    i have 2l k20z2 i have same noise i did valve adjustment few days ago it got little better but its still there i thinks its pistonskirt noise because these have short skirt and its much louder when cold. All the best hope you find it!

    Depending on the year try getting a code reader if you have a check engine light. It sounds like its revving high too did you just start it or is the engine warm

    • @lunchonthehood5675
      @lunchonthehood5675 3 місяці тому

      Engine is warm in this video, although it’s much louder when cold. There is no check engine light, it has a smooth idle, and the sound goes away after revving it above 1.5-2k rpm’s or so. Power feels fine and vtec kicks in.

  • @lunchonthehood5675
    @lunchonthehood5675 3 місяці тому

    When cold it’s much louder and follows RPM, and car feels slightly sluggish - when warmed up it’s only faintly heard at idle and goes away over 2k rpm’s and power feels good. No CEL, runs great otherwise. Timing belt and tensioner already replaced with OEM parts.

    Was this a daily? I've struck a liking towards them but where I am currently they're in the same price range as something like a Mk2 S13 or a Evo 6/7 so I've fallen into a bit of a conundrum trying to figure out whether I want a more common faster platform or an older cooler and lighter platform. Curious what your experience with the car was like

    • @lunchonthehood5675
      @lunchonthehood5675 Рік тому

      It was my weekend car while my 94’ corolla was my daily. Evo and s13 are great cars too, but the first generation mr2 is pure magic, nothing compares to it. If you can find one rust free and well maintained go for it! For a daily, it can be done although it is almost 40 years old and parts are hard to find. The turn in, the handling, the sound, the driver position is jet fighter in the mr2.

    • @lunchonthehood5675
      @lunchonthehood5675 2 роки тому

      Good ear. It wasn’t actually. It was a 2.5” custom exhaust with a resonator delete, flow master cat, and a magnaflow muffler. It was absolutely perfect and had a little rumble to it vs like a droney 4 cylinder sound and wasn’t too loud at all. I sold this car regrettably. But I have tons of videos of it still with the setup I had that I have to release.

    Bring back memories seeing this. My dad had a 7th gen Corolla like that, also was a 5 speed. Ended up being handed down to me after he passed. By the time I got it, it had sat for so long that it needed too much work to be worth fixing. Was a fun little yard beater for a while. I ended up buying a 1999 5 speed corolla later on.

    Looks like Toyota really want to show the airbag when they designed this XD I think the 1.8 is nice mated with this gen. In my country, we got only 1.6 4A-FE and 1.3 2E. Luckily Toyota replaced it with 7A-FE when they launched AE112, and made 2 airbags plus ABS standard in the range topper SE-G.
