    This is the song Dolly Parton should have done, not that awful one they actually did together.

    From Ken Caillat's definitive Making Rumours: "Stevie had a song, 'Smile at You,' that she had recorded with Tom Moncrieff, and she wanted the band to play it that day [May 16, 1976, during the rerecording of Rumours in LA]. Mick slid into his drum space, John his bass area. Christine sat with her back to us at her keys station, and Lindsey was over to the left, on the south wall, facing Mick. Stevie stood in the center of the studio, using a handheld microphone. Every member of the band was in transcension mode, significantly buzzed on his or her favorite substance. . . . When we finally got rolling on 'Smile at You,' Lindsey suddenly didn't want to play the song anymore. He was annoyed when he learned that Stevie had developed it with Tom Moncrieff. The more we worked on the song, the less enthusiastic Lindsey seemed to be about it. I loved the song and kept pushing him to record it. Yet Stevie knew that Lindsey's lack of interest meant 'Smile at You' was doomed as far as making it onto Rumours. The 'Smile at You' session just fizzled out." I personally think that this version dates from the Tusk sessions, and that neither the demo recorded with Moncrieff nor the Rumours version have surfaced. There are two other versions from the Mirage sessions and then there's the Say You Will version. My favorite: the "angry" version from the Mirage sessions.

      Why did Lindsay not like Tom?

    • @yuvaltaylor4145
      @yuvaltaylor4145 Рік тому

      @@kareneaton3318 Lindsey and Tom were good friends and had played together a lot before Tom moved into Stevie's house to help her work on her songs. Then Lindsey seems to have become jealous from a professional standpoint. Lindsey viewed himself as the conduit for Stevie's art. "Smile at You" was the first instance of Stevie working with another man on one of her songs.

      @@yuvaltaylor4145 So maybe the line about you needed someone to depend on you and I couldn't be her was directed at Lindsey. That would explain him not liking the song

    Lindsey was a control freak ALWAYS trying to change her compositions. He was an insecure pompous ass and all of the band mutually agreed it was time for him to go. He was moody, throwing temper tantrums if things didn’t go his way. That seems to be the pattern of old Caucasian men in the last several years. Beside Stevie finally had the confidence of knowing that she was the most successful member of the band and she brought fans from her solo career to Fleetwood Mc not to mention she is rage one’ll female inducted inducted into the Rok n Roll Hall of Fame twice. Of course, they may have some unfinished personal business but she is a Lady Boss. If you took a public poll asking random people is they know who is Stevie Nicks most people would answer yes; followed by asking if they know who is Lindsey Buckingham and you’d either get the Mariah answer, “I don’t him,” or “isn’t he that Jackass senator from South Carolina? I am not diminishing Lindsey’s talent but he tried for years to bully her and she finally stood up for herself and it was long overdue. Besides he quit the band once but this time the band quit him. But God willing but f everyone stays healthy, he will be back but I bet he will no longer try to tell her what to do.

    • @sarahrobinson518
      @sarahrobinson518 4 роки тому

      Lindsey abused her physically and mentally. It’s well documented and there’s a reason he wasn’t included in their reunion tour recently. Additionally they were all on drugs, all going through break ups with each other and still having to create. Despite that they produced timeless classics. Just ridiculous to blame Stevie for all their problems.

    • @stevienicksisafreakinglege4413

      @@debraforbes5701 Yes thank you for bringing this up! During the Tusk tour Lindsey tried to kick Stevie on stage and Christine had to stop him. In 1987 when Stevie got fed up with him they got in a big fight and Lindsey tried to choke her. Even after all that she forgave him, she even edited Planets of the Universe due to it being 'mean spirited' towards Lindsey. Did he revoke the shacking up line? Absolutely not! And now after being the same nasty guy all this time he finally got the boot. It wasn't anyone's fault but his own, but a lot of people blame it on Stevie. It's sad. Lindsey also makes fun of Stevie in his song "What makes you think you're the one" and acts like he doesn't need her but she needs him. He also basically tells her in "Not that Funny" that he got her fame so she should know her place and not get in his way. Apparently, from what I learned from a user, Samuel Orru that Stevie was offered a record deal from a country label but declined because she wanted to do rock and be with Lindsey. If that wasn't enough he abused his next girlfriend for 7 years straight and then wrote "Go Insane" as if she was the bad guy. When he was fired he tried to play the innocent victim and could not understand why Stevie feels the way she feels about him. Because of him she feels that she can't write good music but she is an excellent songwriter. Lindsey is not a good person and got what he deserves in my opinion.

    ❤️ You've left me now And it's seasoned my soul And with every step you take, I watch another part of you go... I continue to build a wall... You were so strong, I fell to my knees... And I don't think I can handle this at all... One more night I'd like to lie and hold you Yes and feel... To make you smile, I'd like to be there for you-- Have you forgotten me? And the days go by Doing nothing about them... How much time Will I have to spend? My mind won't rest And I don't sleep Not even in my dreams... If you ever did believe, For my sake... If you ever did believe.... And the days go by Doing nothing about them... How much time Will I have to spend? Ooo....ooo.....ooo... Ooo baby don't leave me Ooo..ooo...ooo...ooo I'm down on my knees... Ooo..ooo...ooo...ooo Begging you please... Ooo...ooo...ooo...ooo Baby don't leave me.... Did you ever believe?
