Переглядів 1,9 тис.4 роки тому
Hey y'all! It is already back to school season! With one year of college under my belt, I thought I would share my advice on what clothing to pack for school, specifically for RIT. Packing for college can be daunting, especially your freshman year. I definitely over packed, but that is just how I am normally. These are the things I wish I had been told to do before my freshman year, so I hope t...

Переглядів 15 тис.4 роки тому
Hey y'all, I finally got time to sit down and share my hearing loss story! Being hard-of-hearing is something I have grown to embrace and have pride in, but it was not an easy road here. Going to RIT has helped so much because I am surrounded by deaf and hard-of-hearing students all the time. I hope y'all enjoy. Let me know in the comments if you are deaf or hard of hearing! xx Emma Instagram -...
WHY I CHOSE RIT
Переглядів 6 тис.4 роки тому
Hey y'all, with the COVID-19 preventing high school students from visiting schools, I thought I would sit down and talk about what made me choose RIT. I know choosing which school to attend is a HUGE decision, and COVID-19 must only add to that stress. There aren't many videos out there on YT about RIT, so I hope this helps some of you in your decisions! Feel free to reach out with any question...

Recruitment was a BLAST this year, and I thought I would document the process! Rush at RIT is so different than any other school that I know of, so I figured I would share for anyone thinking of rushing here. This style of recruitment is only for the spring. Fall recruitment is much different. Each sorority does different themes and, but this is the general set up! Hope y’all enjoy! xx Emma Ins...

Such a helpful video! I'll be a freshman at RIT this year and super excited!
Is it worth to do masters in germany.. Ms
Thank you! I needed this encouragement and so do many young people with hearing loss! Your positive attitude is just wonderful!
Just had my 3 surgery on my left ear from cholestatoma removed mine ate all my bones and was at the wall of my skull when I had my first surgery, then my secondary was to remove the package placed in there after my 1 st operation. Now i just had my latest to fit my bone conduction hearing aid magnet to finally put my bone conduction hearing aid.
😍😍😍
I'm a recently admitted student and I'm trying to find videos about being a freshman at RIT and this video was so nice, thank you for making it, I hope your semester is going well!!
I got my ct scan coming up and just had a mould taken. I had what looks like a cancerous growth in my ear canal post nasal. Anyway I got 35% hearing left in my right ear also X-)
I am hard of hearing but it’s my brain not my ears my ears function great but my brain can’t filter out sound so everything meshes together so I hear distortion I’m extremely sensitive to loud noises but I have hearing aids and I’ve kind of always known I have a hearing issue but not the traditional kind it’s apd auditory processing disorder it’s pretty rare
I have a mild to moderate ssnhl since i was about 8, due to constant ear infections but then when i was 10, my brother perorated my eardrum by accident and it ended up causing an additional conductive hearing loss.. but we had to wait to close it up because it was at risk of getting infected.. I am now 21. So about a year ago I saw a new ENT and had the tympanoplasty done… I totally feel you on getting ear surgery,.. its not fun, but it was reaalllyyy worth it on my case
Im 18 now , but I got diagnosed with Cholesteatoma on both ears in 2019 . We were searching for an answer for almost 3 years !!! And now after years and years of having problems with my hearing , I finally got a hearing aid , I’m so freaking thankful for being able to enjoy hearing more !🥰
From india, lots of love and power to you.. I'm suffering from SNHL from my 20s
Dii 😢 same love from India suffering from snhl

Hello I am going yo RIT in the fall and I know why I choose RIT. I just wanted to see why someone else choose RIT
Thanks for sharing! So good to see people making videos about their experience being an HoH individual. Maybe I'll make my own video and post it to youtube! Great to see your positive personality, and happy to hear that your hearing loss helped you get into school. Best of luck! :)
Hello! This may be late but how are the bathrooms? Are they clean? Thanks!
how is the vibe in Ellingson? is it chill? a collaborative and studious environment ?
My cousin Callie graduated from RIT after playing softball and volleyball and majored in mechanical engineering she loved it there
The docs did a great job with the scar placement. If you are not looking for it, you would never notice it.
hi im A HARD OF HEARING ALSO FROM PHILIPPINES
you can decorate it all you want and rearrange it all you want...its STILL a F'n Dorm
I am planning to join there, i need some help.please help me out
Applying for this jan 2022
Hi
Thank you for sharing your experience. I had a cholesteatoma twice and now severe to profoundly deaf on my left ear. I’ve worn hearing aids on and off for years but hate them (infections, discomfort, sound quality isn’t great etc.) I am on a waiting list to get a Bonebridge from med-el (bone conduction hearing implant). What kind of hearing aid do you have?
Hi Emma! If you’re still looking to fill some of that free time I’d love to know more about on-campus employment opportunities. Maybe that could be a video :)
Did you go to Ecuador?
What was the typical furnature arrangement for the middle suite room for Ellingson?
This was super helpful as an incoming freshman!
I was NTID supported student to attend RIT classes where I can get interpreters and notetakers. That was a great service for the Deaf students who attended RIT. I am Deaf. Emma, you made the right choice. I wish you the best in your studies at RIT.
hi im maggie and my best friend is a youtuber what’s your flex
she’s back :) <3
Hi! I am coming to RIT this fall and was wondering, does your roommate move in the same day or time as you? I know with covid it’s probably different but how did it work for you?
I cracked up at the "bricky" part 😂
I might be going to RIT, but I will have to find out about Binghamton University & New York University's waitlist result.
I thought you were deaf. How are you talking and not doing sign language if you lost your hearing?
Hey Mikey! So I may not be Emma, but am hard of hearing myself. The reason someone might talk instead of sign despite having a hearing loss is because they weren't exposed to asl, bsl, etc. growing up, or simply don't wish to. Hard of hearing folks are on this pretty wide spectrum. You can have a profound hearing loss, or a slight hearing loss. If your hearing loss is slight at first, you'd be "like any other kid" in the sense that you're taught something like English as a first language. You can still have functional hearing if you're hard of hearing, it's just not at 100%. Even if someone is D/deaf they can still talk the same as a hearing person too. Hearing ability doesn't change the way your vocal cords work. If you or someone else have more questions, feel free to ask!
@@carinachavez1943 Ohhhh I see. Thank you.
You can still talk with hearing loss even some people who are deaf learn how to speak watch rikki pointer on UA-cam she’s deaf but she can speak
Where did you get the tall organizer by the window with your kitchen stuff in it? Super cute room.
I got it from goodbye goodbuy which is a yard sale at RIT
Where’s the beer? When I was at RIT we had beer parties all the time!
When I went to RIT I was in quarter system and RIT just had the basements but after two years I went to Colony Manor apartments! After graduating in ‘92 I went into the Army!
I’m so happy I came across your video! I’m currently going through the same thing and I am trying to figure out what is really going on. I hope all is good!
I’m going to RIT in the fall and this was so helpful on getting a better idea of the size of the dorm. Thank you so much!!!
Please make a video on your sorority and others too♥️♥️
Hey I applied a few months I'm just waiting to hear back. Can you tell me about what you or your friend's high school GPA's were like? I just wanna know what my chances are of getting in.
Hi, I applied a few months back as well and i got the acceptance just a few weeks back. If you applied for regular decision as I did, you might get in a few days/weeks. My high-school GPA was around 3.4 or smtng, but I had extra curricular as well, so that helped. But overall, if you have a decent score in highschool, a decent extra curricular (or none also), and a good essay, youll get in. Dont worry, RIT gives acceptances to many and hopefully youll get it soon, dont stress about it. If its getting delayed, just email your admission counsellor. Goodluck! Hope you get in!
@@sahildayal3024 thank you so much that’s great to hear you got in! I think I applied with a 3.4 and I have a lot of extra curriculars. I’m still waiting but I’m sure I’ll hear back in March
@@samanthaboreland8866 You got it dude! With the extra curricular you might just get a good scholarship as well! Good luck my dood!
@@samanthaboreland8866 Hiya! I just got accepted with a founders scholarship. I had a 3.1 GPA BUT I had a lot of extra curriculars to balance that out. I think my essays were pretty decent but it’s definitely all my performing arts stuff that got me the acceptance and 12,500 a year scholarship. If you’re worried your GPA is too low I think you’ll be fine if you’ve contributed to your community in an impactful way, or you have some thing that really makes you stick out. I had terrible grades, but I did enough community out reach and mentoring and things like that to balance it out. Hope you get in :)
@@_Charles_LeClerc_ thank you so much! I definitely have enough extra curriculars
Just graduated from UB. Looking to go to RIT for ultrasound but their tuition is scaring me (I currently don’t have any loans... which is why I’m scared)
Apply and see what they give you for aid! I was scared of the price too but I ended up only paying about $5k a semester out of pocket which is less expensive then most SUNYS
I am a hard hearing too..great story of yours! lovelots from Philippines
So helpful and you’re so sweet! Laughed at the bricks part cuz the campus sure ain’t the cutest i’ve seen. Thank you so much girl❤️
I am also hard of hearing.
I’m planning to attend RIT in the fall, what type of room do you have where you have the bathroom attached and you have a roommate? I’m very confused on housing options haha
Are you still going to RIT this fall?
Hi, I’m a Sophomore in hs and looking to go to RIT, I am hard of hearing and have been using hearing aids since I was little and was wondering if you knew more information on the hearing aid repair and opportunities
