I have researched Lizzie Borden and your presentation is by far the best I have ever seen. The comparison of the landmarks then and now is remarkable. It really makes the story come alive. I appreciate all the time and effort this must have taken to put together. Very well done! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Very informative! Great job.
This was a great history. I appreciate all the research you did and the pictures really bring that era to life. I have watched a lot of videos on Lizzie Borden and this was by far one of the best ones I have seen. Thank you! I appreciate all your hard work!
Good videos !
Are you familiar with the cave in newbedford/freetown seems largely lost to time. It's right by a highway to
Enjoyed history and academic detail. I suggest that king Philip had major impact in pre-Revolutionary war around NYC. King Philip performance as pathetic as saying ”next slide”. You need to verbalize that as academic?
John Pynchon was my ancestor as well as Captain Joseph Sheldon. Later he was a leader at the Battle of Turner Falls.
Dave! This was incredible! We need more sir.

My husband and I bought our home in Assonet, MA., and were there 33 years, till we moved to Seekonk, MA. Assonet was means Place of Prayer is what I believe the Indians named it. But the history of New England I find absolutely fascinating. Great video and comments. Thank you.
The Wampanoag People had every right to defend their lands. Nowadays the Wampanoags and Howlands descendants are at peace.
As a descendant and a former Tour guide, The Rocky Nook house is ineccessible now, it's on kind of a peninsula. The Jabez Howland House in Plymouth center is only open in Summer.
I'm very interested in King Philips wife. Who was she? My family comes from NS and we have native genes..don't know where they come from.
I have studied the Lizzie Borden case and read numerous books. You have informaioion I have never heard before. I found your video and research very informative and interesting . Thank you
Great History lesson! This war, interrupted Worcester's first attempt at a settlement which was called "Quinsigamond" (Quin-sik-amond) or "Long Pond".
Great video! I grew up just two blocks from King Philip's Stockade in Longmeadow. Its great to learn more about the history of the Pioneer Valley
They are my ancestors, too. I have several direct ancestors on the Mayflower. You get 4 with just these 2.
0:43 Edward Bobetis my 9x great grandfather. I still live in the property which he purchased in 1652. Story I’ve read said that a Wampanoag man was in Taunton a few days later, bragging about his kill and Edward (his eldest son) “later took revenge” and killed the man.
Why was it a "horrible act" to burn the Wamponogian huts after their warriors had already attacked and burned many more colonialists' homes? Who started the war? The natives did it first. But it's only immoral when it's done back to them?
Completely agree. Theres a narrative being told by the liberals currently to make the indians seem like they were just peaceful land loving ppl who never did anything wrong. We can not let them rewrite history this way.
This is strictly from the views of the colonists and has no input from those who were colonized. Read "Our Beloved Kin" which will give you more info on the lead up to the war from the Native perspective.

Was Springfield overlooked simply because it was mostly burned down and there was technically no battle there?
My 9x great grandfather, Edward Bobet, was killed during King Philip’s War on June 25, 1675 as he was walking with his dog, _returning_ to the garrison in Taunton, Ma from his home in Berkley (family story tells that his wife made him go home to get a “cheese hoop”). He heard a Wampanoag warrior coming so he climbed a tree - which his trusty dog then barked at, alerting the Wampanoag man and resulting in my 9th great grandfather being scalped and killed. Fortunately, my 8X great grandfather had already been born. 😬
I never heard anything about the landlord squabble and did the police interview him? Did he have an alibi? Also if any part of the weapon is left has it been tested with today’s science? So interesting!! Thank you as I enjoyed this very much!
These are my ancesters
Great series! Thanks 😊
David, are you aware of the indian massacre and Fairhaven during the King Phillips war? Theres ruins of a garrison near the massacre site.
So first of all I would like to say thank you for presenting this information but I do have one observation to make. It’s an observation that I have found true about many historians who become interested in this topic. Why is this period of history always presented from the perspective of the Puritan settlers and not indigenous peoples? The indigenous peoples were here thousands of years before these “ new comers” came, and they have a very different take on these events. So the real question I think I’m asking is why is it so easy to fall into a European bias when it comes to these historical retellings?
I don’t believe the story about picking off the Wampanoag warrior at a half mile, which is 880 yards. I don’t know what really happened, but at the very least someone exaggerated extensively.
What a wonderful history lesson you gave us ! So full of information never discussed in other documentaries! You really did a great job on this, and Thank You.
Very interesting thankyou
This is amazing, thank you! I found your videos looking for all the sites to visit from the war. (We tried Queen’s Fort in RI but it’s closed to the public now).
have you ay information on Captain Freeborn Moulton?
I ended up watching 1-5 without stopping. And like you I have ties to King Philips War. My 8th time Great Grandfather Richard Wheeler was one of the residents killed in Lancaster on 10 Feb 1676 he was outside of what was called the Wheeler Garrison. I only have a couple document's on this but hope to take a trip up that way this spring and see what I can find. And 20 years later his son my 7th GGF was ambushed and killed by Indians while on a return trip from Concord to Lancaster in 1695 and his wife never was seen again from what I have discovered so far. Great videos thank you
I just finished reading the “Mayflower” by Nathan Philbrick. Then I found this video, plan to watch all this series. Great photos and commentary!
had an Ajax base half a mile up the road in Nahant MA in the 50s. They used to roll by my house in the annual Memorial Day parade.
Thank you for your work. I have loved learning about pre revolutionary US, New England history. Cheers
I'm descended from them on my mother's side.
This is great! I know I will be watching the whole series. I hope to visit the places you mention.
David, add a 6th video to the series. A significant story of the native Praying Indians sent to Deer Island during the King Philip War for their “protection” needs to be told.
Nice history presentation. My husband's (multiple numbered) great uncle was John Howland. My (multiple numbered) gr-grandfather was Thomas Rogers.
The Wampanogs were there before the crazy Pilgrims came along. King Philip was my 9th Great Grandfather.
Yes that’s true, they were here first. My 9x great grandfather was actually Edward Bobet, killed during the war while walking back to the garrison. I actually still live on the land he purchased in 1652.

One might be shocked at how many of those old spinning wheels are out there. My local history museum in my small Maine town has an attic stuffed full of them... practically every house had one at one time.
John and Elizabeth are my ancestors. They have a whole lot of descendants.
Great work, but you drive a number of people away with all your lip smacking.
Nice presentation, enjoyed a lot. There is no “t” at end of “across” ;-)
Great!
Go to the next slide!
Yes!! I never realized how exciting that phrase would be. To think this slide show of a devoted enthusiast is the best history we have of a critical and fascinating piece of New England history. More slides please
My mom used to have the same spinning wheel (probably came on the Elizabeth and Ann) and the irony is it was stolen from a Mayflower moving van when we moved from Maine to Oregon way back in 1953!
😅
She moved away cause she was mortified of what happened. Can you imagine being around that? I think she put two and two together after the fact and figured out it had to be Lizzie. On two different times Lizzie was trying to get Bridget to leave the house. She was trying to make sure Bridget was occupied so she could do the murders. Poor Bridgett. She must have considered them all to be her bosses. She wanted to get as far away as possible
