What a time to put the video on 😅 after 3 years of sorting my boat and now a brand new 50hp mercury outboard and an old fisherman friend of my dads made me a beam shrimp net to tow on the boat, yesterday I caught plenty of shrimps, 4ft and 2 knots, today I have a good few hours picking 😂 my dad boiled em up on the beach so it was a good school day yesterday, great videos you do so thanks 🙏

Your camera work is shit and your putting back dead fish that's not sustainable at all

That's a scary fast tide, by the time you go to the end of your net you were walking seems a long way to throw back the rejected ones.

What size lead line do you use on your longer nets ?

I couldn't help wonder if the two turbot at the end of the video were 300mm or bigger. You could be heard saying "put them in the basket" - clearly they were not returned. If they were too knackered, after being tangled and untangled, I think it better that you took them and they were eaten, rather than dying when returned, even if undersized. If you don't know, the minimum size limit for turbot is 300mm. You could also be heard saying that you want to catch their "grandmother" - of course there would be more grandmothers if the size limit were greatly increased and fishing methods allowed for better targeting and very minimal handling of undersize fish (minimising fatality rates among returnees). Here in Cornwall good sized turbot are very much less common than they used to be but, now that the size limit for bass was increased a few years ago, the boats and anglers alike are catching a higher average size of bass (mind you, still not sure if there isn't too much fishing pressure on them).

I use to set nets on the south coast years ago, I’d tie one end on breakwater and anchor other end . In august we would get a few dovers and a few bass then November time we would get a run of bass when it was rough. Only problem was if you were late getting down the beach the fox’s would steel your fish 🐶🔫

Not long been into doing this myself only struggling with packing up the net keep getting it tangling and tangling that badly loosing part of it having to cut it down to fix it any tips on packing and storing?
