Aspie Life: #globalgoals and the Anti-Vaccine Story
Переглядів 749 років тому
I'd been planning to take a little more time with this video, but decided to push it forward for the Global Goals. As such I had like 20 minutes to record it so I just thought I'd read off the script I wrote as best I could. Fingers crossed! Inspired in part by Hank Green's video at ua-cam.com/video/VT690t6Ahjs/v-deo.html No conversation starter this time, not that kind of video. Instead, go to...

Sorry it's late, I had a lot of homework last week. Bit of a scatterbrained video, but it's better than nothing. Conversation starter: "What qualities do you look for in a friend?" I'm on Tumblr: gilium.tumblr.com/ I'm on Twitter: IAMGILIUM

Me playing/singing Shake-A-Booty by Hank Green because why not? Original song: ua-cam.com/video/pUITMELOEnI/v-deo.html Yeah, I need a microphone, but I would prioritize actually learning how to play guitar. Convo: "If you had lived during the Gold Rush, would you have journeyed west to strike it rich?" Yeah. I swear I'm not making that one up. I'm on Tumblr: gilium.tumblr.com/ I'm on Twitter: t...

So last week I went to see the movie Southpaw. It played on my mind a bit over the weekend, and I thought I might share my musings over it with the internet. And yes, that means this video's a little more serious again. Leave a comment! Conversation starter: "What animal would you leave off the ark?" Living by Process of Elimination

Fair warning, this is a video does get pretty heavy. Basically this has been on my mind for a LONG time, and it's an approach that I try to take (not always as well as I should, admittedly). Didn't do an amazing job of getting my point across, but I think the gist of it's there. Basically I believe that the simplest way to deal with a huge number of choices in you life is to rule out the ones t...

So I've had a bit of a run of clumsiness in the last week, and I thought I'd see if I could find what some of the causes of it might be. Talkback Radio scares me...

In which I desperately hope that the people who call Australian radio stations are not a good indicator of society at large. I'd like to clarify about the whole prison rehab thing: I think rehabilitation of criminals is very important, but this man was imprisoned in the early 2000s, managing to evade the major terrorist charges laid against him, and all in all still seems to show little or no r...

    Hi -- I've just been denied a diagnosis, because I understand and use metaphors and non-literal language. I can also use sarcasm, even though I need to translate it when it's used on me. I've just found your video while preparing to request a second opinion from the NHS. Anyway, thanks for the video and all the best! :)

    Well, this was...interesting. A fresh take on what could be considered an already battered subject. A well rounded interview. Just something I never expected from you, it kinda creped up on me. (I'm so sorry.) This was great. I laughed a lot and definitely needed it today. 10/10

    The thing that interests me most about this channel (apart from your general relatability) is how you use math to articulate your thoughts as if it were an extension of the language you speak. I really like your videos and I can't wait to see more!

    That little voice comes to me at the worst of times. For instance, yesterday I said "good" instead of "well," and all day today I couldn't focus on anything because the inner voice NEEDS CORRECT GRAMMAR.

  • @Ennaciv

    I started my first year of Marching Band last week, in a school in which I have no real friends. Considering the fact that I suck at small talk, I probably won't be making friends anytime soon. I think my mother wants to get me one of those books. After hearing what you just read, I think I'd rather just be alone!

    • @gilium6919
      @gilium6919 9 років тому

      Victoria Anne It depends. As someone who sucks at small talk myself, I did ask for this book. I went through a phase of not wanting anything to do with anybody, but eventually I got lonely, so when one of my current friends first asked if I wanted to go sit with them (I sat by myself for a while, almost 2 years) I decided to take him up on the offer, but learning people skills is not as simple as that. This book helped, but what was more helpful was that I decided to work at not taking myself too seriously. I've got a few nice memories of sitting around with a few friends and pulling out this book when things got uncomfortably quiet, but it worked that way for me because I always presented it as a silly little game. Nothing breaks down those boundaries quite the same way as mutual laughter does (for complicated reasons involving hormone releases inside the brain). Still, that's just me, and what I decided to try out. Can't claim to be an expert, I was just frustrated with how things were going so I took a different approach.

    • @Ennaciv
      @Ennaciv 9 років тому

      Gilium That's the thing, isn't it? Not wanting anything to do with people and yet resenting the loneliness?

    • @gilium6919
      @gilium6919 9 років тому

      Yeah. In the end, I just kind of reached a point where being lonely was more painful than being social (I'm still not an overly social person but I'm working on it in a few ways).

    Motor mouthing is not funny but the example from friends was humorous. Although I never considered crap a swear/curse word. I considered along the words like darn and heck on how those are words used to substitute swear/curse words but were not as rude. Overall I agree with what you said, witty humor and puns are better.

    • @gilium6919
      @gilium6919 9 років тому

      ThePortal64 Correction: puns are only funny when seen from a first-person perspective. I find few things so painful as being on the receiving end of a pun.

    You've got too much charisma to do these kind of videos. Be more honest with yourself. Look at Veritaserum and VSauce for inspiration. What you are trying to do here is making videos for teens. You can do more than that. Greets

    • @gilium6919
      @gilium6919 9 років тому

      AnotherExperience37 Part of the reason that I'm doing this is that, like I said in the video, it's hard to find resources to help people deal with their own autistic-spectrum conditions. There's a lot of information available to friends/family members, but because it's seen almost as a mental disability (I think) not many people seem to even realise that we can usually help ourselves if we know how. I'm trying to show people that having Asperger's Syndrome doesn't disable me and isn't the only factor in my life that affects things, and yeah I think teens could be most easily convinced of that, but as a teenager it'd be hard to get anybody else to take me seriously for now.
