Ben Macdui - Cairngorms: The 2nd highest mountain of Scotland, Family hike in snow.
My 4th climb of Ben Macdui, this time with my 10 years old daughter Cheyenne and my wonderful wife. We started late because of the weather forecast and good visibility for late afternoon so we did not add Cairn Gorm, which we did in 2021. This time route was straight and retraced return: 17.3 km with 767m of ascent.
First time I did Ben Macdui in October 2014 as a big day out incl. another 4 Munros. My route was Ben Macdui - The Devil's Point - Cairn Toul - Sgor an Lochain Uaine - Braeriach: 35km, 13h, ascent of 2 323m in a very strong and cold wind and pathless connection between Ben macdui and The Devil's Point and then between the path from Braeriach and Ski Centre car park...

It was my 29th climb of Ben Nevis, 6x done CMD ( Carn Mor Dearg ) on Monday 13.2.2023. I have climbed Ben Nevis each month in a Year in all conditions, also via the CMD arete in snow before... In this video I wanted to show how it looks and what to expect on the ridge in Winter conditions. It was icy and slippery, more snow would help in this case as the icy rock was slippery. I recommend to watch also this another video from 31.10.2019 where you can clearly see how it looks and what to expect in this part of Year even if the bottom looks warm, calm, clear and sunny 🌞 how is it changing during the climb an the big difference on the top ! ❄️ ua-cam.com/video/nIOvZFU8W54/v-deo.htmlsi=DZuNMOH7ZpJHJooW Warm, breathable and waterproof clothes, proper boots, enough drinks and food, torch/ headtorch ( short daylight ), gps, gloves, crampons or at least spikes and you.may gind ice-axe usefull as well.
