That was better than watching TV
Writers block is still a thing but it starts to get a better. I found myself constantly changing guitars when I felt like an idea wasn´t really working. This time when I took the baritone, everything started to fall nicely into place. It´s still not my guitar since it´s my brothers, but it became a stable in my guitar stand. It sounds stupid, but even if it´s my least used one, I love looking at it. The neck is one of the most comfortable ones ever for me and nothing´s missing soundwise. Everytime I manage to get a recording done with it, I wonder why I don´t use it more often. I guess it´s still a niche instrument for me. Having the B-tuning of my 7string while being a 6string and me just having a bass tunined to D, too much thinking is probably the thing putting me off for the most part.
Maybe it works best when my mind isn´t running circles beforehand.

When I strated sending back and forth ideas and small loops with a friend of mine a few years back, I didn´t though that it would become a thing and would turn into a UA-cam channel. What is fun for the most part and a thing I really enjoy doing, it can be pretty hard at times. I mostly start with nothing but a few notes in mind and then improvise a whole lot, to be at best something I enjoy li...

Coming up with interesting loop can be so hard from time to time. I took some time off from writing, since it felt almost impossible to come up with ideas I was satisfied with. After a week without trying to get anything down, I realized I started to hear melodies again. Before that, the only thing I heard were just notes and nothing else. It's just pointless to firce it at some point. I think ...

That´s actually the first thing I recorded before last weeks evening session. I didn´t knew what to do with this one at first so I started adding some drums, which doesn´t seem to fit at all. Regardless of what I tried to come up with, it quickly showed that one was supposed to be guitar only. I always find it kinda fascination when everything sounds cohisive afterwards, even when there wasn´t ...

The beauty of a summer evening with being outside playing guitar shortly after a rain fall. The air is cool and fresh, the evening light is on the rise and having some artificial light makes everything cozy. I didn't felt I had to chase any purpose getting something sone which serves more than just the purpose of the process of playing guitar itself. Even if it hasn't been any special in terms ...

I had that simple bass line probably everyone used at some point, but I thought why not try to come up with something moody. The Walrus Audio Fable was such a helpful thing to add some more interest to the background. I could get lost in these dancing notes for hours. After listening to the whole song I think it really has something melancoly to it, which perfectly fitted the light scheme I cam...
My Mindset when Looping on Guitar
Переглядів 9003 місяці тому
The process of looping can be very diverse. What I like to do most of the time is building soundscapes to lose myself in for quiet a while. It´s a fun thing to listen for little pockets to add a little bit of something to. When I bought my first looper I wasn´t sure how to use it really. It happend quickly for me getting aanoyed by listening to the same loop over and over again, but as I find o...

Getting myself the Zoom R4 had one reason and that is getting out of the studio. Sometimes, changing location can help to spark some creativity. It's a slow process getting back writing things I really like. I decided excepting writing mediocre songs on the way to greater ones. At first I thought I liked it being more laid back and when getting the drums done I thought there's just a bit of energy missing. Finishing songs, even if I think I could've done better, is better than having 10 unfished ideas floating around never to be heard. ...

Getting myself a looper was one of the best ideas I ever had. Especially a 2 track looper like the 22500 opened up so much possibilities to play around with ideas. These days I just like to get a simple idea going and then see were it leads me. It´s a good exercise to improvise, press record and then improvise again. It helped me a lot learning chord shapes and little licks, but I´m at the poin...

The reason to get the Zoom R4 was just to be able to move around with my pedalboard. Sometimes it´s helpful just to change location when you running out of ideas. Lighting is a fun thing

No guitar playing in this one. This time it´s just about another thing deeply connected to my videos. This time it´s about lighting and what you can do to achieve a certain look. It won´t be a topic I´ll do very often, at leat that´s not the plan. I have so much fun experimenting with light and composition that I felt the need to make a video of it. That´s it, nothing left to say.
What do summer evenings sound like?

No drums or what ever, just calm formless looping. Writing with someone on Instagram made me put my Baklengs back on the board. I now it´s capable of some very murky sounds, but I stay on the same setting more or less everytime I use it. I took myself some time just twisting knobs and watching the demo by AmbientEndeavors, which was such a huge inspiration. When I found myself laid back enough ...

I´m sure it´s not a video for everyone, but it´s the neccesary work to be done. So why not make something out of that. When I record those loop-songs, I really can´t do that much to the track beside mixing and maybe fixing some minor things. Having something that feels more like an actual written song, getting some more going on with the drum track, is the only way to go sometimes. A certain gr...

nice ! it go well with backing track. lots pedals are fun to look at (even though I am not guitar player), but what about to show your real life also?
id love to learn how all this works anyone have good tutorials?
@@fruitinthetropics It really depends on what do you wanna know in specific. Do you want to learn more about how the pedals wor or about the looping part? I did a video called "my mindset when looping" which could be a good start maybe. Thanks for watching!
@@Andreas_tropicalwinter yes how to rig the pedals and use looping with them!
@@fruitinthetropics Okay, got you. Maybe I can come up with something if you´re pacient 😅
Amazing!! loved it, by the way, which Ibanez model is that? looks so beautiful...
@@Don__clandestino Thanks man! For the guitar, it's an Ibanez mmm1. It was Mike Mushoks signature Baritone back in the day.
Very nice indeed.Question: The drums are on a pre-recorded loop? Everything sounds very well balanced. Thank you!
@@ypjobin Thanks! The drums are programmed in post. At first I did the recording to a drum-loop, with the looper synced to my DAW. I did a video called "in sync without midi" where I go over how I set up the looper.

I love hearing your music and seeing your process. Couple of things: are the drums from your DAW? And could you do a really slow run though of how you create loops?!!! Slower than your last one.
@@rogerward5546 Thanks for commenting! The drums are out of my DAW, exactly like I explained in the 22500 Video. Which parts are still comfusing to you and do you also use the 22500?

I really liked that song at the 4:22 mark...it was a great recording!
@@RedDogGuitars Thanks, it's on my list to re-record that song this year to put it on an album.
Squiers when re-wired and mildly upgraded can be a blast. I love the way pickguard is shaped in the bridge / plate area, such a minor detail but it makes it look like it was meant to be.
@@andrii.konkov That were exactly my thoughts. When I looked at it a bit more in detail the look of the pickguard seemed off. I know why it was supposed to look this way, but I think it was a missed opportunity by Squier. The nut was also changed to a custom made one to narrow the string spacing at the head.
@@Andreas_tropicalwinter It is a missed opportunity indeed, but I guess they want to keep mash up theme very obvious.
@@andrii.konkov Yes, it's obvious why they made the decision to take the standard Tele pickguard, it could've been more special than it already is 😅

@@thevaliant_music This comment made my day 🙌
Great playing, i really like it. What do you think about the squire? The neck looks beautiful!
Xes, I had three of these in my hands and the neck of this one stood out so much. This one in particular had a lot of querks including a wrong wirering and pretty bad fretbuzz. I fixed those things on my own since that was the reason for me to get a cheaper guitar. In this case it was perfect for the guitar having some issues to fix. Otherwise it sounds great, feels pretty good and is a guitar I still love to jam around with as you can see. I did a full video on this Squier last year if you´re interested. Thanks for watching!
@@Andreas_tropicalwinter That sounds interesting, I’ll check it out! Keep up the great work ☺️
What power supply do you use to power the Hologram Microcosm? I'm having trouble finding a suitable adapter with the exact voltage and amperage.
@@frescainsalata6422 I use the Fender Engineroom 12. Sometimes pressing the reverse button (preset selector) takes a few times...and I don't know if it's the button or due to the power supply. I had the problem that the preset selector went a bit wild from time to time and went backwards for a second when I was scrolling forward. With nothing really on the board it didn't happened. I'm still not sure if the micocosm is too picky with voltage or if it's a weird interaction with another pedal. What are your problems?
@@Andreas_tropicalwinter , thank you very much, I’m gonna check the engineroom. At the moment, I don't have any issues; I'm simply looking for a suitable power supply that can handle both the Microcosm and the other pedals on my pedalboard without problems. Since the Microcosm requires 9V at 1A, I haven't found any power supply that provides power with these specific requirements. For now, the Microcosm is the only pedal powered by its own adapter on my pedalboard, which isn’t necessarily a problem, but I wouldn’t mind having fewer cables around.
@@frescainsalata6422 1A? The manual says at least 400mA and the EngineRoom gives you 500mA per 9V outlet. If 1A is more reliable I need to look out for a new power supply 😅
❤
It’s really cool! I enjoyed listening! Give us more!
Just found your channel and I’m so inspired. You’re great. This is exactly what I’d love to do one day. Also the aesthetics are spot on. A question about the drums… Are they added in post on the computer or does it run through your board some how? Keep up the good work!
@@Retrobeet Thanks for your kind words! On videos where the drum groove isn't changing, it's usually becauce I used drums inside the looper. In this video the drums where programmed inside my daw afterwards.
@@Andreas_tropicalwinter that's great, they sound really good. The mix is spot on. I've been looking at the 22500 looper myself. I see there's no midi, but guessing it tells you your tempo. Either way, I'll be watching your stuff going forward, really good work 👍
@@Retrobeet Yeah, the 22500 is pretty good. You can dial in the bpm and in my experience it will stay in sync with my daw. I record a blank layer to its internal drums, then switch them off and use a groove inside my daw to keep the timing. For me it works fine 👍

You can probably save space by replaceing the ring thing with Boss OC-5. It's polyphonic and there's an option to only put octave in your lower strings. But yeah you lose that whammy feature..
@@rovenordiales Thanks for your recommendation, but I saved some space already getting the EHX Pitchfork. That works pretty good so far and I can use it as a Whammy. Sadly neither the Boss nor the Pitchfork can do the tremolo, chorus and vibe sounds.

@@m.s6340 Thanks, I think it just takes time for a channel to grow ✌️
where is the compressor in your signal and why did you choose that position?
@@lcglazer You can take a look into the description. I have the whole signal listed there. As you can see, it's Limelight, Special Cranker, Mood, Fable and then Squish As. Since my Overdrives are pretty good reacting to my playing dynamics, Squish As follows after. When I would put the Compressor in front of my drives, I would kill the dynamics beforehand. That's the reason I like to even out the level after my drive section. Mood and Fable are also before my Compressor. Both can be used for a bed of Reverb and in case of Mood as a Looper. It's nice to get a more even leveling out of those layers using Squish As after, right before everthing hits the DD500. Further questions are welcome!
