Check your dates for different companies marking Made in USA. There was never a law requiring this so it was on an individual basis. My notes comes from The Cast Iron Collector, Wagner started marking USA in 1960., McGraw Edison Inc. bought Griswold on March 29, 1957, and then sold it in December 1957 to Randall who already owned Wagner. No Made In USA label was ever on a true Griswold family product. BSR 1967 and Lodge 1968. It can be confusing but America was still free back then and they didn't have a law for everything.

Have to lean toward the GRISWOLD since it was made where I live.

The Red mountain 14 moulds were used well into the Century series time frame but I'm sure all were hand poured because there just wasn't a big demand

I saw a video on UA-cam on restoring cast iron fry pans. After wanting some. I keep my eyes open for them, had a friend who sold them at swap meets. Wish i had grabbed a couple. The Quest continues! Thanks for the reminder 👍🏼😎

I use cast iron almost daily. You using an e-tank for restoration? Also my understanding bronze color happens to some CI when first seasoned and over time should darken and seasoning builds and polymerization occurs. Good to hear you are feeling better.

Actually, you can put together a set of distinctly different Buffaloes, many vintage.

The best proof sets you can get for mintages and cost are those from between 2010 - 2017. Prices start to increase after 2017. The ones from 1999 - 2009 can be good buys but the mintages are higher - around 1.5 million. The sets from 2010 - 2017 mintages 750 to 300 thousand. Mintages have been falling for proof sets due to the bad rap they received from the flood that were produced and bought starting about 1968 through the mid 1990's. Another decent buy for silver stackers are the 1990's silver proof sets (avoid the "premium sets). Less silver than those of the ATb onward but still the price is low as many dealers want to get rid of them.

Great collection. It’s a slow process filling the book but it’s not my top priority either. I have lots of empty holes it’s probably going to take me years to complete. Your right filling the book is about filling the book with your own personality.

All my mom’s cast iron pans disappeared when she passed away. My stove is a glass cooktop, so only use Teflon pans.

What is LCS? And where do I go to find the place?

While I think everyone should have at least one high grade Morgan in their collection, I am a firm believer that circulated Morgans carry more history in them. A collection that shows a range of conditions can be more visually interesting than a book full of only MS coins.

I have a 14 inch cast iron skillet. I forget where I got it, what brand it is or what I paid for it. I know I did grind the "pebbly" texture smoother I really only use it on Thanksgiving. I put a turkey on a rack and set it in that skillet. 300f couple hours later done.

You can't go by ebay asking price, go by sold listings. The newer Lodge stuff is very poor quality, not worth bringing home! I have Taiwan skillets that are way better!
