    I’m currently debating between the Grand Rapids desk + free spring combo or the peak series. Could you do a shake test between those models? I’d be happy to shell out the extra couple grand if there is a reasonable upgrade as a lifetime desk.

      If not the grand rapids specifically, I’d like to see the apex pro max vs. peak pro, just to understand where the price difference comes in. The website claims both support 600lbs so the crossbar seems irrelevant unless it’s not being marketed?

    I have a question, respectfully. I currently have a 80x31 Flexispot standing desk. It's massive and 100% sturdy. I watched this video and was like HMMM I wonder..nope it doesn't wobble. I have a Secretlab desk on the way just because I've always wanted one. Here is my question, how many of us use torque wrenches and especially Locktight? Because that's how I did mine and it is niiiiice and sturdy.

      Making it collapsable is what uplift does and we found a solid rigid connection was more stable. There is a lot of flexibility with size tops with just the sizes we offer.

  • @Twiggyskulls
    @Twiggyskulls 14 днів тому

    Yes, standing desk get less stable the higher you go with them. That's just simple physics to understand. That's also why your desk is reinforced with twice as many legs, which means twice as many motors. Compare it to your Detroit model which has single legs instead and see how it fairs against the Magnus. I like mine, it's quiet and I can house my PC tower underneath for a cleaner setup without having to buy a bunch of third party garbage to do so.

  • @nickdunn144
    @nickdunn144 14 днів тому

    I find the comments on this video kind of interesting and perplexing. But then again, I don't really have the time, energy, or desire to keep up with what I'm guessing is some kind of internet/Reddit drama. I work from home and while I do have hobbies that get me out of the house, I also enjoy PC gaming. So, I spend at least 6 hours per day at my desk, but some days it's more like 12. I've had this frustrating habit of changing desks periodically over the years; I've probably gone through 8 or 9, at this point. I've tried Ikea, Uplift, Secretlabs, custom solutions (like a countertop mounted on top of filing cabinets), antique desks...you name it. Most modern desks have always felt fragile or cheap to me. Even relatively stable non-standing desks wobble and move a bit when you bump into them. This is perfectly reasonable, but would bother me often. You see, while those "custom solutions" never quite worked ergonomically and those antique desks were clearly designed for a different time and never worked for me, the desks that did work for me just felt fragile and cheap in comparison. This is one reason I avoided standing desks for a while. Now, is Desk Haus over-priced? Maybe. I'll admit they're very pricey and I had a hard time justifying the purchase. Sometimes you get what you pay for, and sometimes you over-pay for vacuous marketing. Sometimes, quality doesn't matter *that much* to you because the product isn't overly-important to you. Is their "marketing" crass and maybe a bit mean? Maybe. But I've found it to be more down-to-earth and honest (note: "honest" doesn't necessarily mean "true"). I'm all for civility in life and online, but sometimes I'm willing to accept blunt honesty; civility can sometimes obscure the truth. I decided I wanted a desk that would last me at least 15-20 years, but preferably a lifetime. I decided I wanted a desk that wouldn't have fancy features that may break or no longer serve my needs one day (for instance, built-in cable management). I wanted a desk I could replace the parts for (such as the controller) or add and remove things as I needed them (such as cable management solutions). I genuinely searched and I honestly found very little. You may have a problem with the "marketing" and you may dislike the prices for their products. But I couldn't really find any other small companies based in my country (the U.S.) that seemed to genuinely care about their product. I get it - it's just a desk. It's a weird thing to be passionate about, but I like finding those weird people out there who are passionate about strange, niche things. I decided to save for one of their desks. Instead of treating the decision like I might treat the decision to buy a bag of chips at a grocery store, I decided to view it more like an investment (like I might a new GPU or laptop). I bought the Grand Rapids desk, which, admittedly, is extremely pricey. I didn't enjoy making the purchase, but I absolutely do not regret it. Do those other desks wobble as much as they claim? Maybe not, but I don't care. My desk is absolutely rock-solid. Even in instances where I would fully and reasonably expect it to move a tad, it does not. It's maybe even over-engineered, but it's the only standing desk that reminds me of those antique desks that seemed to be made of granite in comparison to most modern desks. Except this one allows me to stand. This desk's solid wood top weighs more than some complete desks that I've owned - it's practically a mountain on legs. In fact, if I have anything negative to say about my desk, it's that it was a bit difficult to get into the house and assemble. Now, do you really need a mountain on legs as a desk? Maybe not. I've taken a ride in a Mercedes Benz before, and I can say without a doubt it was better in every way than any car I've ever owned. But I'd never buy one because I don't feel it's necessary for me. I feel differently about a good desk. So, I can say if you're willing to pay the price, whether it's over-priced or not, you will probably get an outstanding product. So few things are made with quality in mind these days. This feels like a blast from the past in all the right ways.

Imagine taking advice from a desk reviewer whose drinking a beer mid review and trying to promote their own product at the same time lol, real professional. Also, why in the world would you buy that desk if you own a desk company... if yours was a good desk you'd use your own desk and not buy another companies OR you bought to set it up in a way you could make it look wobbly so you could convince people not to buy it because secretlab is taking too much market share lol or maybe you really got a defective one in which I am positive secretlab would accommodate you in fixing the problem.

    Hey I'm currently considering Deskhaus for an Apex Pro. My current table top dimensions are 70" x 29". With that dimension, the 27.5" feet make the most sense. However I do plan on upgrading tabletop to something like an 80" x 33" or 34" in the not too distant future. Would 33"/34" be too much for the 27.5" to handle (and thus I should do the 31.5")? I'm assuming the 31.5" is way overkill and feet would be sticking out for my current 70" x 29". Thanks

    Hello, I think this video could answer some of your questions. He tested the wobble at a different height with and without a weight. The video was made 2 years ago. The Standing Desk of the FUTURE! Secretlab MAGNUS Pro XL - Setup & First Impressions! ua-cam.com/video/X-D6SO10r4I/v-deo.html ----------------------------- from 4min 35 sec - ua-cam.com/video/X-D6SO10r4I/v-deo.html ----------------------------- 65 cm (empty desk) I quote from the video recording: "When I started to do my wobble test at 65cm which is my sitting height the desk is rock solid. " 100cm (empty desk) I quote from the video recording: "However it gets more interesting as we go higher at 100 cm which is my standing height I can start seeing the wobbles.." 120cm (empty desk) I quote from the video recording: " and when we go even higher at 125cm this just doesn't look right" I quote from the video recording: "In my experience all standing desk wobble a bit especially when it goes higher I think it will be more stable once we set the desk up and get some weight on the desk we'll test this later on" ----------------------------- from 11min 14sec - ua-cam.com/video/X-D6SO10r4I/v-deo.html ----------------------------- I quote from the video recording: "I would say that with everything on my desk the wobble is a lot better than when it was empty. Even all my computer accessories and stuff set up on the desk it does wobble a bit more than usual standing desk that I've tried in the past and at higher heights it just doesn't look right" "I was a quite concerned so I did have to contact them and get them to check it out and they said this doesn't look right either. They said that with these prototypes are actually made differently from their final production models. They have all these machines and checks in place to make sure the tolerances are really strict and to make sure it's not gonna wobble like the one that I have" I hope that it would be helpful for you. 🙂
