I`m Dave King, I now live in Northern Sweden, Lapland with my 50 huskies. We moved here from Alaska and have spent a livetime travelling and exploring in the Arctic, either by dog team, kayak, skis or sailboats.
I`m passionate about my dogs, the Arctic, the Arctic Ocean and the people who live in the Northern regions.
In Winter, I`m mostly out and about with my dogs. In Summer I guide kayaking expeditions in Alaska, Norway, Greenland & Iceland in addition to running an environmental cleanup & awareness initiative called "Arctic Plastic Project".
Arctic Alive is my contribution to sharing the wonderful diversity of the Arctic, sharing my adventures, the adventures of others, news items, environmental issues and, of course, a regular dose of dog fur with my husky family !

A few drone images from one of the final test sails before packing two MiniCat Explorers for the www.arcticairexpedition.com to East Greenland. Fully loaded, and a 65 km wander down the lakes beside my home in Swedish Lapland.

Following on from our epic first sea trials of the new, soon to be released MiniCat 520 "Explorer" expedition boats in Norway, now we get to see how they behave in light winds...or in this case, almost no wind. These two boats are the very first of what will shortly be an addition to the already meg MiniCat fleet and these we`ve designes with a specific expedition goal in mind in East Greenland...

After 2 years of development, we finally test our two prototype MiniCat 520 Explorer catamarans. Evening Paddle in the Arctic

Enjoy a few moments as we did, paddling on the North side of Tomma in Northern Norway. This was a brief respite by kayak during an epic week of wind rain and some sun whilst test sailing two brand new expedition catamarans that we will take to East Greenland later this Summer. Stay tuned for some upcoming sailing in this wonderful part of Norway.

End of March now. Time the real cold has eased but also time the really big snowfalls arrive. Our with some newbies to the park...well its a lake, but we think of it as a park, to make snow angels and just hang out. Bit aged now but super tune from The Common Linnets.

A Little Husky Chaos & Calm

Its early November, thin snow and even thinner ice on the lakes but we are able to make some trails on the logging roads and into the open spaces of the forests, enough to stop training with the ATV and finally get on a sled. Much excitement all round !
