EMPIRE DEFENCE
Приєднався 24 лют 2021
Good Evening,
I cover a broad range of topics, yet generally focused around the axiom of the defence industry.
In particular I cover British defence firms.
The roar of the jet and the growl of the tank are fantastic to watch, but defence is far more. It is not merely a spectacle but a serious endeavour.
*I am in no way affiliated with or a representation of the views or potential realities of firms mentioned by this channel*

Dimorphodon: Sierra Variant
In this video I talk about the civilian variant of Dimorphodon UAS: Dimorphodon Sierra.
Without the need for an EW payload, Sierra is able to increase battery capacity, and therefore operational time. Furthermore, because it doesn't need to be inserted into the battlespace, we can mount it on a non-foundational ballast security tower that allows for faster recharge (due to increased wind at higher altitudes) and constant 360 degree regard (even while charging.) Furthermore, in situ recharge being equivalent to operational flight time means that a team of only 2 is needed for surveillance and area guarding 24/7/365!
Much as I am fond of Bravo, Sierra is likely my favourite variant.

Say Good Evening to Dimorphodon UAS: A Mission System by EMC Operations Ltd
Переглядів 20610 місяців тому
In this video I go over EMC Operations' first proprietary hardware system: Dimorphodon UAS. Our insertional ISR drone looks sleek, but has huge versatility to back it up. Able to configure rotors to thrust vector, increase precision and use as active canards and fins, Dimorphodon is as agile as it gets (and with a dodecarotor system...powerful too!) Furthermore, it has a total of 23 cameras cap...

In this video, I talk about, possibly the most important aspect of Anaconda UAS by EMC Operations: its ability to create zones of confinement through unit coordination, eventually forming a 3-D matrix which allows for constriction.
121: Anaconda UAS Propulsion and Avionics
Переглядів 26Рік тому
In this video, I talk about the unique 12 rotor propulsion system that allows for speedy intercept by Anaconda UAS. Additionally, all rotor supports are able to rotate to either act as fins or wings for the long range endurance.
120: Anaconda UAS Pod System
Переглядів 14Рік тому
In this video, I talk about the revolution or new technology that allows for self-sustaining pod systems. Anaconda UAS is not only able to establish a sort of sentry outpost, but it is entirely powered in the field. That is to say it doesn’t require return to base to refuel or change batteries ever.
119: The Problem with Modern UAS Design

2026. The year of Strix? In this video I talk about the new UAS by BAE systems: Strix. A really interesting concept prioritising lower cost solutions (including for razer weapons packages,) alongside a more versatile design that differs from the divergence we’ve seen in the past few years (between super advanced stealth systems (generally loyal wingmen,) purist ISR and classical combat drones.)...

Very interesting thank you. I have seen some pictures of the drone, but not any in detail specifications of the program. Do you know if the concept 2 is the design they’re taking forward? During the video I might have had to rewind a couple of times to understand, but we don’t speak the Kings English quite like he does, this close to the Scottish border. 😂
I saw it at DSEI this year, looks fantastic. One never knows with these sort of projects. FalconWorks may take it on, but if it’s there to act as Loyal Wingman (after the Mosquito programme got cancelled a few years ago) the U.K. would probably just buy Fury under license…and for the sort of capability it’s putting forth (with the missiles they had mounted at DSEI) it may just end up fulfilling op-strike if the U.K. decides not go for GA’s gambit. Who knows though! I don’t recon it will, but you can’t predict these things…the MOD is good at a lot of things…just not timely, on-budget procurement of defence equipment 😂
@@empiredefence I was thinking it will likely be a loyal wingman to the Tempest program, when we realise that concept in a few years, at least then we will have a better idea of what to expect, from both by the sounds of it Very interesting thank you
@@616CC Quite. I’m just saying we may go with Anduril’s Fury (if they don’t manage to get C1&C2 up and together.)
Have a look at Jake Broe's style of delivery - Introduction/content/conclusions. By being more systematic in delivery you will get more hits. Keep Going!!
I meant Joe Blogs! Sorry
Dont listen to the idiots in the comments, these are an extremely important unit, and we dont need these officer to do anything other than keep our nuclear facilities safe, they arent HO police.
Weird video!
Very interesting video
For military use or for police use?
Sierra Variant for Civilian/Guard/Police, Bravo for military
So is it a target engagement drone or a surveillance drone?
Both, but Sierra is only surveillance.
Best wishes to you and your company. It seems like a great set of services you offer.
Good video mate. I think we should send the entire stock over the ukraine including the 600km variant.
We have more advanced stuff now so we should give it to them
Thanks! I would have to disagree though. We must remember that Storm shadow is currently our only only air launched cruise missile and there are inherent risks in sending it to Ukraine. We must be cautious.
@@empiredefence I'm not sure about that 🤔
@@empiredefence but love your intelligent concise video I have subscribed
Storm shadow is due to be upgraded this has only just been stayed?
Well explained - and current affairs smile upon your video as a relevant and useful piece of work!
Certainly, what are your thoughts on sending them to Ukraine?
@@empiredefence Good video, and thanks for the comprehensive history and capabilities. For myself, it just seems like the UK is EOL as much equipment it can in the hopes it will do >something< against Russian air defence. However, given the amount of short, medium and long capabilities they have and the issues with ECM which have been throwing off more modern HIMARs, their effectiveness maybe lacking. Of course, it all depends on the targets, and given the UAF propensity to hit civilian infrastructure I expect they will be picking as soft a target as they can find. Time will tell if this is yet another 'wonder weapon' or just more expensive scrap, which it to be replaces by even more expensive scrap when they run out of them.
@@veritanuda Well put!
Does this cruise missile breach mach on the final descent? Good, informative video, btw, thanks! 😊👍
As far as I’m aware as it approaches the target it tends to slow down (to minimise profile) to about Mach 0.38-0.45 (even if it’s doing a pop up strike.) It can go supersonic in initial flight stages when the engine is in action, and it’s at high altitude (1.2-1.3.) Even going slower on final descent, the BROACH packs enough punch to get through about anything!
Thanks. That was very helpful.
Glad to hear it!
Interesting. I just saw Turkey release a similar looking drone called Anka 3 for taxiway test before flight.
Yep. There are a lot of designs that are somewhat derivative of the same idea going forward. Nonetheless, capability differs based upon internal systems (esp datalink!)
@@empiredefence True , it's unfortunate though that the UK hasn't ordered or progressed with this project and advanced the skills to maintain engineers. Jackal drone is progressing fast though which is a UK, Turkish collaboration of a different class drone.
@@theancientsancients1769 Jackal could be incredibly powerful, but also incredibly difficult to restock (with only 2 shots.) I’m of the opinion that combat UAS should be moving towards higher capacity capability, with lower cost. The video of jackal firing martlet was impressive, but for a more integrated battlespace the teaming systems have to change (if you’re going to use something that has such low combat capacity, lower speed etc.
@@theancientsancients1769 emcoperations.co.uk (bottom of the page.) Anaconda. Trying to achieve that.
@@empiredefence Maybe like have smaller attack drones mothership? While others protect the mothership?
Also CLOS etc, although not so much in use anymore
Great video mate 👍 I think the UK as some brilliant military technology coming out the dragonfire laser system will be one of them taranis and hopefully the fighter jet tempest alot of great STUFF 👍🇬🇧✌️
You have an amazing voice
Thanks very much :)
@@empiredefence you're welcome. I checked out some of your content, excellent explanation. I have two things to say if it matters. First, it would be nice if you could give an introduction what you are going to talk about and some context of the subject, so that us viewers who don't know first thing about drones and planes can also learn from you. Second you can also use pictures and diagrams so that video can become more engaging for us. Thank you.
@@ankitaaarya the former sounds like a good idea, I’ll do that! Thanks!
Is that vodka he's drinking.
😂 The assumption that clear liquid is vodka may suggest one has been partying a little excessively. Not vodka, but water.
@@empiredefence Good man.
The third half don’t know what MBDA stands for.
The fourth half can’t spell MBDA. (Just in case you’re one of those people from the third half, it’s an acronym of consortium signatories names.)
The question is now, how can these firms compete with new and exciting, Silicon Valley style defence startups that draw the eye. Do they have to bring themselves down to that level to compete necessarily?
You need to show some images in this audiovisual media environment and also try to speak American because you're hard to understand for your loyal international audience.
I probably should have some audiovisual media, but again, too many people are fascinated with explosions rather than what underlies those explosions. One shouldn’t have to quite literally make an aeroplane noises to get adults to eat the informational vegetables.
Likely I’m hard to understand for most, perhaps turn on subtitles because I don’t think I’ll be doing an American accent 😂
Speak American? Americans speak English, I can understand him normal
@@theancientsancients1769 That’s what we like to hear! 😄
It’s interesting. To make this more clear, the suggestion is that defence firms owning their sites means more innovation and facility specialisation as they tailor it to their needs. Consortiums working on joint held sites optimises ability 🤷♂️
Definitely impressive
Conditions that defence firms operate under are harsh, and yet they still continue to thrive, be innovative and contribute to national and ally security.
0:46 Also, it’s important to remember that defence firms also face the normal issues of running a business (a large business,) which are huge pressures in and of themselves.
Relation to sky guardian?
Sky Guardian is the protector, only unmodified. Effectively a base variant.
A really brilliant concept that would be hugely important and influential if a war were to break out with China over Taiwan.
So the question is, what specifically was wrong with the JASSM that it needed a naval overhaul?
Largely altimeter adjustment for better sea skimming and loads of radar evasion software etc
It will be particularly interesting to see how this plays out when considering potential integration with palletised deployment systems.
Today Swedish officials say Sweden will send the Archer. More info to come :)
Largely, while concepts mentioned here may or may not be viable, defence firms won’t try them considering how long it would take to implement, and the fact that bureaucracy is required in innovative interims in order to focus on true progress. As is mentioned here, they work hand in hand to an extent (but also contra to each other to another degree.)
It's all 💩. Force should be disbanded and the job handed over to the h/o and mdp.
Why do you say that? It’s logistically rather difficult to integrate them all together. That’s why separation exists more generally.
@@empiredefence they're appalling mate. Spend most the shift sleeping and terrified to deal with any police work. Lib dems had the right idea to try and get rid on the quango list.
@@SnakePliskin762 I would argue that the importance of it is indisputably enormous regardless of integrative status within the rest of the force. What do you think would change were the job handed over?
@@empiredefence you should join it and see at first hand, you believe all that 💩
@@SnakePliskin762 I haven’t the information to say whether it needs reform. Yet I am firm in belief that such an organisation is hugely important and carries our an essential role.
Protector will likely utilise missions specific payloads. What do you think about the idea that dumb bombs could be used more often based upon aircraft speed, wind speed and distance from the target etc from sensors?
Harrier is incredible
Absolutely it is. Visually spectacular and excellent performance.
Interesting
I think that while these mobile howitzers are impressive, super cost efficient towed artillery still has a really important place
Yes absolutely. There needs to be varying degrees of effectiveness (accuracy, power and manoeuvrability) based upon what the situation (or campaign) demands.
The same applies to cost effectiveness
I would definitely agree than lasers despite the fact they're useful will still require other defence systems to support them
I think all will have their place, but for now, guns and missiles aren’t going anywhere!
I think that guns play a larger role than people think. They're far more useful than people give credit for (especially at low altitude.)
Yes, particularly when we look at something like SkyNex, which is just as efficient!
Very interestinf
That’s really quick. Are there any equal competitors?
Other self propelled artillery pieces exist, but not with such efficiently (debatably.)
Interesting
Is protector just British?
The system is partially, but the payload orientation is
So protector is significantly better than reaper. 3.5x the armaments plus way better recon ability
Yes, although likely it won’t be fully kitted out with Brimstones
EMPRE, how is it going?-yo,total fantastic .all the best~ 😯
It’s going well, thanks. How’s it going for you?
How expensive is it?
It entirely depends upon how many one orders…
