Loving all your videos on the Thunder man. I just got one myself recently and it's hard to find good content and information on it. Do you know if it has metal differentials? Informative vid!! Question, is your ESC programmable? if so, tweak the timing of the boost/turbo, have it activate .5+ sec after you pull the throttle to full. Also, turn the punch down to 1. Those two things combined work as RC drag launch hacks, keeping all the wheels firmly on the ground while gradually (and quickly) ramping up to top speed. Worked for me (14210 (DEERC) stock pinion, 120A ESC (programmable), 3S 25C battery) and so far got up to 51.1 mph which is is slightly faster than out of the box (47.3 mph stock and literally RTR settings, didn't even charge the batts, glue the wheels, or oil the diffs)!! I'm slapping on a 15T pinion soon, AND I'm gonna augment/modify the rear diff box to place a custom, adjustable motor mount for more pinion Ts. lol, that big 4s LIPO will be plenty. The only big negative I could see to that is it’s too tall and will stick up above the body posts at least the way I have been mounting oversize batteries in my car. But that thing should be able to get you to 100+ if the car would stay on the ground and you could get the gearing tall enough.😂 Ultimately, I’d like to get the 2997a to 70 miles an hour on 3S but that is all going to depend on the gearing. I’ve already got it over 60 mph on 3S. Thanks for the shout out and I love what you’re doing with the gearing! I would love to try the motor plate and my other HBX truck as well as even with big tires and a 5900kv the fastest it could go was 57 mph. Awesome that you’re trying to help fix that kids truck.

Nice improvement! I think you are the first one to run taller gearing on UA-cam! What were the specs on the slower LIPO you were running? Every tooth down in the spur should allow for a tooth up on the pinion! That would be awesome if a smaller spur fits. I really want to get mine to 70 mph but I need another several mph to get there and gearing is the way to do it!

Hey buddy, got a quick question. I put a 3S Lipo in my hyper go H 16 BM and threw some paddle tires on it. Things are great for a couple of battery packs but now seems like it's only driving in front wheel drive when I manually turn the rear tire, the other one does not spin Like it normally does. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. I used to be pretty good at fixing these things years ago but not so much anymore. I'm hoping I don't have to pull the rear diff may not ever get it back together anyway I know you're busy buddy. Just hit me back if you get a chance. Appreciate it.

I like your thoughts on this vehicle. I was curious on what to use to change out the esc and motor to brushless. I have two of these. I was also looking to upgrade to some steel gearings cause the spur gear thats in it broke on me (for both) and I just settled for the plastic gears for now. I want to give it more punch. But not sure where to look. If you happen to have more updates on this rc. That would be nice. Hope to see more content.

Yeah, I am with you. It has been my experience that the Meilan mini is VERY accurate unless there is something wrong with unit. Mine is dead on with the GPS on my IPhone and a serious speedracer friend of mine compared it to the high end GNSS analyzer over many runs with both units in his car and they were virtually even. The only difference was that the GNSS had a much quicker refresh rate so the Meilan mini can read low if you don't give it enough time at full speed to pick up your top speed. So if you are accelerating hard and then crash or hit the brakes hard, the speed will read low on the Melian mini so if anything it is conservative. I was thinking about running some 500,000 diff fluid in the center diff to help the power distribute more evenly but now I am reconsidering as the wheelies while are very fun are not what I am looking to do when I am trying to do speedruns.

How do you get a 17 tooth pinion to fit in there? It just worked with the same mount as the 16 tooth? I was talking to someone else the other day that said they ran a 17 tooth pinion and I was thinking the mesh would be too tight… But maybe not? Great 50+ mph runs! I just got mine fixed last night and hope to run it when I get some free time.

I just got two thinking about a third on 3s it is good enough power to keep me exited .Great for the price man🤠👍

Awesome runs man! I'm more of an Off-Road person with my RCs and the HBX is a little beast.

Some nice speeds there!! Can I make a suggestion?.. i think it would be better if you stood more towards the middle/or the halfway mark of your runway instead of all the way at the end?. This way when you make your next pass you'll have a longer runway to hold stay on the throttle and More importantly you'll have more room to come to a gradual stop instead of having to lock up the brakes flipping the truck or worse running out of space and hitting that fence?.. I dont know just a thought i wanted to share. Otherwise keep up the great work. I can't wait to get a bigger pinion on my Thunder I have a another one but it's a 16 tooth and I think that's what it has stock. 😄✌

Off topic but I recently got the "Haiboxing 1/12th scale" truck. I love it. I remember u saying u replaced the tires from "stock tires" to others. I cannot remember which ones u said improved your performance. Could you please tell me which "wheels/tires" or "rims n tires" u recommend for the "Haiboxing TurbooST 1/12 scale model #2997A". I have never had anyone tell me that they don't believe my speeds.... but I am not surprised someone said that. Either their technique may not be good, their truck isn't running right, and/or their LIPOs are not very good. 3650 for sure (well, F540 but you know....)

On thgis segment....I hear and agree with u 100% ua-cam.com/video/nezTT-5Qpe8/v-deo.html "U do u" some bashing broke certain parts to certain trucks of mine that make me think twice before attempting another "tripple backflip" or whatever. I hear u. I seen videos of people racing Traxxas XRT on a ramped course and b4 hitting second ramp this kids "12S XRT" blew out its tire just from the rotation speed alone. Those tires alone arent cheap hence, you should use your own judgment as i do imo. But "u do u". Love your videos man. happy trails.

I understand using larger tires like gearing to increase speed. I think the truck would benefit from some street tires or maybe even slicks for a smoother run.

I like the twin motors sharing the load and you can get by with one esc. Hosim has a truck about the same size that’s using a 2212 out runner, maybe you could do two smaller motors with two small esc’s (10 to 20 amps). A lot lighter and smaller.

Great runs! That thing was moving! 46 mph on the stock power system on 3s was my best on the stock tires (47 mph with a 120A ESC on the stock motor/tires) and 54 mph on bigger tires with the stock power system. I have a new LIPO that is faster (did speedruns in my Bandit today to test it - editing the video) so if I run it again, I might.... might just get 47 on the stock ESC/motor/tires but IDK.... that may be a stretch.

I put my Laegendary Legend tires on the Thunder just for fun. Harder compound allows me to play around with the thunder without it flipping over so easily. I've gotta get some content up but for now I'm just letting you know how I mess around with my RCs. Awesome video and content man. I'm loven your videos!!

Diameter of the tires will affect your final gear ratio. A bigger pinion will compensate for that .But also to take into consideration that vibration and balance of the tires will also greatly affect speed. Friction is a killer lol

What speed did you end up getting it up to in this video? I’m at work and was curious.

Hey buddy great video again, if I may throw my opinion in with your battery I kind of learned that the c rating does impact your speed and acceleration when I went from a 2200 mah 80c I think to a zee 5200 mah c120 it went way faster but the tires do affect it but it shouldn't be much.. but like I said, I'm somewhat new to this and still learn so take it how ya want too buddy. I can't wait to see how much of a monster this little truck is going to be.

Enjoyed the speedruns! Is there any way you can stay in the throttle a little longer at that spot to make sure you get the top speed registered (in case that GPS lag time isn't getting your real top speed)? It looks like there may be more room in the direction you start but it is hard to tell in the video! That was a BEEFY LIPO! I totally can relate you don't want to break stuff/crash! It is nerve racking and frustrating to spend hours on a car only to have one run when you go a little too hard or don't let off when should have make all that time wasted plus all the time you now have to dump into the car to fix it! I am not big into drones but I would think it would only help bring in more subs/more eyes on your channel! Thanks for the shoutout!

I also replace the oil with 50 weight and a heavy grease in the front diff to give the rear more power and stop the front ballooning so much. It's been doing great so far for me.

Did you think it ever think about trying a set of nice foam tires on that?...I like the tires on the Thunder for offroad especially packed dirt, they hook up pretty good for my needs. But Sometimes I'll rip on the street to get a top speed or something. And I also hate skateparks 30 ft., smashing my truck to pieces just ain't my thing 😂. So i use it for off-road.

Yeah I had to lower the braking force on mine. Factory setting was set to 75 percent and when I hit the brake it'd flip instantly headover heels and land on its roof and just scrape all the way down the street until it stops. I was so pissed because but as we all know that 1st scar is the most hurtful one. 😂😂. I lowered it down to 25 it's beautiful.
