Welcome to The Star Forge! I'm a 3D printing and Star Wars enthusiast from Ohio. I love Star Wars cosplays, tinkering and upgrading my printers, and sharing what I've learned from those just starting their 3D printing or cosplay journeys!
Choosing the Best 3D Printer Filament - Tech Tip Tuesday
Hey there! If you're curious about 3D printing, let's chat about some cool filament types you'll likely encounter: PLA, PETG, and TPU.
Starting with PLA, it's the go-to filament for beginners. Why? It’s easy to print with, doesn’t have funky smells, and is fairly eco-friendly since it’s made from renewable resources. However, it’s not the best when it comes to heat resistance or strength.
Next up is PETG. Think of PETG as the tougher sibling of PLA. It offers more strength and flexibility, making it suitable for prints that require a bit more durability. Plus, it gives a nice glossy finish and doesn't warp as easily as some other materials. It's like the sweet spot for many hobbyists.
Finally, there’s TPU, which is all about flexibility. If you need to print something that’s squishy or elastic, TPU is your best bet. It’s perfect for making phone cases, gaskets, or anything that needs to bend without breaking. Just remember, it can be a little tricky to print with due to its rubber-like properties.
So, there you have it-a quick dive into the world of PLA, PETG, and TPU! Whether you're building structures, gadgets, or quirky little items, there’s a filament out there for your project. Happy printing!

Hey everyone! 🖐️ Whether you're new to the 3D printing game or a seasoned pro, nailing the orientation of your prints in the slicer can make a HUGE difference in quality. Here’s a quick tip: positioning your print to minimize overhangs and maximize flat surfaces touching the bed is key. Also, think about the strength needed and layer direction - it can save a failed print big time! A little twe...

Building the Neptune 4 Max 3D Printer!
Dude i made a failed batman cowl it was to small (its in pieces) i broke it and some how when i bent the middle it fit me now i re made it
Anybody got fun plans this weekend??
Where did you find that?!?
Also I saw you had a discord but I can’t find it anywhere
A lot of brands will do sporadic sales on Amazon or their own sites where filament gets real cheap!
What was your first printer? Or if you're shopping for your first, what are you thinking of buying?
I've never done cosplay but I'm building a scout trooper helmet on an ender 3 pro. It's a small bed so I had to cut it into quarters in mesh mixer. It's been taking me a long time to get it all done
What was your first ever cosplay???
What do you have planned for the weekend??
😂
Send this to someone who needs some vitamin D
What's your favorite way to finish your prints???
Send this to somebody who buys tickets at the gate 🤮
How do you control yourself in a Microcenter?
how do you deal with supports not touching your model when rendering and slicing? im using ultimaker cura and cant figure out why it is doing this but its not connecting to my build. if you dont know then maybe you could say what slicer you use?
I use Orca slicer, typically there is a setting that controls the gap between the support and the print, you may just need to adjust it!
@@The-Star-Forge Thank you very much. I will look into that
What's your favorite brand of filament???
Poke no feel good!!!! Hahahahahahahahahaha!
I like ELEGOO
What's your favorite printer brand?
I can count the pixels ? 😅
What kind of textured prints have you worked on??
What's the longest you've gone in cosplay??
Thx bro
its called beer
Just go to your local farm store and find the boom sticks
What's your favorite way to de-stress after a rough day??
That's a good fix that I didn't know about. How do I know where to put the failed print on my bed or were you implying to glue them together?
Definitely gotta glue them together! The failed part won't stick to the bed well enough once the bed cools down!
How does printing half of the print again fix it? Logic -300
so you can glue the two halves together? You gotta have the rest of the print to fix it.
Your logic -1000. It's a new invention called glue. Or apoxy
i don't know very much about starwars but thats a cool helmet
airsoft plate?
Yup!
Cool star wars mask. I wish I had a 3D printer. UA-cam seems to think I’m obsessed with it and it’s starting to get on my nerves. Like that stupid Sheena inu dog breed. For 3 months it would be all UA-cam recommended me. Now if I see it, all I do is get flashbacks to when it was all UA-cam would allow me to see. Stupid dog
I noticed the Montreal hat immediately
What's your favorite way to save failed prints???
What colors do you think my new helmet should be???
How many cons are you going to/gone to this year??
😥 How much have you spent on Legos?
Never a fun time!
Elegoos Rapid PETG is my absolute favorite filament ever. I was a huge fan of their rapid pla but after trying the rapid PETG it became my new go-to filament.
I'm not sure I've tried the Rapid PETG! I've used their normal PETG and it was great, might have to give it a try!
@@The-Star-Forge If you do, my recommended temps are 240/70. For my money, it's the best filament.
Would love to see a side-by-side of all the test prints in future videos, imo. It's hard to visually compare when they are alternating on and off camera.
Building a fan base one person at a time.
Fixing a clog on my elegoo Neptune 3 pro.
What are you up to this weekend?
Exactly
I subbed. Hopefully it gets interesting! 👍
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😊
That looks hella serene. Keep posting!
Exactly bro! I have been sanding and sanding and sanding just to finally paint something today.
4 all the way (Ps. Love your vids, keep up the good work)
This just happened to me haha, thanks for the tips man
PLA

Gotta go with 4. Also, I'm making prison tattoo ink (I already made the tattoo gun)
