I think the reason why there is very minimal amount of environments that sometimes things are kept from certain groups of Skylanders, but also that it may just be that they think that this will help the greater good and to put past grudges aside for now.

there was this video idea I had that you could try out, it's called "the rule of cool and how to use it. (and how to not use it)" it's this basic idea of how some writers will use the rule of cool meaning they just add whatever they think is cool, in the video you would go over Skylanders how they use this rule to explain the story and concepts. but then go over fnaf and how that just made a well-made a carefully drafted story into an overly complicated mess, with to many ideas going in wildly directions. just a cool video idea you could use.

When it comes to characters like smolderdash I call them elementals (like in D&D).

I wonder if Smolderdash was released in a later game instead of Swap Force if she would have been part of the light or dark elements. The emphasis of eclipses in her moveset and design gives her a really strong connection to light and darkness so maybe her designers would have made one of those elements her element if they existed during her creation. Heck, I'd love for her to introduce the idea of skylanders being a part of two different elements at the same time naturally (Unlike the Swap Force who have to swap parts of their body with a different skylander in order to be a part of 2 different elements)
