never played one. That said, I do think the Frank Brothers are great value for today’s boutique market!
@@RiggsTaylor I had only heard glowing reviews for over a decade, and if the guitar I got rivalled even like a custom shop Junior, I would've been completely content. But the sad thing is, and especially considering the tip top dollar, it did not rival that of an average Gibson Custom guitar. It wasn't balanced very well, it had a weird quirky toggle switch (I literally have 15 guitars with those switches, all ranging from 300 - 5000 bucks, and none of them are faulty like this one so clearly is, and must've been when the builder shipped the guitar). The nut was poorly dressed, and a couple other small things but that all is fixable, I wouldn't be b*tching to strangers on the internet if that was all that wasn't great about the guitar. It was about 5 months after getting it when I realized the strings don't run down the fretboard straight. There were clues, like I kept pulling the high e string off the edge of the fretboard, but I'd nnnever suspect that the bridge was installed in the wrong place, causing the strings to skew toward the treble side of the fretboard. It wasn't until I looked at the guitar hanging on the wall that I noticed it. I then went on the builders website to compare mine to the photos of it there and yeah, there it is, I just didn't see it before. Then I compared it to the other guitar on there, a pink one of the same exact model, and it has the strings skewed towards the bass side of the fretboard. Anyways, I lost it, demanded my money back, but that was never going to happen in 20 thousand years, so I gave up. I'm gonna get the bridge re positioned, maybe put a bigsby on to correct the neck dive, new nut, new toggle switch..and I might have a decent guitar then. Should've just bought a Frank Brothers guitar!
@@joegearing1745 dang man. That’s crazy - I can’t recommend Frank Brothers enough though! Lifetime guitar for me!
Bernie mainly converted the ones using EL 84's, partially because that's what was around Hamilton, Ontario, at the time, and partly because Colin Cripps, one of Bernie's customers, was big into JMI Vox's, and EL84's. Having said all that, Bernie later got his hands on, and converted, one of the 6V6 models and liked that one, too, but his "Filmo's" (that's what we used to call them, no one called them Bernie's) were almost all EL 84 models.
Yep - the EL84 variants were the most common outside of the US. Bernie didn’t make that many from my understanding, but so cool to see the impact he made with just a couple dozen amps!
C standard tuning sounds nice clean
Agreed! Love it.
@@RiggsTaylor it also sound good for metak
For me 64 is brighter, what do you feel?
I agree - a bit brighter and more articulate. Just something about it I really like!
More Gretsch videos needed 😀👍
I wish I still had this one - sold to buy my Frank Brothers! Cant keep em all 😅
@@RiggsTaylorahh that’s sad!
@@TimCz83 I know, wish I still had it! Hope to get another someday!
That tone from 6:30 or so is absolutely lovely.
Thanks so much! A fun rig for sure!
My god that sounds incredible. Which pickups are in that model (didn’t hear you mention it).
They’re stock filtertrons! I don’t think they’re anything special for this model, but they’re cool pickups!
@@RiggsTaylor nice! Wasn’t sure if they were the powertrons or whatever they’re called. But these sound lovely. Saving up for one at the moment!
Hey Riggs, do you still have your Gold Suhr Classic S? What pickups were your favorite? Thanks!
I do! I have the Suhr ML’s (I think they’re called the V63 now) and a Sunbear SB59PAF in the bridge - darker strat pickups, but they work well for me!
Thanks Riggs!
I'm sure this sturdy guitar right here can do Mayer stuffs and Van Halen at the same time, right? Cuz I bought a Fender Vintage ii 61 st and suddenly realized it's not the guitar for me, and I'm currently seeking an all-round guitar. And I believe this is the one.
Yeah man, it’s an Incredible instrument. I’ve played a ton of strat-style guitars over the years, and even with the vintage ones the Suhr stuff is still top notch for how I use it.
@@RiggsTaylor Alright then. The AVRI is going to another guy this week.
Riggs, will you please explain what we are hearing. I assume the Dream is a direct recording of some kind. For this type, how are you listening to it? I assume you use studio monitors. For the real amp, it looks like you are recording using mic's. It seems like the right comparison would be to compare the mic'd studio monitors and the mic'd amp. This seems to be common on reviews of any kind of modeler by all UA-camrs. We seem to always get a computer recorded version but that isn't what we would be listening to when practicing. I'd be surprised if this pedal through a monitor sounds anything like the real amp. I am interested in buying one of these but I think I would need a power amp and real cab or some kind of FRFR speaker. Please comment.
I get what you’re saying - I do like the way it sounds with studio monitors! I think the direct sound is a good representation of how it sounds through studio monitors, and I would be happy to practice that way. Personally I’m more concerned with the recorded direct sound since that’s what it would sound like live or on a record, but I get what you’re saying! I think you’d like it.
Sounds great
Thanks man!
Absolutely awesome have a wonderful weekend eiigs riggs also I am going to college in Canada where I live in ❤😊
The haze pedal sounds way better it’s not even close.
I totally agree - isle of tone is on another level!
The vibtage one sounds AMAZING. Curious to see how much of a difference the speaker makes. Most amp comparisons on youtube are running the amps through different cabs and it's jusy a huge variable. It would be really helpful if you could compare them with both speakers. Then we will maybe going for stupidly expensive vintage speakers instead of stupidly expensive vintage amps, lol. Cheers :)
Might do that! I actually don’t think the stock speaker in these is a “great” speaker, but this one has held up really well. I’ve played a lot of vintage ones with replaced speakers that still had the sauce, but I’ve never played a reissue that did. Doesn’t mean they’re bad, but I think the vintage ones have something special.
PAF´s in that gorgeous guitar. What one ever need?
Yeah this one has it all - one of my favorite guitars I’ve ever played!
Rare as Funk!
Incredibly rare! Such an awesome guitar.
Nice guitar bro🔥🔥
Nice demo ❤
Thank you!
Awesome video love to see how these can be used. That’s probably why these amps are some of the most recorded amps ever. Very versatile!
Absolutely! Glad you liked it - new videos every week with stuff like this 🤘🏻
When I bought mine the warranty said: «The guarantee does not cover shark bite, bear attack and children under five.»
😂😂
As studio musicians and engineers, knowing how to get different sounds from the gear you have or that your clients bring into the studio is extremely important. Great video man!
Absolutely crucial - thanks dude! More coming!
Thank you for the video. I will go fine a company that stands behind there word and work!
Happy to help!
Why not buy a Marshall?
As much as I’d love to have all the amps, it’s helpful to know how to the make the most of what you’ve got!
This is so stupid and pointless! You could have just bought the Marshall instead of the Fender! WHY DO VIDEOS LIKE THIS, HAVE TO EXIST IN 2024?!?
… because you can’t buy all the amps. It’s not a sound everyone will use all the time, but it’s always cool to get the most out of whatever gear you have. Rarely does a 60 second clip tell the whole story 😉
@@RiggsTaylor If you can afford the Fender you can afford the Marshall, why not just buy the Marshall in the first place instead of the Fender?
@@AbstractZombie-ed8fj because I like all the other sounds the Deluxe Reverb does as well - this is just one example of what the amp can do. I primarily run it cleaner, but it’s cool to know that it can do more than what most people expect from a Fender amp! All about making the most of what you have 👍🏻
That said, if you only use Marshall-adjacent sounds, then by all means buy the Marshall!
@@RiggsTaylor Look nobody is bashing you personally, but it's just a pointless video.. Why buy an amp to try to make it sound like another? And you don't think you can't make a Marshall sound like a fender? bass 7,mids7treble7 give it a shot sometime..It works best with el34 amps but will also work with valvestate and newer ss versions as well...
Well maintained vintage necks make the best guitars, but if they're not straight/leveled, you might as well just get a modern guitar.
Yeah, definitely needs to be setup and play properly. John at True Vintage works with an amazing luthier here in town to make sure they’re perfect before I ever demo them!
@RiggsTaylor that's awesome. Bro it's the worst walking into a shop, seeing something old and beautiful only to start playing it and hearing buzz city with the action at mount Everest.
@@geoalpha yeah, that’s no good. Gotta treat the guitars right!
Love the Snarky Puppy lick!
Thanks! Just kind of came to me haha. These are all improvised but the feel/tone of this guitar really reminded me of that lick!
Sorry. But it's a Custom Telecaster. MY favorite. First Fender guitar I ever saw "in the wood" so-to-speak, was a brand new '59 or '60 Custom Esquire. Knocked my socks off.
Killer guitars! Yeah, commonly referred to as both the Telecaster Custom and Custom Telecaster - the headstock says one thing and the Fender dealer list says the other, haha. Regardless, this is one of the best I’ve played!
beautiful tele and playing! awesome
Thanks so much man 🙏🏻 would love to own one like this someday.
Are Suhr S type guitars not sometimes on the heavy side?
There are a ton of variations, so I’m sure there are some heavier ones. A classic S style probably won’t be, but some of the customs with quilted maple tops and heavy tremolo setups probably are.
I love the build quality but the limited number I’ve tried have been over 8lbs
@@doncowie8653 interesting! I don’t know the weight on these exactly, but they’re closer to 8lbs I think. Not uncommon for Strats, especially alder.
I thought A was the amp since I preferred it in almost every clip, but the fuzz clips made me think that B was the amp because it clearly handled the fuzz better to my ears. I don't care much about fuzz tho so Dream for the win!
The Dream is fantastic - especially for around $300 or less used!
Asatobucker hurts my ears
I’ve come to prefer the Thornbucker and currently the Sunbear PAF that’s in the bridge. The Asato matched the single coils closer, but didn’t love the upper mids
Legs are losing circulation in them pants boy
Accepting donations for new ones 😂
What other fuzz do you think comes closer to this one?
Man I haven’t played many that compete, but I also stopped looking for a good Fuzz Face / mk1.5 Tonebender after I got this! I do really like the Mythos Golden Fleece as a similar flavor fuzz - very affordable. But not the same thing.
@@RiggsTaylor Great!!! 👏👏👏👏
Piece of advice, don't take advice from a beginner.
@@RiggsTaylor I don't know about all that. What I saying is' a beginner will have other beginners modding their guitars/trying different tunigs/constantly swapping guitars/adjusting the action/intonation etc' to the point it can't be played.... things to that sort to where they just give up instead of sticking to the basics of learning. Do you understand now?
@@BryanClark-gk6ie I see what you’re saying - that makes sense!
1960’s Clean Guitar
Very clean for the time period!
Prob not perfect place here, but I hope you can do a suhr vintage LE review!
Would love to get hands on one to compare to my Classic Antique! Basically the same specs it seems.
@@RiggsTaylor Exactly, perhaps no SSC would be the major difference? I did saw your great review of the antique, so I make a wish here. Originally I was going to buy a fender pro 2 but at some point I tried the Suhr vintage and I got blown away. I dont like the hum of the vintage so I'm a bit hesitant
@@tracywang1 oh interesting! I didn’t realize it doesnt have the SSC system, but I like it.
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much 🤘🏻
We need extended version of this!!!!!
Ah thanks! A lot more videos on my channel, and more coming every week!
Whats the difference between the small and the bigget Haze67?
I believe it’s mostly aesthetic! I love the look of the big ones - I’ve never compared the two, but since they match transistors by ear each pedal can have some variation!
Thank you for this
Very welcome!
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day riggs ❤😊
Thanks man!
My rig has been the same for years: Tele-> phase 90 -> polychorus -> OS-2 -> Vox amp
Sounds like a winner to me!
Sounds awesome.
Thanks so much 🙌🏻
"I only used hand made guitars, hand made sttaps, hand made strings , hand made instrument wires and hand made tool." 😂
I mean I think only the straps are fully hand made… lol. They use machines for at least part of the process on everything else 😎
I hear tell Roy had a teal colored Strat that his daughter Debbie inexplicably painted black. I don't what became of it. The Lanham's were family friends. Roy was a trip.
That’s awesome! Man, what a find that would be!
Emilio you’re amazing man, really good work.
He’s the best!
I think both sound really good! I think both of them have settings they'd be really useful in! I think personally I liked the reissue more.. something about it
Interesting! I’m hoping to borrow a stock reissue to compare it to next - maybe we do all three!
