Alligators stop me from buying a house in Florida…

We bought a modest home in a 55 plus & right on an extremely busy road. We moved for what we thought were the right reasons, but this community is not for us. We tried selling, but because people here leaving/passing on-homes are cheap. We would love to move to a quieter less populated town here. But now since the hurricanes, home ins. Will go up even more, so we don’t feel optimistic to sell . This town has gotten WAY too big.

I think you get way more than anywhere else as far a home quality n size. Elsewhere the same house would be 50%+ higher. So, that mitigates the property taxes. Insurance is high in all areas of Florida. Oh my gosh!!! Today makes 1 year we got our keys to our PSLW home!!

She's got this right. We moved to PSL, from Va, and out in less than a year. Car insurance was 1/2 the coverage at 2.5X the cost, property taxes 2X, house insurance 5X. Adding major insult injury, on average pay was $3-$4 hr less. We didn't have a mortgage...still unaffordable for us. But if you can afford it PSL is great, the drive to beach isnt too bad especially if you live East of 1.

Do you know if Newfield will have a CDD fee. If so what will the fee range be?

I was seriously looking at Port Saint Lucie until I discovered the Taxes are the Highest in the State! 🤦‍♂️

Housing stats.. Raising Taxes 1 trash pick up a week. 1 bulk pick up no bigger than a refrigerator. Traffic sucks. Most lots have trees removed to no shade. Place is miserable

High taxes, poor library, not the top of line school, public transportation, unheard of.

You didn't even show the best parts of Stuart. You talked about the sandle store downtown and a trinket shop instead of Rare Earth Gallery or our historic Lyric Theater. House of refuge should get a mention. And maybe the feed store. Hudson's sucks. We all prefer Pelican cafe and miss it very much. Maybe you aren't from around here.
