How To Install Valley Metal
Переглядів 2,8 тис.3 роки тому

Good luck getting a price. I feel like tge consumer is kept in the dark so the contractor can name their price and Permalock can maintain THAT relationship. Its more important to maintain that middleman to them. Go to Reinke shakes. At least tgeir warranty doesnt REQUIRE a licensed install.

Just installed a new roof and totally confused why roofers shingled over the apron flashing on the chimney and thinking maybe they used something like this, but so stupid how they flashed the wall flashing (L flashing under torch down) with the shed wall connection failing code inspection, worried they buried the base flashing under the shingles too but inspector not trying to find out if they screwed up or not.

So is this product sold to the general public or do you have to be a business to buy these? I'm asking because I have a serious interest, but the interest is keeping people I don't trust off my roof as I would do it myself like anything else in life, I just don't trust contractors, I know there are some good ones, but I work too hard to get burnt so I work harder to ensure that doesn't happen. But if I can't buy these without being a contractor then good ol fashion metal roof will be the way I go. It will last my life just fine, neah I don't like the asphalt shingles either what a waste.

Dude, aluminum is 3 times lighter than steel, steel tiles are 0.5-0.75mm thick. This means that aluminum can be up to 1.5mm thick while maintaining weight. 1.5mm cannot be penetrated even by hailstones. I mean why is it still not common? Aluminum is the most common metal in the world, you can make a roof even from 2mm tiles. I think if they do this on their own, having a minimum of machines, you can make an excellent eternal roof.

I believe code says anything over 48", common sense and experience tells me that anything over 36" should have a cricket. You also must factor slope, region, roofing materials, etc. I personally think this is not a good way to flash a chimney using this material, but what would I know, I've only been doing this since 1987, and learned from older highly skilled Craftsman. I see a lot of failure points and skipped steps. Thanks 🙈 🙉🙊
