Fishing in Loreto for Yellowtail

Loreto is known for their amazing landscapes and marine life. We join the crew of Baja Mia for an epic trip. We even caught and released a baby Hammerhead shark. Jacques Cousteau, called the Gulf of California, also known as the Sea of Cortez, "the world's aquarium" because of its great diversity. It's evident by the different marine life we encountered on this trip. The food in Loreto was also...

How much overhang do you have past the end of the bed?
About 6” overhang from the trunk
Thanks for the demo! I am currently getting Seakeeper Ride installed on my 23' Grady. Can't wait to try it out!
It’s going to feel like a different boat. I can’t imagine riding without it now. You won’t feel beat up after a day on the water.
Which GoPro is it? I have GoPro 11 and cant record without battery in.
9&10. The forums state that the it should be the same. “You just need a power bank that has a 5V 2.4A output per port (as opposed to the same output spread across many ports). Or you can just use the GoPro Volta which is a combination selfie stick, with built in remote and built in power bank.”
@@CurrentJAM I made a trick. Just turn on gopro and than remove the battery. It works. The last problem i have is overheating my gopro 11 while im recording on 4k 60fps.
Gonna get this asap hope it help with bird nest cuz I suck at casting with a conventional free spool .
Haha. It will help for sure. Such a sweet reel.
What size is that one
This is the 150. We were fishing up to 200 feet. This drops fairly quickly.
Fishing is great in Loreto, but what makes it greater is a great beach house to stay in as our corner house! Come take a look at our beautiful corner house ua-cam.com/video/wXCK5lSm_pc/v-deo.html
Looks amazing!
What size?
This is the 150. We were fishing between 150-200 feet.
Liar
I wish It was a lie. I would love to get paid to fish and review products.
Uh …a diamond jig is cheaper …more durable and just as or more effective
This could be said about so many lures, it all really comes down to how you like to fish them. This lure was very versatile, we caught Speed Jigging, Slow Pitching, Trolling and even dead sticking. We had a blast fishing these and we look forward to catching more with them.
You are literally a business with an advertisement…..so…..uh…..
I bet if you made a top water bass lure out of fisher-price people you could catch fish
@@CurrentJAMwhile you are having a blast I’m winning the tournament with a 2 oz Crippled Herring or a 2 oz Popeye jig in white
@@peterlorenzo615that’s awesome! Congratulations on the win.
Nice yellow tail
Thanks Brian! They couldn’t get enough of the Squidtrex.
Finally ....I got mine just a little over a month ago I LOVE it I had the 400 back in 2015 caught yellows alost getting spoiled but Finally they got the 500 I like how it lays low on my jigstick and light A.F🤘🤘🤘🎣🎣🎏🎏🎏✨️✨️✨️
Hell yeah! It’s going to be an amazing season with this in the toolbox. Makes it that much more enjoyable.
What rod is he using holy hell that’s a best!
It's a blast! The rod is the G-Series Slow Stroke Jigging Rod from Mustad.
A simple Penn Powerstick is a REALLY nice rod
Just got back
How was it??
Amazing. Went by myself. Brought my Lexas down and came home with trophy yellows and Cabrilla.
How does it perform at slow speed?
Really start to notice it at 10 MPH and above. Truly couldn’t be happier with this product. If I had a bigger boat I would also consider the gyro.
Vengan pronto que habrá un torneo de dorado y van a poder sacar unas grandes ejemplares. El año pasado hubo unos de 50 libras.
Gracias por la información, parece un momento increíble.
Wow! What a fun trip! I’m surprised you don’t have more subscribers. Awesome content. New subscriber here 👋
Thanks for the kind words! This trip was amazing. Good fishing, great food and fun company. I’ll be going back for some rooster fishing soon. So looking forward to it.
For $10k I’ll just buy a bigger boat
Aye, I wish 10k could translate to a bigger boat mate. Plus a bigger boat would still benefit from this device. Automatic trim tabs makes a huge difference.
How much $$$?
1. Ride 450 system $4500 2. MFD display cable $125 3. Adhesive and supplies for installation $800 4. Shipping the unit $300 5. Haul out if needed $330 6. Labor for install $3960 7. Tax on materials $420.43 Estimated total $10,435.43
Great video, did I miss you say how long the boat is?
It’s a 20 foot dauntless 200
I am headed there in June, who did you use as a guide? We are looking for one.
Baja Mia ( bajamia.com.mx )The owner, Pancho, is amazing and can help with all accommodations. Make sure to also bring some fish to LOS OLIVOS RESTAURANT located inside La Mision hotel. Chef Fatima is a culinary genius and will prepare you a feast to remember.
I was going to get the PA-12' love that boat and the blue and new orange camo is my Fav. But I also loved the AP-120, with spot lock. I had already purchased my new PP-767 J2 Bixpy. So I run the Bixpy, and then my Minnkota when I fish. It's awesome to have that spot lock on a craft you trust. Sweet set-up bro!! 😎 💯 🛶
Good choice! I was afraid of getting stuck up the creek with a paddle, so to speak, if my motor died so went with the peddle drive as a back up. How do you like the Bixpy? - I Agee the spot lock is a game changer.
@@CurrentJAM The Bixpy is awesome, and it's just one power wire. I purchased it because, if my Minnkota dies, or I have any issue connection on either. I'll always have power, to get back home. I've always run a Bixpy, with my fin drive. 😎
Awesome
do you have any issues with your xi3 and do you still use it today? I'm in the market for one and can't decide between xi3 or one of minn kota gps shortest shaft version. any insight from you would be great.
I haven’t experienced any issues with the Xi3. I have a minn kota on my boat and the spot lock feature struggles to keep position from my experience. That’s not to say that the kayak version wouldn’t have an easier time with a smaller vessel. Minn Kota is overall ranked better than the Motorguide from the experts so it comes down to budget vs some extra features. www.trollingmotors.net/blogs/selection/86961159-minn-kota-vs-motorguide

I answered in your other comment. Let me know which one you choose. Can’t go wrong with either option. They are both great.
what model is your lowrance ? n does it matter what model you get for the spot lock?>
The model in the video is an XI3 that was cut down to size as they didn’t have a saltwater kayak version available at that time. There is a newer kayak version XI3 SALTWATER 55LB 36" WITH PINPOINT GPS. Pinpoint GPS is required to use the anchor feature.
How long can you run the trolling Motor on full battery?
I have dual FPV-Power 50Ah batteries connected to the trolling motor and I can use it all day - I have yet to drain it in a full day of fishing.
Hey man Welcome back brother good to see you back on UA-cam!!! Just starting following you on the IG. Those spoons are absolutely deadly I caught my last Striper of the season 2 weeks ago a nice 37 incher! Tight lines 🤙🏽👍🏽
Saw your post nice Bass man! These spoons are so much fun to fish. Crazy they hit such a big piece of metal, whomever said these bass see hardware has never fished an 8” spoon.
That isnt snap jigging…
Okay, thanks!
nice man, was hoping to see some West Coast fishing vids from ya! I never seen trolling the bonito trick before, that was a really cool idea
Thanks man! Yeah, that was the first for me also. The weather has been tough here for my small boat, planning to get some fishing in soon as the fall seas tends to be more forgiving. Seen you’ve been getting some good action in the bay!
How is this holding up? Has the plastic cracked in the bow yet?
So far so good, no cracking or wear visible yet.
haha I remember this day, was like why the heck is that kayaker out there in the middle of winter doing donuts...did you end up selling this setup? hope all is well my friend. I'm tempted to try and install this in the stern of a kayak...
Haha!! You should do it! The anchor feature is the big seller for me
You still using the FPV 50ah battery? You find that is enough to last all day? You use separate battery for the electronics?
I use dual 50Ah batteries for the trolling motor, they last all day. I use a 10Ah battery for my fish finder.
Nice looking fish right there.
Thanks! She sure was a beauty; couldn’t resist that eel candy.
Slow pitch is better
They both have their place. Slow pitch is less taxing on the angler, that’s for sure. We use a slow pitch variation when using large spoons 🥄
Glad to see you back, can’t wait for more content!
In California at the moment, looking forward to tuna, yellowtail and rockfish

Bro stole them magic erasers
True! Same material, but it is beefier. The magic eraser breaks down faster.
I used a boat eraser out at sea, now I'm stuck.
You scrubbed too hard! :p
Thats is just a rebranded magic eraser
Totally, but it does have a sponge in the center. Regardless, I was amazed on how it cleaned and didn’t leave a super dry feeling - it also didn’t breakdown as easily as a magic eraser.
What leader is attached to the 10 pound braid?
25-40 lb fluorocarbon. Depends on the structure I’m fishing.
Is that what he uses on the snap jig rig?
OK one year later, how is it? does the extra weight affect the ride ? By the way my Wife is perfect , so she says
She handles the weight really well. No complaints 🎉
Roofnest Condor XL ?
Sure is! We love it. It fits my family of 5
Great video, thank you. Curious if you have a center mounted transducer? If so does the bow mount trolling motor cause issues with a center mounted transducer since it will be subject to the transducer to water turbulence?
Great question! I do utilize the center transducer mount that comes with the Hobie PA. I have not noticed any image artifacts or noise due to the water turbulence. Even at top speed. Hope this helps.
Sounds like snagged fishing
The interesting part is that I’ve never seen or experienced an issue with snagging a fish while snap jigging. I’m sure there’s a potential for it, but I’ve never seen it.
Have you tested this set up in choppy/windy conditions? I have a pa14 and frequently fish in 1-2 ft chop. I'm very interested in buying one of these but I'm worried that the weight on the bow would make for a very wet ride.
It could be a wet ride in chop even without it, at least from my experience, the bow digs into waves. 1-2 ft chop shouldn’t effect the prop but would really depend on the frequency of the waves. 1-2 ft chop at 12+S np, 1-2ft at 3-5s might be an issue - with the prop getting a lot of air time
I wish the remote was like the minn kota.
I have both at the moment. My boat came with an MK. What in particular do you like about the MK remote?
Cant i reqest to you a jeging rod, pls
Any 6.5 - 7.5 foot Medium light to M power - Medium action would work. The Tsunami Carbon Shield II has been my favorite rod so far.
I hope read this coment for you, i belive on you, ilike you to be a duo for us in the phelepines
If I’m ever in the Philippines I’ll look you up. That would be amazing.
Awesome kayak setup!
Thanks 🙏 I’m in SD for a while, looking to get it out in the water soon.
How do you even get eels?
We get them from our local bait stores. Call up the ones around you and see if and when they will have live eels. I’ve heard of ppl harvesting eels in shallow pools of water, under rocks, but I haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing that.
@@CurrentJAM I live in Ohio but there is a spot on the Ohio that’s full of Muskie and stripers
What model is that and what rack do you use? Thanks!
Roofnest Condor XL on top of the JCR Roof rack on the bed of a Jepp Gladiator 2020 Rubicon.
