2022 Chevy 2500HD...6 months and 10K...What nobody tells you.

    Hello, what year 2500 did you go with? I tow my 5.0TA that has a lift on it with my 2010 Silverado. I want to get a 2500 like you, I was concerned that the floor of the bed may be too high compared to my 2010. Currently my Andersen hitch is already on the lowest ball setting. And it tows level. If the floor of the 2500 is higher, I won’t be able to lower the ball anymore to tow level. I’m wondering how you got yours to tow so level with the bed floor being so much higher then the Ram 1500. Any input? Thanks!

    • @oldguyobservations8724
      @oldguyobservations8724 2 місяці тому

      Hmmm....I can't comment on the floor height of the 2500. All I really concerned myself with was the sidewall height of the bed. It's been a bit but the height of the sidewall of the bed was at the exact maximum limit described on the Escape website with the 5.0 with a lift once I had the trailer connected to the hitch. The trailer is currently in Florida and I'm in Colorado for a bit longer so I can't check the ball position in the Andersen hitch but I know it is either the middle or highest position. It rides reasonable level as you can see in the video but it really clears the bed sidewall easily and I have no concerns about the pinbox hitting the sidewall. This was my absolute largest concern! Honestly, if you have a 5.0 with the lift and are interested in the current generation of 2500's (mine is a 2022), just install it similar to mine and I'm very confident you won't ever have a problem.

Have you tried adjusting the headlights angle for better illumination of the road. That can change depending on your load. Perhaps with an empty bed your lights are adjusted too high?

      Hey Josh, Sorry if I was not clear but I realize that CarPlay has to allow the temp to show on the screen. I was trying to say there is a lot of empty room on the screen between the tach and speedo. GM has to realize that most buyers will use CarPlay so why not put the temp in a place that won’t be hidden behind a CarPlay screen. Clear as mud?…

It weighs 6000lbs from the factory. It’s GVWR is 7100 pounds as every Ram 1500 is. So, 1100 pounds of available cargo is the limit.

    Several of the reasons I used to be the biggest GM fanboy were dependability (above all), value, comparitave performance, and looks. These new ones FAIL in every one of these categories! I absolutely wont buy Ford or Chrysler (or whatever its called for these next 20 minutes!), so I guess I'll just hobble around in these older pre-2008 GMs until they just vaporize as dust in the wind. Shame what has happened to automobiles and the world in general. Enjoy your $80,000 Emissions deisel that they can't even spare an extra $6 on proper lighting, rear seat ventillation, or $.10 for floormat fasteners. I designed better looking vehicles when i was 9 years old, and my mirrors didnt have a bigger aerodynamic drag than an entire economy car while lookin' all LGBTQ... Why must an empty truck weigh half as much as a Class A motorhome, and cost $120 to fill with fluid that just vanishes into air? Why must you pay for commercial grade cow piss to clean up those emissions, later guaranteed to have major problems, AND the DPF, AND the EGR, etc!? The Gubment must step in and ruin every good thing! Whats next, Chinese Electric garbage for $150k?... oh wait, were already in that dystopia.😢 No offense meant to the poster of this vid, you seem like a nice guy.

    Honestly, im not a fan of adaptive cruise control. You're correct. It is made to keep a food distance. People get in that zone, and the vehicle slows down drastically. I have it kn my toyota. I never use it for that reason. I think it's the nature of adoptive cruise control on any vehicle.

    So not to nitpick or tell you your opinion is wrong but to complain about a feature you can turn off or just plain not use is a little absurd. You don’t have to use the digital camera mirror, you can flip the tab and use it just like a regular mirror. Your not forced to use it, so don’t complain about it is all I’m saying

    • @oldguyobservations8724
      @oldguyobservations8724 Рік тому

      Well, if I sounded like I was complaining, that was not my intent. I really like the feature and the additional viewing area is awesome. Plus, it really helps with “night vision”. So, it’s a feature that GM bundled with the HUD and I think the combo was over $1200. Point being, I paid for the camera and I really want to use it, you just can’t use it without reading glasses if you’re over 40. I was not aware of that requirement and probably wouldn’t have spent the money. I was just trying to give some other Old Guys a warning…that’s all.

    I just bought a 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 hd ltz and I have to say that they must have watched your video. 98% of all your negative features have been corrected. ( LOL). That being said, they still haven’t added inside lighting and the sunroof. But everything else seems to be corrected. If you’re ready to upgrade… find a GM employee or retiree to get a “friends and family “ discount. It definitely helps to get the price down on a truck with a lot of options. Great job on the UA-cam videos. I was considering the same 5th wheel camper.

    The one small feature that I really like on my 22 High Country 3500 SRW LB, if you are towing with the Tow Haul turned on, and shut down for fuel, to eat or whatever, if you start up within 4 hours, the Tow Haul is still active. I had a 2006 SLT 3500, I pulled a 5th wheel to Alaska and back to Florida, and was stopping for fuel 5 and 6 times a day (you don't want to pass an open fuel stop), and a couple times I forgot to turn the Tow Haul back on and the transmission temp would climb. I had an 18 Denali Dually and you had to turn it back on also. The 2022 High Country 3500 SRW is the best by far of the 3 Duramax trucks that I've owned. All were LB, the Dually was good for towing but not very good for shopping trips etc. I really liked your review

      Just an FYI, I have a GMC Sierra AT4 3500, and it came with a tiny fuel tank. You can drop on a Titan fuel tank for much greater range. My 36-gallon fuel tank was anemic when pulling my 42-foot fifth wheel, so I dropped in a 56 gallon. You can go larger with your 8 foot bed...

    Thank you for talking about the Chevy Silverado. I just got a 12000 mile 2021 3500 Z-71 HD ( none duel rear) i had to have 8 foot bed. I have always bought Ford pickups. Very happy with this 1 Ton. Like you said with Duramax Allison the freeway milage none towing blows me away. I have the best mileage recorded on the dash. My wife got 31.7 MPG on down hill of a mountain pass. The big trackson tires on it, I will buy those tires again. The nouse is so small inside. We got a big Dog seat cover for back. The clip on straps to headrest is wonderful for keeping it coving all the back seat. And the cable leash snaps into seatbelts. The small back window is just perfect for his head to stick out. The great bed steps use them every time i get in bed, great idea Chevy. Ford just started doing bed steps in 2023. The camera down angle to hitch is great, with the two other backup camera controls for backing.

    I owned a 2020 2500 one issue I had was when I traveled behind like a garbage truck the smell would make its way into the truck. I double checked to ensure the vent was closed and even had the operation checked. everything was functional and operating correctly. My 2007 chevy suburban kept out smells but he the 2020 2500HD could not keep the smell out. One other time a car was stepping on the gas and the hight performance of the car expelled excessive exhaust smell and yes you guessed it the smell made its way into the truck and the vents was set to circulate interior air. There was an area where there was a control burn same situation and the smell made it's way into the truck. The smell of diesel fumes from other trucks would make its way into the cab of the truck as well. This was one of my major gripes. It became such an issue I had thought about trading it in and getting the 2023 - 2024 model in hopes that they indirectly fixed it. no one has complained about this and Chevy did not have nothing on record about this complaint either. Once while travelling from North Carolina to Arizona my Map kept having me make Uturns on the high way. I had to take my phone out to verify my location and direction. Only happened once. I enjoyed my truck like you. I added a gun safe, bed cap from Leer, brighter light bulbs for high beam and low beams. I was going to add, under seat storage in the back seat, and decked storage system for the truck bed.
