[FFXIV] Project SOLDIER - Cloud-Inspired Samurai Remake
Why isn't there a melee DPS in FFXIV that wields a greatsword? Wouldn't it be incredible to fight like Cloud? With that idea in mind, this project was born.
This is a complete remake of the Samurai job, integrating Cloud's iconic skills with new animations and elemental attacks like fire, lightning, and ice. Greatswords take the place of traditional katanas, all part of a design inspired by the combat and style of FF7 Remake, Dissidia NT, and Super Smash Bros.

This is amazing! I've never considered Cloud as a Samurai when the Dark Knight has the giant buster type swords, but I cannot deny the samurai skill set more suits the guy for whom a giant sword is just as light as a katana...

how do I glam on greatswords?
The included weapon pack automatically replaces 246 katanas with greatswords, no glamour needed. If you want to use custom weapons, you’ll need to make an install pack for them, but it’s not too difficult.
Hmm question: Does this work in PvP? I think there might be a few PvP actions that aren't shown here possibly.
I’m not too familiar with PvP since I haven’t really played it. Might look into adding those actions in a future update
can we use the mod without cloud mod? means the skill and stance is change but it still show our character
Sure! The mod changes the skills and stance, but your character stays the same. Plus, with so many modded outfits out there, you can mix and match for whatever style you want

Fantastic, the only VII weapon is in XIV is murasame, still waiting for masamune as a relic weapon. I hope in this live letter they collab with VII, both got mobile games,i want to see which char would use their job in ever crisis and i want cloud hair in mogstation, thoses contests prizes i know that i have no chance of winning but one day,one day

Oh my god- custom animations are just... I love them. Then there's the impact-frames, oh my-- I NEED IT NOW.
Could you imagine FFXIV one day suddenly putting Cloud in the game as a majour character? I don't think the player base could handle it XD
Is this only supported by Penumbra? Or will TexTools get the job done, too?
Penumbra is recommended. A user reported that the job gauge stays default with TexTools, so to avoid issues, I suggest using Penumbra
@Bangja0618 I've actually run into that problem myself with a few job overhaul mods. Some replace the job gauge just fine where others just don't seem to work, for seemingly no reason at all. Might be time to bite the bullet and just switch to Penumbra, haha.
So uh dumb question, with these names and inspirations. Did you base some of them on his War of Visions movement? Because he has some of these attacks in the game, lol. Also, when my new PC comes in next week I'll be using this on my SAM. You did such an amazing job. Just uh, nobody tell Yoshi P. :0
The animations are crafted with elements from FF7 Remake, Dissidia NT (Braver, Omnislash), and Super Smash Bros (Blade Beam, Hyper Cross Slash), along with inspirations from Rebirth, FFEC, and a few others. I'll be releasing an update soon to fix some known issues, improve compatibility with other mods, and add support for the Multihit plugin. Stay tuned!

would actually love something like this on DRK, since it does already use a GS, but the Vanilla stuff kinda boring. Have a few packs, but getting bored of them

Amazing stuff, just picked it up myself! Out of curiosity, do you have a good guide for mods you used for cosmetics, and how you built the body and face and such? I'm pretty damn tempted to do a new alt character and just make em Cloud, lol.
Heya o/ first of all amazing work on this mod! Unfortunately i ran into some trouble while playing around with it >.< Just like some of the other commentors i ran into two problems which i cant seem to fix. 1) the Job Hud and Icons. I made a whole new mod pack just for this mod so i wouldnt run into conflicts whatsoever, however, the Icons refuse to change, even though I selected it in the Penumbra Interface section. Also the Kenki bar disappears completely and instead of 3 symbols, i have 6 overlapping ones x.X 2) The weapon modpack. Havent really figured it out yet how to convert the DRK mod to a SAM mod, but I found a work around by using a SAM mod that replaces the Bokken. BUT - as a Lala, the weapon doubles in size when using the Iaijutsu actions. (which is not a real problem it just looks a bit goofy xD) 3) is more of a question... but will we be able to get rid of the camera-lock on Climhazzard and LB3 ? Dont get me wrong the animations for it are great! Animations and sounds are perfect! But while using it the camera moves under the map/battlefield which becomes a bit annoying :/ But I read in the comments that you are working on toggles on/off in future updates. Will the camera lock be included? ^^ And keep up the good work! PS For the Lala players that ran into problems with the Bike animation not being shown properly, this is how i fixed it on my Lala: - install the basics first - install the additionals for Lalafell - install the Bike_0.7 (Lalafell M,Lalafell F) - Set 01_Basic to 1 and 05_Lalafell Additional to 0

That’s a bug, and I expect to fix it by tomorrow. 3. Yes, adding more adjustment options isn’t difficult. I’ll work on it after fixing the necessary issues first.
Fucking amazing work
This mod looks amazing! It’s perfect for Samurai, though I can’t help wishing it was for Dark Knight instead. If there were a Dark Knight version like this, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
Junjou is making a Cloud-themed DRK called "Soldier First Class", but it's still a work in progress.
Weirdly enough, I have no auto-attack or iaijutsu casting animations but nothing seems to be conflicting... any idea what I might be doing wrong?
The Iaijutsu casting animation is in 04_Bike. As for auto-attacks, they were intentionally hidden in the design since they made the animation and sound effects feel messy. Hope that helps!
@Bangja0618 I do have 04_Bike installed, Miqote_F specifically, but I'll do some more testing on my end to see if I can figure out anything
I was looking exactly for a mod like this, didn't expect to find it on Samurai, but I'm glad nonetheless! Is there an option to forgo the motorcycle on Tenka Goken/Spinning Slash? It's an amazing animation and vfx, don't get me wrong, it's just my character is very "anti-machine/anti-technology" and while I do still intend on getting the mod, I am also not entirely sure if it's something I can customize or if I'd be able to update should a patch come out without the motorcycle or if I'd have to repurchase it.
Hi! Glad you like it. I’m planning to add a skill replacement pack in a future update, so there’ll be more options for some skills, including Spinning Slash.

Even though I have the fusion sword mod and it's working, it doesn't reflect on the katana replacement version. How can I get it to work like it does in the video
Hi! Heiwa's weapon mod was originally mapped to a greatsword, if I remember correctly. So you'll need to remap it to a katana.
@Bangja0618 I'm having the same issue. How would one go about remaping those textures when the modpack replaces katanas with their greatsword counterparts?
@ You can use TexTools to import the greatsword mod and select a katana as the remaping item. Then, export it as a Penumbra install package.

I like this a lot, I do have three questions as I did get the full version. Is there a way to put the sword on the back? As of current, the sword stays on the side of the person when putting the sword away. Second, how do you get the UI mods to work? I cannot seem to get the icons and such to change. (Edit: I solved this issue by in Penumbra by allowing my preset to change the UI interface) Finally, is there a way to get the sword you're using? I downloaded the sword from the xivmod, but it seems that all the swords I chose within' the mod didn't convert to the one you had used. This mod is awesome!

This looks sick! Definitely gonna be keeping an eye on this one. Just gotta be sure of one thing though: this doesn't have any manipulations that would cause a GM to come down on you for having it, right? None of the animations cause any server side visual inconsistencies?

Just to follow up on this and put this out there for anyone with similar concerns: the things that get you noticed and detected by SE (albeit pretty rarely, its not like they have literal police for it) are things that specifically move you character from point A to point B: that means stuff like dashes, jumps, backsteps, etc. Now, the thing is with that, dont get confused by the visual effect. It doesnt matter if your character jetpacks into space visually for a backstep, as long as your camera has that same familiar movement backwards, you're a-okay. Watch that camera movement, that's your indicator on whether you're at risk or not. Everything else is pretty much fair game. And yeah, SE knows damn good and well, we mod. Some of their staff even show up in modders discords lol. They also know it keeps people subscribed.

Hmm...really cool mod, but there's quite a bit of vfx conflict with a couple of teleport mods I use. Both the Blessing of Light TP and Another Sundering Teleport I use end up negating the "pulse" effect on Iaijutsu skills and revert Tenka Goken back to its baseline animation instead of the Fenrir-based one, but putting your stuff at higher priority negates the animation change from those TP mods. Is there a way around this without having to turn things on/off depending on what I'm doing?
Thanks for bringing this up! This is caused by a shared file (action.pap) being used. I’ve already figured out a solution, but it might affect the smooth transition of skill animations. I’ll implement it in a future update after further evaluation. Thanks for your patience!
@Bangja0618 Take your time, no need to rush things. Side note, though: there also seems to be some conflict with a particular bit of sfx. The one that gets used for GC actions and a few gatherer/crafter actions gets muted while the main install is on. Hardly the worst problem in the world, obviously, but just for the sake of helping with troubleshooting.
