Hello everyone and welcome to my channel.
I created this channel to share my passion and knowledge with everyone, posting tutorials, tips and tricks, hacks, giving and getting feedback. This channel's goal is also to help those who are new to miniature painting and wants to improve painting skills or simply check how my work and style can add to their own. I love GW's world so Warhammer 40k, fantasy, age of Sigmar, warcry, and so on!
I will not focus only on painting but also on hobby-related stuff, such as what gear is best, and life-hack for mini painters.
Any miniature has storytelling hidden within. Let's find it out together :)

How to make the most REALISTIC ICE and SNOW EFFECT for miniature bases - STEP BY STEP
Переглядів 116 тис.3 роки тому
Ice is arguably one of the most challenging scenic base and terrain to replicate during our miniature painters’ journey. There are many products out there that claim to be “realistic,” but I always struggled to use them, at least until I discovered my recipe. In this tutorial, I am showing how to make super realistic ice snowed bases in less than 10 minutes. ⚡Follow me on: dark_go...
How do you glue the miniature on top after without ruining it with super glue though?
I'm trying to go big or go home for my very first scaling diorama project capturing a very elaborate location in one of my tabletop settings and need to assemble a roughly 16in high 2ft wide glacial wall, with visible depth and detail over the whole thing as well as a gated cave mouth at its base and everything. Hopefully this guide video will help it not to look too rough...
So amazing
FIGHISSIMO!
Grazie!
Amazing, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Is there a reason to not just airbrush the blues as well?(before the resin)
you can do with the airbrush too 😊
Absolutely love this tutorial, I'm currently using it on my heresy Raven Guard (with Space Wolf allies). Hope to see more from you at some point!
GOD BLESS THIS TUTORIAL! HOW _ _ _ _ _ _ _ LONG I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS!!!
Lookin lovely! I wanted to do a bigger frozen base but only freeze parts of it, any tips on screen off parts I dont want the UV resin to go to on the mini?
Danke dir!
Dude, that is an amazing ice base!
Ffffffakkkk that's a good tutorial - I now need to get UV resin asap😂 (for the fedipaint competition over on mastodon)
Hey! Thanks for this tutorial, it's great and you gave me a few ideas for a project i have in mind. I was wondering, have you ever tried, if it is even possible, mixing UV resin with colours?
Amazing!
Love the video! Would pinning a model to a base like this show the pinning rod through the ice or is the resin not deep enough to show that?
Such an excellent tutorial! I am going to try this 100% What was the reason for painting the first resin element fully? Was it purely to get additional height or was it so that the there a coloured front edge for photography from the front that would be seen through the resin vs only colouring the flat base before applying the ice chunks?
Wonderful works!!!
You should start a business selling packs of these! Great ideas and video!
thank you 😍❤
Im having an issue with super gluing my uv resin pieces together. Any suggestions?
Wonderful tutorial, thx much.
Today i completed my first battle ready model ever using this as basing. Thank you for such a great video. I really love this
Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!
This was super helpful, thanks so much for sharing.
could u please do a nurgly base next?
It made for a great ice base. Thanks for your help! I saw a cool kraken? decoration around the 7:50 mark, I'd love to try that! If you don't mind, could you tell me how to do it???
When gluing the model to the base with super glue do you find it frosts up the base?
This is great!
Brilliant! really effective
great process, thanks !
Please send us more awesomeness 😢😢😢
Hi I am using your ideas and I am very satisfied. Maybe you could record a video where you create something for Salamanders or Blood Ravens?
I want to do these ice themed Khorne demons. Sort of a “vengeance is a dish best served cold” kind of thing. Also I have the greenstuff world resin flaming skulls. I want to use them for ethereal cold fire on the bases
Fantastic!!!
Can you recommend a new amazon link for the resin? the old link is broken.
Amazing! thank your share
Hey man love your videos. Hope every thing is doing well.
this is the best ice base effect out there
Great work, thank you for the video.
Ciao Dark Goblin! I want to do this for my Sons of Behemat army, making them snow/frost giants. Thanks for the tutorial! Mille grazie
Just a newbie question, how much resin do I need (more or less) for a 32 mm base? Just to understand how much resin I have to buy! Great video and tutorial!
could you substitute the white paste for white acrylic paint, or is there something else to the paste? is it denser? just struggling to find some.
That was amazing dude, great job!
you can mix the uv resin with paint directly as well. Its good for getting slightly 3d streaks of color. just apply the uv resin and add the smallest drop of paint and slightly/lightly mix it with a toothpick. You can use blue to simulate a crack in the deeper part of the ice or you can actually use a bit of white to simulate trapped air bubbles.
I'm making a frozen mountain shelf with my ice dragon atop of it. I have ice sickles, small Ivey waterfall with cave behind it. I have snow effects, some wire grass, few scattered areas of small rocks and in some of rock edges I have puddles of frozen water but I'm trying to get a realistic ice effect and maybe use some blue lighting either from base or from dragon pointed down upon a few tents & warriors... Always how it goes though I have 4 unfinished projects.. lol😅
@@thunderballz74 For frozen puddles my go to is vallejo water texture -> wait for it to fully dry -> top off with a layer of green stuff world liquid frost.
Where do I buy UV resign?
Amazon
Bro. Your tutorials are golden. Subscribed, but only under the condition you throw out at least 10 more videos ❤ killer creativity and talent my guy! Also can I request some takes on ocean - epoxy - or water effects? Keep up the great work
Yes! Please make a tutorial for the ice rocks/ mold-making.
For ice spikes, is there a way to keep detail all the way around it? For ice spikes to place on the miniature itself?
you may not need it now but you can imprint both sides of your foil shape, once they are cured apply some resin with a brush on the flat part to line up with your other impression so flat side to flat side and hold while you cure again and they will seal to make a full ice spike. you can gently file and buff resin if there is a seam or join line.
Cool
I am looking for ice ideas to use in my Mr Freeze book nook diorama. Thank you for these ideas, I’m sure I will use and adapt them to achieve a great ice look for the cave.
