Underwood Training helps businesses and people in Leeds and Yorkshire learn first aid skills that save lives.
We provide accredited, environment-specific first aid training for workplaces, outdoor environments, healthcare professionals, performance artists, schools and child-care facilities.
We’ve taught thousands of students life-saving physical and mental health first aid skills that can be used everywhere. We think everyone should have the confidence and first aid skills to act swiftly in an emergency situation before professional medical help arrives. Our goal is to ensure that the students we teach have the knowledge and ability to do this.

AED Awareness at Brenntag
Brenntag invited Helen Underwood to run a number of AED Awareness sessions as part of their activities during the week of World Safety Day 2022. As the company has a number of sites, to benefit employees at other sites and anyone else who wishes to watch, we also made a video - hope you can see how simple and easy it is to use an AED and that this inspires you to give it a go and use one should the need arise.

How to use a Pocket Mask with a 1-way valve to give rescue breaths

Well, It's too bad if the pocket mask is not easy to find.
Very true! A pocket mask is not part of the BS5988 first aid kit contents, however in my opinion if you've got an AED on site, you really ought to be investing in at least one pocket mask and attaching it via a zip-tie to the AED carry bag. For adults, compression only CPR for a few minutes until the AED is in use can make all the difference, however as time passes adding in rescue breaths will improve the chance of a positive outcome. It's all down to your on site risk assessments relating to equipment purchase and knowing where your emergency kit is located.

Thank you Helen, excellent advise as always. I would have done compression's without the breaths but I would never have thought about the cloth on the face. Looking forward to seeing you later this year for my first aid at work refresher and I hope you guys stay safe.
