Anyone know how to hook up 2 bose acoustimass sub speakers?

Not sure if it's the crappy music but they don't sound great do they it's muddy and a little thin.

When I was a kid I drooled over the Bose AM 3 speaker system. Whenever I'd be in Circuit City I would listen to them. I liked them because they were smaller and I am more fond of the subwoofer vented slot than a round port. They cost $400 back then. That's almost $1,000 today. Anyways I bought an AM3 from eBay about a year ago for $60. I hooked them up and the sound was just ok. I wasn't really blown away. The bass is a lot better than a pair of bookshelf speakers. Our of boredom I opened up the speakers. I found the materials used were very cheap. Not really surprised. I am pleased that after decades old, the speakers and foam surrounds were still great and not rotted. These speakers would definitely be a rip off for their original selling price. If they were being sold today, I would say a fair selling price would be not a dime over $200. Overall I'm happy with them for what I paid.

I can hear room echo, your room doesn't have enough things in it to get rid of that echo.

Are you using a subwoofer?

I got one 4-5 years ago, have it hooked up to a Jvc. Which is hooked up to an upgraded sharp sub and 2 dynaudio speakers. Works amazingly!

i went to a thrift store in Michigan today and found a pair cr6 for 8 dollars the woofers look mint also picked up a pair of AR acoustic researcb s-10 for 5 dollars i never herd of them im trying to figure something out probly needle in a haystak about 20 yeas ago my buddy had a pair of infinity's i wanna say they were big book shelf speakers or small floor speakers iv seen some with 2 woofers but his only had one woofer and i was saprized and the bass and how loud the tweeters were he was playing Metallica justice for all cd and i could not understand how those were so loud and still had bass for being smaller speakes i always had like 12 inch Cerwin Vegas i wish i could find out id get 2 pairs if i knew the model iv had a chance to get infinity 12in floor speakers for like a 100 but i figured if i get something that big mise well get the 15s

I still use 760iMk II and they still sound great after all these years.

I have the exact same 760 model (not the 760i or 760i SE which came later) and I have grown to love these speakers. I remember in 1991, these were winning 5 star reviews in the British hifi magazines of the time.

I just picked up a 760 with a spring clip. Glad you showed the doc as I can't find a picture with the spring clip anywhere. It unfortunately was just a single speaker but for $7.99 and I was looking for a center anyway I think it will do just fine.

I lOVE it. I have it connected to TWO Cerwin VegaSpeakers. The HD TOSHIBA TV is the sound source. LOVE it.

Mine seem to have lost thier high end edge, listening to a cymbal ride aint what it used to be ( after 20 + years ) . They haven't changed at the mid and low end though.

I had the smaller brothers, the Energy C50's. Same look, slighly smaller box with same 1" tweeter and a 4" woofer. When I first heard them I was not impressed. They sounded dull and flat with a narrow sound stage. I had to jack up the treble to bring out some detail and the 4" woofer didn't extend anywhere below 80 hz and were easy to bottom out when a little power was applied. I got tired of them real quick. Was lucky to find a buyer relatively quickly. I suspect the C100's aren't much better.

I wish you could have shown the process of connecting the subwoofer to the ampifier or receiver as well. Thanks

Also, what’s the line up on this series bc I had some smaller ones that I had in my record store from 96 to 2003. I think they were like CR6 with the hole in the back for hooking to a wall. So is the lineup CR- 5-6-7-8-9-10? My first pair of Boston’s were the HD with the cloth covers , but I prefer the metal covers on the CR models.

I had these or the smaller ones with the hole to mount on wall in my former record store and they sounded great and very reasonable for great sounding speakers. Maybe they were the CR5? I also had the HD 7 with the cloth covers and traded my friends for his CR8 or 9 with the metal grill and they both sounded great. I just saw a pair of used HD5 and would be perfect for my small room and I thh go ink I can get them for $20. from this store that sells Radom used electronics. I also looked on eBay and there a bunch of these Boston speakers for sales and wasn’t sure if I wanted a small bookshelf or tye smaller micro Boston speakers and only need a small ones. But many of these speakers that are over 20 years old say they been reformed. So I’m thinking do I want to do that and get cheap speakers and find the foam is coming apart? So yours seem to be working fine, but have you considered the foam coming apart or getting brittle before buying? The pair at this store with the cloth cover is not easy to take off and you need something like a credit card to get off. Anyway great sound and you have all 4 playing at the same time? Well, I’ve also learned the HD are the ones with the cloth covers and older and the CR Is the ones that came out around 95-96 and newer.

No, as the tweeter is on the bottom you will get off axis sound. These are designed to be mounted as surrounds high above ear level. You can reverse the speaker but remember the crossover was designed for the speaker to work as is. POLK HAS SPEAKERS DESIGNED FOR LEFT AND RIGHT. AND SPECIFIC CENTER SPEAKERS

We set up a 5 with 2 Bose bookshelf and a powered Base into a Sony amp sounds great..?

Picked up some Mission 750 limited edition at Goodwill for $39. In excellent condition.

I've had a set of AM5's for a number of years but did notice they did lack a mid range punch and I was able to cobble together a system using the 901's for the mid range and the AM'5s to handle the highs and the lows. The Base module has to be place about 6 to 12 inch's from a solid wall to get that low range. It was an impressive system and I utilized an Adcom GFA 555 II Amp which gave the 901's the power it needed and I had a Sony ES series pre Amp to drive the AM'5's. Sure now years latter there are cheap end speakers that have better frequency response and they do have a sweeter sound. If you do manage to find a system on the cheap they work great for small Apt's or dorm rooms, but don't expect earth shattering fidelity. They get the job done. A clean 60 watt power amp will drive them nicely.

I bought a similar pair of speakers today at a thrift store for 12 canadian dollars (around 9 usd) they are in better shape than yours and sound amazing. I'm pairing them with an old Denon pma250 amp.

What are those tall things behind the PSB speakers?

only $50 back in early 90's. it's ported in the front, mine has a round dust mark in the front where the port is. thanks for the review! They were the only affordable good sounding speakers i could afford in high school.. .. along with Sony v4s... $50. They survived college blasting... decades of use...still working smooth. I'm always surprised it hasn't rotted like my JBL bookshelf, or the Grados foam! At that time my brother got the 901's. Exciting time with audio discoveries! 5.1 surround demos in store with top gun...haha I'm getting all nostalgic now 👴

I have these speakers and they are mind blowing for there size. Very neutral. For the tiny size the quality of the bass is amazing. I have them hooked up to a power amplifier. Great speakers for a basic beginners system and doesn’t take up a lot of clutter. But they do need some high current.

I have refoamed the Mission 707, and 761 speakers. They sound phenomenal 😍. The cabinets are not so great, they pass. That midrange sound is so damn amazing I'm my opinion!

I had the original AM5 and it was ok for apartment listening levels. In a house the weakness of the AM5 were not immediately apparent but I would grow tired of music listening after about 30-45 min. I accepted that for many years as my interests were elsewhere, but when I started missing music in my life, Bose wasn't cutting it. I bought some large inexpensive speakers that totally blow away the AM5 at all listening levels. Later, adding a powered subwoofer made the difference even greater. The AM5 only has small form factor convenience going for it. With my newer speakers, I can listen to music all day and not tire of it.

What you got to understand about this line of speakers they were very budget when they come out and all things considered they hold up quite well I Own the 760i non se model owned 762i I also have 77c1 and 771 all sound great but the water based glue is a massive issue will start drying up and separating as did mine

The Boston Acoustics CR series speakers have an airy full sound with plenty of presence. Very underrated.

Been there done that, these things are horrible, and no thats not a subwoofer, its a superwoofer
