    This video made this guitar gave me a much more realistic view of this guitar. The Ola Englund videos make it look like a sleek, high end, master built instrument for a low price and your video was much more realistic like its a thick polyfinish guitar with cheap electronics and sloppy routes but its still sortof a good value for the money more or less. Much more realistic and not a marketing video to try to get you to impulse buy a guitar. Thank you!

      it's actually a humbucker and single coil in one pickup ring. The smaller of the two toggles is only a two way switch and chooses either humbucker or single coil, then the larger toggle is a three way that chooses bridge/middle/neck. Thanks for watching!

      Thanks for watching! I meant to comment on your question sooner, sorry for the delayed response. As far as I've been able to tell, Matt has changed up his boost/distortion/fuzz pedals on a semi regular basis. I know that at one point, he was using the Pharaoh as his main fuzz but that was many years ago (per BAT themselves in online forums). I don't know how much he uses the RM, but I think the DOD250 into dirty/breakup amps was more Mike from YOB's thing (Quantum Mystic is a refined Ross Distortion, similar circuit to the DOD250, and Mike was using a Marshall Plexi clone(? or original/reissue?) at the time IIRC. Don't quote me on any of this, I don't know either of them personally!

    They all sound different, but they all sound good. Hard to pick clear preference, but hard to justify the extra price for Ethos or Dumbloid from this video. What was your impression in the room? Do the "extra pricey and hard to get pedals" has something special?

    • @deuceii9498
      @deuceii9498 Рік тому

      Thanks for watching! Yeah my demos are pretty low fi, just the microphone into an iRig adapter to my iPhone. It'd be a lot better to hear the differences between them if I was going into a DAW. In the room, while I felt I could get something I liked out of all of them except the Mojo (way less gain than the other pedals), and I would've been happy with either the J. Rockett or the Zendrive, I kept the Dumbloid and Ethos because they both have something more organic to them, they feel more amp like than the other pedals. But would I say it's several hundred dollars difference? No, not at all.

    • @deuceii9498
      @deuceii9498 2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! I've thought about your question and gone back to play through both pedals side by side. I'd say the Raw Heart has less gain on both sides, and is more like an overdrive/distortion, but the Rabid Mammal is way more fuzz based and has a lot more gain overall. The Raw Heart has a bit "cleaner/clearer" EQ, the Rabid Mammal is thicker/fatter overall. Both pedals have a lot of tonal options, and can get a wide variety of tones. If you want to get more into fuzz territory, then Rabid Mammal would be better and I think it would sound more different from your other pedals/amp. Hope that helps!

      Thanks for watching! I'd say the Pharoah is a modern take on the big muff/doom type sound. Is it modern metal? Not really. But modern doom/sludge? Yes. I stayed away for awhile as well, but once they turned things around, and artists like Cory Wong, Robben Ford, Rhett Schull, RJ, and even Sweetwater endorsed their products and have been working with them again, that regained my trust. Their Clean Boost pedal and buffer might be the best I have ever tried. The Ultra Phonix is really close to a Dumble ODS, but the Vertex SSS-SRV pedal is more versatile I think. You can get both clean and dirty Dumble tones out if it that are far more pleasing to the way I play than the ODS style pedals. It reacts to string and pick dynamics more like a real amp. It’s right up there with the Ethos and Shin, at a fraction of the price.

      That was reportedly an op-amp based Big Muff, and the Black Arts line op-amp muff is the Crown of Horns. That one has a different tone than the various Pharaoh pedals. It would be my suggestion over all the ones in this video.

      @@deuceii9498 thanks! crown of horns is it more like a standard Op Amp Muff, or like an Op Amp "Pharaoh"? (talking about mids or stack well, for example)

      @@algarridm I'd say it's more of a Pharaoh Op Amp, if I remember right there's a mids switch on it that can make it more scooped when disengages. There's also two buttons, one of which defeats the tone stack just like on the Op Amp big muffs.

      @@algarridm it's definitely like an op-anp Pharaoh with a huge boost. I have both the Pharaoh and the COH. The COH has a mids knob though and with it at zero it sounds similar to the original op amp muff that was on SD. I think it's way better than an original op amp muff. Has the Pharoah tone stack as far as I know, which makes it sound a bit thicker than an original op amp muff. I actually have an original op amp muff, not the reissue, and it does sound beautiful and creamy compared to other muffs. But it kind of gets lost in the mix on its own. It also doesn't have a true bypass so it sort of passively boosts everything else on your board lol. Makes everything sound a bit louder and noisier, though I kind of like that haha.

    Thanks for this comparison! I already have the pharaoh, think it's still worth it to get the priestess?

      Thanks for watching! I think the Pharaoh and the Priestess overlap a bit in that they're both great doom/sludge/stoner fuzz pedals, but they are different enough that I think they're both worth having.

    Nice review ! What kind of power supply adapter are you using for the Stereo chorus pedal ? is it 9v or 10v. The pedal itself says 10v, however, i see online alot of people are using 9v cables.
