Is this heavy after it dries? I am trying to make branches for a theater production that people will need to hold/fake attack another actor and wondered if the plaster would make it too hard. I wonder if I can just stop at the masking tape and paint it from there.
Hello teacher. Thank you for the great video. I wonder what you did at 39 seconds that made it hard~? I'm curious!
Finally someone talks about being able to add tines
Chip is an amazing man. Was so glad I chose his taxidermy institute. Could not have asked for a better instructor!
Hello, what kind of paint did you use to darken the points up. Cheers
We airbrushed the antlers with flat black acrylic paint to darken the points. Hope this helps.
Where are the artificial leaves from? Do you sell them?
Hello! Thank you for your interest in our products. Currently, we do not sell artificial leaves.
Would have loved to have scene hiw to attach the grasses. That was the reason I watched this video mainly.
Thank you for comment, and our apologies for the delayed response. We have passed this comment along to our management team. To attach grasses like in the video, first drill tiny holes in the base using a small drill bit. Then stick the grasses into the holes and glue with Fiber-Tac. I hope this helps answer your question.
Also, you can use hot glue to attach the grasses, as well. You can then also use Fiber-Tac around the base of attached grasses and sprinkle our Soil Base over it to make it look like more realistic and seamless with the ground.

If you're not happy with the results when you're finished can the fibers be taken off so you can reapply?
Hello! Thank you for your interest in our products! We recommend soaking them in warm water. This helps remove the velvet easier for them to be reapplied.
Thanks for another great tip!
Thanks for the informative video. It gave me some ideas for sure.
It isn't a HUGE show but what about coming to the South Carolina Association of Taxidermist show on 15 - 17 June 2023? I'm pretty sure the members would love have a seminar with your system. I have quite a bit of your products but to see it all in action first hand vs. a video would be amazing.
Hello Victor! Unfortunately, we have already made our show schedule for the 2023 year. However, we want to make to as many shows as possible in the future! Please keep checking back to find out what shows we will be at next! Thank you for your interest in our products.
@@ModelSceneryExpert Thanks for the reply. It would have been great to get some hands. Being a high school teacher it's only possible for me to attend summer seminars and within a few hundred miles of my home in East Tennessee.
Love your videos
Thank you so much for this feedback!!
How are bear mounts attached to wall?
Hello there! Thank you for the comment. We are deeply sorry for the delayed response. Our team will need additional information to further assist you. Can you tell us a little more about your current taxidermy habitat project or vision? Feel free to message us at scenesnnature@marketing.com
You two are awesome
Hey, thanks! :) We have fun making custom habitats!
Thanks for doing these instructional videos. Love them! Keep them coming!
amazing video going to order everything to try it
Another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
How does the plaster not crack?
I got a bird on ebay and im planning on making a base for it. Thanks for the video!
Hi, this give me an idea of what I want to do. I just have a doubt… after letting it dry, can it be placed in a humid environment (or be in contact with water) or will it loose its consistency?
What did you end up doing? Great to hear people creating
Another awesome tutorial! Thanks!
Which two part epoxy do you recommend to round off the tips?
Hi Jake! Thank you for reaching out to us. We recommend either Apoxie Sculpt or Magic Sculpt. Any color will be okay as you will paint the tips with Velvet Base before applying Velvet Fiber.
I wanna know how to add artificial plants to my deer mount habitat. I'm on a budget, do yall have a video?
Hi Kelly! We apologize for our delayed response. However, we do have some information for you. To add artificial plants, poke or drill a hole in the habitat shell. Apply a generous amount of hot glue on the base of the plant and insert it into the hole. Finish by applying a little more hot glue along the seam between the plant and the habitat and sprinkling one of our Soil Bases over the glue. The Soil Base will make the plant appear to be growing from the habitat, and cover up the seam/glue. When the hot glue is dry, you can use Habitat Adhesive to add more Soil Base, if needed. We currently do not have a specific video that shows this exact process, but we hope this information helped.
What is name of that paper?
Hi Namir! My apologies for the delayed response. It is Contour Sheet™. Find out more at our website: scenesnnature.com/show/category/Taxidermy-Habitat-Base.
Looks like a dead-head. If so, cool find. If if not, cool anyway!!😁
Great video excellent products
Thank you Buddy!
I used your products on a mount I did back in the 80's .. from your parent company "Woodland Scenics". I used some medium green ground foam climbing up a stump to replicate moss growing. I used your Talus as lightweight rocks in the soil (re-dried coffee grounds). These products are not lost to a Taxidermist who also enjoys Model Railroading! ;)
Just completed order from NTA show. Can’t wait to put use!!
That's awesome! Thanks so much, and please share pictures of your finished projects with us!
Great video and product’s
Thank you!
This is exactly what I was looking for to build a forest diorama! Thanks! Edit: I'm trying to find the products you used and when you gesture to the carton I think you call it "contour sheet plaster," but I'm not sure because I cant find it. What exactly is it?
Would this be strong enough to hold a live chameleon? Im looking to make some branches that she can actually use. The store bought ones are too small for her enclosure and found ones present the risk of parasites and bacteria that could kill her.
Thanks for reaching out to us and your interest in our products. We are not as concerned about the strength of the materials (Plaster Cloth coated with Shaper Sheet® Plaster makes a firm, hard shell), but more about whether or not the materials are a suitable habitat for a chameleon. As we have not tested these materials in the manner you describe, we cannot provide guidance on whether or not they are a suitable habitat for a live chameleon.
Habitat FX series by Smooth On might work, it seems to be designed for aquatic and zoo habitats : ua-cam.com/video/Tw8h4P80UT4/v-deo.html
How much was the kit? I can't find it on Amazon or ebay.
Hi Patrick! The Whitetail Velvet Kit is $9.99, which includes the 2 different colored fibers. However, you can find everything you need to replicate deer antler velvet as seen in this video at our website: scenesnnature.com/show/category/Antler-Velvet-Taxidermy-Fiber.
162$
I really like it. Also check out Woodglut and plans.
I find your products a little expensive, especially the tin foil. I would have a little more confidence in your products if the taxidermy mounts in your catalog looked good, but except for the Arctic Fox,and maybe the deer head, the mounts just look real bad.
What an awesome product, I'm excited to use it!
Chip is my spirit animal

Could the plaster cloth be used to build broken deer antlers
Hi Jason! So we can best answer your question, could you please tell us if you are wanting to create a tip of the deer antlers or a larger portion of the rack? Also, are you wanting to use just Plaster Cloth?
@@scenes-n-nature4669 i got a rack that has the last 4 inches of the main beam broke. Could i use a peice of wire and the plaster cloth to build that last 4 inches?
@@jasonpine2061 Hi Jason! We appreciate the additional information and your patience in our response. We do not recommend using Plaster Cloth and wire to rebuild a broken main beam on antlers. Plaster Cloth is not an ideal material for weight-bearing applications like re-building the main beam on an antler would require. Please let us know if you have any additional questions and for your interest in our products.
Great video
We are glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
Recommended to wear a mask while doing this?
It's not necessary but you can.
I like that your videos are short and to the point! I will definitely be ordering some items this next week. Thanks for the post!
