How To Make Vegan Hog Head Cheese!
Simple ingredients:
* Fresh Organic Oyster Mushrooms.(for the meat of our Vegan Hoghead Cheese)
*Vegetable Broth
*Fresh Organic Bell Peppers Red and Green,
*Onion and Garlic.
*Seasoning/ Spices to your taste
*Vinegar ..White Distilled or Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
*Oil / Olive and Hempseed oil.
* Green Olives with Stuffed pimento
*Jalapenos peppers from jar
*Worcestershire Sauce (optional)
*Yellow Mustard (liquid)
SPICES AND SEASONINGS: I used, but season to your taste preferences!
These are the Seasoning spices for making the Hoghead Cheese’s Broth flavorings.
Cumin powder
Coriander dried
Curry Powder
Celery Seeds
Cayenne Pepper
Red Chili pepper Flakes
Worcestershire Sauce
Thyme
Black Pepper
Yellow mustard (liquid)
Sea Salt or Himalayan Pink Salt
Onion Powder
Oregano (dried)
Olive oil
Hemp seed oil
*Vinegar ..White Distilled or Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
*3-4 Bay Leaves
Preparation & Measurements:
In medium to large Pot: *Make a hearty 32 oz of vegetable broth or buy ready made 32 oz. size of Organic Vegetable Broth…. Use entire 32 oz of broth.
Put in all the following ingredients.
*1/8 TEASPOON each of:
Cumin powder 1/8 tsp
Coriander dried 1/8 tsp
Curry Powder 1/8 tsp
Celery Seeds 1/8 tsp or less
Cayenne Pepper 1/8 tsp
*1/4 TEASPOON each of:
Red Chili pepper Flakes 1/4 tsp
Worcestershire Sauce 1/4 tsp
*1/2 TEASPOON each of:
Thyme 1/2 tsp
Black Pepper 1/2 tsp
Yellow mustard 1/2 tsp
**Vinegar ..White Distilled or Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
1/2 tsp to 1tsp (taste preference)
*1 TEASPOON each of:
Sea Salt or Himalayan Pink Salt 1 tsp
Onion Powder 1 tsp
Oregano (dried) 1 tsp
Olive oil 1 tsp
Hemp seed oil 1 tsp
*3-4 Bay Leaves
Cook on Medium low to a simmer heat for 30 mins.
so your veggies, seasonings and broth blend and are seasoned through.
NEXT: TIME to make
MEAT PREPARATION:
* For the (meat) of our Vegan Hoghead Cheese. I used Fresh Organic Oyster Mushrooms. package size 100 g 3. 5 oz use 3 or 4 packages ..The stems give a grizzle texture.
* Rinse and cut the fresh Organic Oyster Mushrooms into small bite size pieces.
* Add the mushrooms to the broth you cooked for 30mins
* Now cook the mushrooms in broth at medium heat for 15+ mins maybe 20 mins. check to see if mushrooms are cooked but not to soft… we want them to have a lil meaty bite texture…After this is done, set pot aside and let cool to room temperature. Then put in Fridge until it gets nice and cold. I leave mine over night, but you don’t have too, 2 to 3 hours is okay
Now that your meat (mushrooms) and broth are seasoned through, Strain the cold broth in a separate bowl; then SEPARATE the mushrooms from the veggies in pot and cut into bite size pieces set aside. you’ll be adding them to the jelling mixture/pot in the next step.
Now that all that’s done time to make some Vegan Hoghead Cheese. Yay!
*We will be using Agar Agar to create the jelling effect of the fat from the hog’s head, pig’s feet and hogmaws that are used in the traditional meat version.
*For the jelling: For a 32oz Batch you will use
* 1 CUP of that delicious broth (STRAINED)
* 3 CUPS of Water
* 3 tsp of AGAR AGAR POWDER or 1 TBS
Preparation: Get a pot that can hold at least 32 oz of liquid ready …..
Step 1. Take 1 cup of the cold refrigerated strained broth PLUS 3 cups of water add to
pot.
Step 2. ADD AGAR AGAR powder to the cold broth and water in pot… Bring to a full
BOIL while STIRRING CONSTANTLY. until its fully hydrated.
Step 3. Reduce the Heat to medium and let it simmer for 2-3 mins. KEEP STIRRING!
Step 4. Add the mushrooms you separated and cut up from the veggie broth
Step 5. Add some jarred Jalapeños, Green Olives w/Pimentos sliced
*just enough to make a nice amount in the mixture. or if you want lots of
everything in you Vegan hothead cheese go for it…
Step 6. Bring the pot back to a simmer. approximately 1 min. or so.
Step 7. Pour into molds/container that will give you the Loaf size of hothead cheese
you want. I used a small glass dish for my mold.
Step 8. Let cool to set or put in fridge until set.
Step 9. Slice and serve with your favorite crackers. (taste great with Vegan type Ritz).

This video is a little dated but when I tell you these Vitilings are the exact replica of the real thing without the stinky smell. Oh my goodness I made these last night and had cold slaw on top. I didn’t know what to do with myself I was like just wait one darn minute these have the same texture and taste where have you been my whole life. Anyone wondering yes these are the truth. The whole recipe just tweak it to your taste.

Do you use half of the width of the towel for the sleeves? Do you cut it in half and then half again?

Same, only nobody liked them . I even had plenty the next day (cause nobody liked them) and tried different ways to yum then up (admittedly, I didn’t have grapeseed oil but I did have various other kinds) and nothing worked. 😞

I'm confused how you put the two towels together and cut and sewed then, it went kinda fast.
I’m glad I’m not the only one and I try to keep in mind that she’s making a smaller version as to not confuse us lol it’s 21 inches long but what about the width I don’t know I guess I’ll figure it out I’m not using bath sheets I’m using just regular material towel material I will try to make it work just a few confusing things other than that this is a great video some things are very confusing though
rewind the video then choose half speed so you can watch it slower if you need to but it's one seam down the back
