Perfectly Cooked Frozen Shrimp in 12 Minutes
My Overall Goal: Using minimal effort to produce macro-friendly, healthy foods that taste really good.
Enjoy!
I have 3-5 seasonings I really like and can cycle as I get temporarily bored of one of them. You should do a lot of experimenting. Here are five of my favorites - I’ve provided an Amazon link, but all are likely found more cheaply at a local supermarket. I’ve ordered them by frequency of use:
1) Everglades Seasoning: If you don’t live in the south or know what Publix is, this might be harder to find. Supermarkets in southern states typically have it.
It works incredibly well on any meat (dynamite on chicken wings), as a rub, and even on eggs. Has a smoky, black peppery spice to it. Yes, it contains MSG. The popular notion that MSG is a silent killer is an enormous, longstanding myth, and volumes of studies have proven it’s not harmful as a general rule.

2) Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning: One of my all time favorites. A bit on the spicy side. Very good in broccoli & cheese mixtures or just about anything with sharp cheddar.

3) Lawry’s Garlic Salt with Parsley: Another all time favorite, particularly for steak. Different brands of garlic salts are nowhere near the same, and I’ve tried many - this is better than any other brand.

4) Lawry’s Seasoned Salt: Just a good all around seasoning. Not too spicy. Contrary to my insistence on Lawry’s Garlic salt, I don’t insist on Lawry’s for seasoned salt since the other varieties I’ve tried are just as good.

5) Old Bay: Very good for seafood of all kind - particularly shrimp - and decent on chicken. It has plenty of other applications but it’s my go-to for seafood.

Read the packaging. Remember to buy Wild caught USA shrimp. Most of the store frozen shrimp is farmed in Asia.

I hope you threw away that frying pan. Those flecks of non-stick coating flaking off in to your food is cancer inducing.

If you defrost them and bread/season them, my mom taught me to pat them dry with paper towels beforehand, after rinsing and before seasoning.
