Actually this problem can be extended to any audiance. I read bl and also straight comics and I see the same kind of trope. Unfortunatly maggiority of bl have in commons grape and assault. But this cannot be extended to all the story and I can list many. I find it wrong to say that people who read bl fetish gay man. 😅

I love good wlw or mlm, just romance or with smexy scenes. And also I won't complain about complicated/toxic relationships if they are shown as such. I recently experienced this a lot by joining an anime community, every one there had yuri on ice, heavens official blessing and many many bl anime as their favorite. BUT THE BLATANTLY homophobia in that server! I literally got kicked out because everyone was demonizing irl gay people and i say "nothing wrong with being gay" and got kicked out. I never experienced this blatant homophobia.....

It's gotten to the point where it's getting harder to find queer content and queer spaces/fandoms that are actually MADE for queer people. It's almost always has some weird fetishist stuff going on, which is unfortunate.

I wouldn’t even take a glance of a story with that kind of artstyle, and character. You’re underestimating BL genre too much. Like every other genre, BL has its golds and trashes. It’s equivalent to read some trashy unpopular action manhwa and assume Actions are all this shitty. -and us readers, hate rapes. Indeed there are many bl stories involves rapes-but that’s because most bl stories you’ll see are full of angsts. Us, readers are definitely not fine with rapes, and we frequently discuss with each other about the morality and ethnicity in the comment section of the certain stories. Only small percentages will comment such stuffs you have shown in the video. And about “stereotypes”…there are no stereotypes in BL fandom, and we don’t spread such things. The strong and big seme and sofite uke is just a one type. We don’t even enjoys it.--there was a big quarrel regarding this “tradional yaoi dynamic”-in truth, everyone despised how small, weak and submissive the uke was in the story.-we read this kinds without any seriousness, just to expand our bl knowledges. And to badmouth. There are many bl stories involving a bigger seme and smaller uke, but without a big significance height difference. And about the personalities of the characters--miss. Every couples in bl fandom has their own dynamics. We are super diverse in terms of dynamics and characters. Small seme x big uke Crybaby/softie seme x badass uke Police x criminal Stalker x serial killer Assassin x celebrity King x minister and blah2 The seme and uke stuffs are not fixed. The reason behind why most seme s are seemingly taller is because it’s norm-but their personalities are diverse-bigger doesn’t indicate dominance. And if you digged deeper, masculine males romances are tend to be the preferable for most audiences. For example: “under the green light” “liveta” And to dig deeper into stereotypes regarding seme and uke…bruh. There are number of switch/seke couples in this genre. In seemingly typical top and bottom dynamic bl manhwa, you’ll find one of them used to be verse and stuff. Most authors simply prefers to let the characters stay in one position. You also will likely to see norm top and bottom position-seme and uke position in mangas and manhwas made by men, the same. In real life too, gay men have their preferences- to bottom or top. Around 50percent of bl fans are straight or mostly bisexual females, and the rest 50 percents are lesbians, non binaries, straight, bi and gay men who enjoys bl-approximately. from my experience of being an active in a bl fandom for 4-5 years. And not all gay men hate bl and yaois(yaoi can have more bad reputation) --bl, aka, Boys love- generally indicates a gay relationship. ^^Yaoi-involves any sexual themes, ^^shounen ai-non sexual/pure romance. ^^Bara-root of yaoi, usually shows two bulky men. (popular among real life gay readers-and majority written by men-there are number of female bara writers) About fetishizing gays, most of us don’t. Many straight romances are similar with gay romances(gay also involves our beloved lesbians) -there’s a saying “if straights deserves cliche and cheesy romances, so does the gays”. And let’s say a gay person likes to read straight stories with all the romance and fruity sus moments, does that make him/her fetishizer??? Why’d you interpret it like that? About why many females read BL, everyone has their own interpretation. Some says they like pretty boys flirts and do nasty with each other-(is a simple excuse to read bl. There are numerous of bls doesn’t involve any sexual activity and are just both avarage males-(in some cases, ugly) and some likes it because there’s no female-therefore they can judge the characters actions without bias and stuff, less to no self insert, and no gender issue and roles in relationship--relationship dynamics are more flexible, and are not fixed like most straight romances. Although I found a few reasons like these, in truth, they’re not strong reasons. We just feel like reading it, it’s just refreshing and beautiful. If you dig deep into this question, it becomes philosophical question. Lol. We simply don’t know. And for your information, male bl fans and authors are just silent. They feel pressured because of their interest, and choose to not speak out about them being male-therefore, people tend to assume they’re females. According to one BL manga editor there are plenty of male bl manga authors that you can’t tell they’re male from their manga at all, and the editor was tight lips about who they are. --it’s pretty popular among authors to hide behind a different gender to not get criticized, many female shounen/seinen authors feel the need to hide behind male pseudonym. If you think it’s possible to guess the bl authors genders because male and female authors should be writing different stuffs-lmao no. “Here U are” by DJun. / Well made cute story about university students. Some people just dont notice non con in webcomics one time i read a webcomic and there was a scene where somone forces themself on the mc and the comments are either "YES SMUT!!!" Or "yall that obv non con😭😭" the majority being the first and this happens in most stories regardless of the shipped characters gender but female on male is the most noticed the other two types are modtly just not noticed or fetishized

I was always confused about how some teen girls would always watch Yaoi/ mlm comics and talk about it in obsessive manners, as it always creeped me out. I'm a teen bi woman and I would get so uncomfortable if anyone tried to fetishize a wlw relationship if I ever got into one and I can't see why people can't see that with mlm relationships too. It's not some type of entertainment and it's not some show you get to clap your hands to. They are people and their relationships shouldn't be fetishized but respected. I’m not gay or anything but I just wanted to check if I was the only one seeing this problem. It’s so fricken annoying. I’m always up for a good romance, idc if it’s female x female or male x male. I like romance and action that’s that. But it’s incredibly hard to find a good romance with the lgbtq+ community. So I do stick with the typical romance but even those are generic and fall victim to plenty of tropes. It’s very rare to find good romance comics. Aside from romance though I love action, but I just wish I could sit down for a good romantic read.

I am a minor and have a friend that one or two years ago was obsessed, in sickly way, with m|m relationships. It got so bad that she’d literally show me and other friends explicit NSFW fanart about ONLY male relationships without our consent, with her ignoring us when we refused to see that sort of thing and still putting it in our face anyways. The problem with this girl is that there is just no way to get through her, I’m embarrassed to confess that just a few months ago I saw her completely melt down because her mother simply tried to explain a fact to her while she just said it was ‘her opinion and that we had to respect it’ when it wasn’t about opinions, it was about right and wrong. (Ex: 2+2=4 but she says it’s 5 and we have to respect it because it’s her ‘opinion’). I am still incredibly shocked as of how with her years of age she is so trapped in her own little world and if you ever try convincing her of absolutely anything she’ll just get mad and push you out, making herself the victim. Her obsession with this is basically sickly, even now that it’s toned down, she still agrees with her old beliefs as in such that rape is okay if it’s a m|m situation, a minor as young as 11 with a man over 50 having NSFW relationships is okay, etc. At this point it is just plain gross. I am aware I should not apologise for my friend’s actions or beliefs but I feel so incredibly guilty. I am so, so sorry for any people in general from the LGBTQ+, I am so, so sorry even though I am pretty sure I’m from the community as well (I don’t want to make official assumptions yet as I am still a teen and know my thoughts and way of being will very much change as the years go by) but yeah, I am so incredibly sorry and I hope you don’t meet anyone with an unhealthy obsession to this point in your lifetimes.
