A planned logging road and single track ride ended up being a bit more gnarly that expected. Excellent ride with Chris, Alex C, Colin and Chad. A hot day on Vancouver Island.

Andre, Rob and I did one of the expert tracks (I think) Not so much an expert ride on dual sport but there is long stretch of rocky climb that can be difficult for one on big bike and not the right fitness level.

I was pretty sure I could go up that gnarly hill with my DRZ 400. No excuses but I'm pretty sure with my KTM exc-f 350 I would have make it up no problem. I tried 4 times and gave up after knocking my head pretty hard on the last attempt. I will be back to try again. My friends Rob T and Andre C. made it no problem on second attempt with their EXC-F 500

For those who always ask about battery range: 14km of slow technical stuff. 3 hours moving time, 69% battery left on the Surron Ultra Bee when we finished. Missing the Terra Nova enduro😢
that's my bestie
Awesome! Any regrets?
@@mennonitemoto5941 it was awesome. I sold my tuareg i was tired of waiting for parts all the time. I will buy hpcorse for my next adv bike. It was loud but sound and run so great
@wobblywaldo oh nice! What time did you change too? I'm new to this world and this is my 1st bike. I have found I'm offroad 90% of the time in sand, and it's a heavy bike to pick up!
@@mennonitemoto5941 I have installed the hpcorse almost right away. I was one of the first to get a tuareg in canada 2 years ago. I sold it a couple of month ago. I might get a kove 450, or a T7. Tuareg is the best bike but lack of dealer and delay for parts is not good for an impatient guy like me. Too bad. I do mostly offroad. All kind of offroad.
@wobblywaldo I pre-ordered my bike too, picked it up in calgary, 14 hours from home. I hear ya. I sat on a kove 450 in China last winter, my right foot sat mostly on the exhaust pipe...hated that feeling
@@mennonitemoto5941 I rode the kove 450 offroad, I felt great on it. It would be a good replacement for my drz, not sure if it would make a good adventure bike for longer trip in the usa. Not sure how it would be for thousands of Kms to reach some BDRs tracks in the us. That’s my only reserve. I loved it offroad as much as with my tuareg
Wow, beautiful, exquisite, thank you so much can you share the primary trails that brought you out to those points, amazing. The exposed single track in that environment and weather was breathtaking, delicious to the dirt minded, my orange 500 would love that, like a caged dog being released into the wild, sniffing here and there and ambling about without care ; ). I appreciate your candor in putting forward your disinterest in likes, awesome and a salve to attention grubbing youtube culture. FYI, I thought I was the only dirt guy ghetto enough to strap a jerry jug to the back of my KTM, hahaha.
Send me pm on instagram I can give you some pointer on where you can find those tracks. My name is wobbly_waldo on insta. Cheers
That terrain is out of this world! How does a fella like me, from Vernon, learn where to do this kind of riding? Wow. Mind blown.
Is that your way of saying "not telling?"
It’s not too far from Vernon :-) . If you contact me on instagram I can share some info on where to get to those trail. Just send me a pm at wobbly_waldo on insta.
@@DirtChimps I was asked not to share the locations publically. So I’m assuming I can share privately haha
Can I have one please
Thanks for taking us back, and sharing the video.
That trail looks fun
Which rear tire size do you have on surron ultra?
@@russian_soldier. Kenda K787 Equilibrium Trail Tire 18”
30:00 onwards is where exhaustion really started to set in. At that point I was less and less in control of my bike...
@@zordflea same for me. I think instead of going for a ride, one day we need to do some sessions where we drill stuff like pivot turn and jumping logs. Somewhere safe and near civilisation. I was getting tired because I dont have use the right technique. I don’t pop the front wheel correctly, mostly because I’m not confident and get overwhelm by the size of the log. I think with a bit of practice this trail will be piece of cake.😀 maybe with cooler temperature 🥵
25:18 one of my more successful pivot turns 😊
@@zordflea that’s a good one indeed 👍👍
Just had a similar experience on my Ultra 2 days ago. Dropped into a hard enduro trail close to sundown for the first time, and ended up down in a boudler filled ravine in the mud as it got dark. Trying to manage my energy and keep moving - and not panic! The question is always: can I come back up this hill if I go down and I have to turn around? The great thing about the weight of the UB is that I have pushed/walked it up some INSANE hills that I could never have gotten up with my gas bike.
Yeah man. I go solo in some trails with the ultra bee that I would never attempt with my gas bike. It’s just easier to move around, so light 😀
I just upgraded to a better and more powerful gas bike and my hill climbing world just exploded, easily getting up stuff I used to not even look at on my other gas bike. Unless its the Stark or perhaps the Arctic, I'm not convinced yet that a Surron could out perform an average gas dirtbike. Although that light weight and low seat def offers an advantage in some cases
what is the name of the application you using while riding ?
@@tevz1601 that’s Gaia GPS
Expert? That is every forest road in the hills/mountains of the SE. I'd send a beginner on a KLR up that road and just tell them to take it easy.
@@someguy5035 I think when touratech rated those routes, it’s like for BDRs, it’s rated for average riders to be able to ride those on big GS1200 😂. Not matter what Touratech has put together fantastic routes for us to enjoy
Hi bro can u ride ultra bee around vancouver downtown without registering it? Im 15 saving money to buy ultra bee scared to get ticket and keep getting pulled over bcs it looks like a dirtbike
@@BoorchiGa the ultra bee is not street legal. I think you could get along with the light bee but the ultra bee is the size of a dirt bike. I would not recommend riding on the street, not street legal at all.
Interesting expert section.. were there any official "expert" organized rides that included a bit of good singletrack at TT? I'm still watching some of the vids you've been posting. I remember in 2016 when I was there, I joined on a advanced ride and it had some good nasty loose sections of 2 track with a littttttle bit of single. 1200gs guy + 990 guys in my group were ripping em and making it look easy although it was still quite the challenge.
This route was a blast! Did it last year 👍🏻
That’s a fun one
Nice moderate trail.
Wow. . . whre is this trail? WYO or ID maybe??
@@campland2880 it’s near Plain - Washington
Thanks for an honest video. I can guarantee people climbed those hills in all steel two stroke enduros decades ago. Wind that shit out... momentum is key.
I can smell the moist leaves and dirt and a hint of gas and oil..... miss those kind of trails.. thanks for posting 🤙
Sounds almost as if the DRZ's suspension was not allowing the bike to keep constant traction.
The DRZ is not the best tool for those hill climb challenge 😀 I’ll be back with the FE or EXC-F :-)
That traction control demo was amazing! Looks like the perfect kind of bike for poking around, don't have to start the engine all the time. A local dealer here in Ontario has a few Ultra's on clearance for $5999, demo for $4999 CDN. Wish they would have imported the street legal version to Canada, I'd have one already. Otherwise, have too many toys in the garage already, but the brain won't stop...
If this is a ultra bee at this price go for it!! I got mine for like 10k our of the dealer.
I bought it, these bikes are amazing! Merci, gracias!@@wobblywaldo
hey dear wobbly do you mind sharing your suspension settings? :o
I left everything stock on the suspension. I did not touch touch the suspension settings. 😀
Just muffler? Or complete exhaust with decat?
based on what I see in 0:31 looks like only muffler
You can see exactly that where the cat usually is there is the junction between the two headers. This is a full exhaust
Looks like a good ride and hopefully not too much pavement.
A bit too much pavement to reach the gravel or dirt when you come from Victoria 😀
This is the perfect location for the Bee: very challenging yet very quiet so as not to upset all the people who live nearby.
What a lot of dead wood all over. Don't the forest guys clean them?
I bet that is MUCH steeper than it looks on camera!
Oh yes! The gopro flatten everthing 😀
Nice footage! How did you get from Gordon River to McClure? Last time I went through there, Bugaboo Main was blocked by the logging company.
When you come from port renfrew on gordon river road, don’t make a left to Bugaboo but continue north for 10kms and make a left on Loup Creek FSR, then stay on that main fst that goes parallel to the look creek (east side of the loop creek) then you will arrive on McClure.
@@wobblywaldo Thank you! I will try that next time I ride out there.
@@syntaxmsi soon enough the blocked section of bugaboo will be easier to access. Just need few side by side to open it for us :-)
This looks like a great ride to take my buddies on in June. Thanks for posting

I’m missing riding with my DRZ brother
That bird is a Grouse. The noise they make is called drumming.
Thank you!!! They did drum quite a bit 😀
how do you like your Husky? :)
Love it. It’s so capable I’ll never be able to exploit it fully to be honest. It’s one of the best enduro/single track weapon out there.
Great ride. Did you make a complete loop or backtrack?
At 00:50 that track is pretty hardcore lol.
et bah c'est cool :D
looking forward to another adventure
I can’t wait 🤟. I see Shaw Main on my To Go list of exploration with you 😀
Is the bike stock? Or you upgrades?
I upgraded the wheels and tires. KKE Rims 18” rear and 21” front. The rest is stock
Man... Vancouver Island scenery is mind blowing. I was wondering if you changed out the sprocket for a 54 or 58 to help with tech riding? cheers
Thanks. Yeah Vancouver Island is beautiful. Lot of awesome trails. I upgraded to a rear 53T sprocket but to be honest it’s not necessary. It’s probably too big. My ultra bee is a wheelie machine now lol. I probably need to get used to it. No problem lifting the front wheel for sure. Sport mode is dangerous 😀
@@wobblywaldo thanks dude🤟
how many miles was this ride? and what was battery life at the end?
Typically we ride 3 hours or so. Probaly 15 miles or so. We ride hard technical stuff. Slow speed. I usually have 40-45% battery left when we are done riding
What phone app are you using while riding?
An older iphone that I use just for navigation.
Sounds great
shawnigan?
Langford area. Flatty hill
@@wobblywaldo oh yepp
Having owned both I would say a trials bike and UB are two of the best 'play bikes' you can own--especially for hard terrain. Makes things so much easier. The lack of clutch can be annoying but I would say the UB takes the cake over all for the silence and b/c its more well rounded for faster riding too.
I could use a clutch that for sure. :-) I’m slowly learning to use throttle with finesse but with all that torque i’m still spinning the rear way to much when I get stuck trying to pass an obstacle. It’s cool not having to do any engine maintenance, oil change etc… (I have enough other gas bike to play mechanic :-) )
BC plate? where do you live?

@@wobblywaldowhy what's up with the engine head?
Just curious. What was your longest ride, and after that ride, what was the battery status. Asking for a friend. :)
Longest ride is probably 4 hours of technical stuff and still 40% battery left. After 4 hours of technical stuff my body is dead before the battery 😀
Nice riding!
That dude needs an EM trials bike. The new E Factor is cool. It is a 4 speed.
