@@stev8160 Its built a little too well, everything has to be completely destroyed in order to get anywhere, but I’ll enjoy rebuilding her. I may post some time lapse. I like to watch the progress myself.

I’m going back to Alaska in May. I’ll make a tour of the boat video then. She’s a Diesel Duck 49. I eliminated the fly bridge and sail plan.
@@stev8160 love the Ducks. It looks like you have done an amazing job on it. If you head south again, stop into Comox on Vancouver Island. I’d love to see it in person. It was great to watch you sail past our home town.

That looked brutal without any stabilization. Are you going to add any?
Probably not. I made it to Wrangell Alaska last August. I’m mostly going to cruise in SE Alaska where I won’t need them. If I do make another open ocean passage I will install paravane stabilizers.
@@stev8160 i know sea venture did their bulbous bow up that way. Lots of skilled workers up there who could do a paravane set up.
you must have run the coastline instead of off shore dropping off the continental shelf much smoother out there
Yes you are correct. Captain Brian decided to hug the coast due to high winds offshore. I would have preferred the off shore route and get the voyage over with sooner. Having said that, the four day non stop portion from Ft Bragg, CA to Neah Bay, WA was exhausting since it was just the two of us taking turns on watch.

Yes I’m planning a boat tour video when I return to Alaska next year.
I was wanting a Duck being a great fan of there design and coming from sailing. Problem was when wife got involved, lol. I now have a Nordhavn 60.
Nordhavns are wonderful boats. I especially like the 47 & 52.

What did it cost to dock in wrangle?
My dry storage is $293 a month plus metered power. The visitor dock was $30 something a day. Very reasonable compared to San Diego.
How do you handle security without being able to carry weapons?
Canada will allow you to carry a shotgun on board. You have to declare it when you check in. For this trip we didn’t have any firearms on board but we also never made landfall until we arrived in Wrangell. I usually carry a 44 magnum revolver while in Alaska.
I boated around that same area for 30 years. Security? Never saw any need for it. The concern is weather.
My only security concern is brown bears when I’m fishing on land.
We have never had any issues in Canada or Mexico.

Gorgeous trip Mark! I will be honest and say I thought you were crazy for building an "ark" but you did an amazing job! Jealous of all the adventures you have ahead of you.
