    Can the stove jack fit a 5” diameter stove pipe like on a Kni-Co Packer?

    • @CodyMartinOutdoors
      @CodyMartinOutdoors 20 днів тому

      The stove jack hole in the Solo Homestead measures 3 and 3/4 inches unmodified. If you modify the hole by cutting 4 slits to accommodate a bigger stove pipe the material measures about 6 and 1/2 inches from velcro to velcro. I'd say if the intended stove jack is 5" in diameter i think you'd be safe by cutting slits and sliding the stove pipe through.there would still be plenty of fireproof material surrounding the stove pipe.

      For most of the hike bugs were not an issue. We went CCW and we stopped at Hay Creek at the base of Mcurdy mountain. When we setup camp there, we noticed there were Some mosquitos but still not even that bad. The camp was off trail approximately 20ft and also about 20ft from the small creek that was running. I also brought with me a flextail repel and it seemed to make a difference.

    Great video! Thanks! The memory in the chimney is formed best if you get it red hot. Next time you attach the chimney flip it upside down so both ends ge a good temper and it will take it's shape much easier. If you role the chimney at a angle like a long funnel / cone shape putting all of the rings on the narrow end then work the rings up the chimney as you shape the whole chimney it works well ( not my idea).

    have the old style army shelter halves. want to do the mods to them to improve the shelter halves into a wedge tent. plus don't want to spend the money for a wedge tent in full canvas. then i found this one from onetigris an it's sister. your video does a good job of showing the setup. the one con i see is the floor is not of the bathtub design, which is probably needed for the stove. now where would the stove go??

      Fantastic! I lived in England not too recently for 5 years! Loved it! As for tips, I would upgrade the tent stakes. The included stakes are not bad but longer stakes will help keep its rigidity dependent upon where you set this up. I inow in UK it can be very windy ND this tent does have a high profile. Might be something to consider. Another step might be a screen insert where the stove jack goes. I saw another video where someone did this unless you plan to have a wood stove. This may keep the midges out. Thanks for the watch! I would absolutely appreciate the link!

I have had it up in the back yard once but have not had it out "Hot Tenting" yet. I will be to taking it camping in the Adirondacks this next weekend with my new Winnerwell Woodlander medium stove.
