The Dunes of Peril | A Filmmaking Exercise
My friend Tyndall and I are always arguing about whether Spielberg or Scorsese is a better filmmaker, so I decided to settle to beef the only way I know how: by making a movie about it.
Tyndall is an amazing filmmaker and you can view some of her work here: www.youtube.com/@TyndallDickinson
I shot this in Great Sand Dunes National Park over the summer, and it was really good filmmaking practice! I learned a lot about blocking and about doing the most you can with only a few shot setups. This was filmed the day after I finished my Indiana Jones video, so I took a lot of the lessons I learned about shot composition and camera placement from that and tried to apply them here. I had so much fun making this with my family!

SHOT FOR SHOT REMAKE - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Opening Scene
Переглядів 103 тис.3 місяці тому
I made this over the summer when visiting Arches National Park and the Indiana Jones Bed and Breakfast in Antonito, CO (Link below). As a massive Indiana Jones fan, creating this project was one of the most fun things I've ever done, and it taught me so much about filmmaking and camera placement. I'm extremely grateful to my family for standing out in the hot sun for hours to help me get these ...

The selector for a film festival is faced with difficulties as he struggles to find a film that doesn’t break any of the festival’s rules Aodhan and I (Ross) were asked to make a short video that explained the rules of the NH High School Film Festival, and this project evolved from there, growing to be much larger than we originally intended.

This is a short movie that I made in English class for a project where we had to design a piece of propaganda that would have been created by one of the characters in "Animal Farm". I decided to make mine from the perspective of Mr. Jones, who wanted to get his farm back after it was taken from him in the beginning of the novel. Commercials often use emotion to manipulate viewers, so that's wha...
This is a true labor of love and a demonstration of skill. The fact that I wasn't sure which was the real one until the horses showed up is a testament to the attention to detail you went through. Job well done.
Excellent work!
Pretty cool
I'll be honest for the first 40 seconds it's very hard to tell which was the real version, Bravo!
Thank you for making this. I really enjoyed it.
Surprised you don’t have more subscribers, definitely earned my like and subscription
Well done just tops thanks
Indiana Jones and the Search for the Holy Grail. LOL. But seriously... excellent work! I'm thinking of doing another Pasadena Jones adventure. I need to find this location. Nice to see someone who wants to do the work, and this was a lot of work, instead of being lazy and using AI. Color me impressed.
@@DennisMiller10 Yes please do another Pasadena Jones adventure!!! I’ve been binge watching all your videos, Kid Detectives is my favorite! So many great visual gags (That remote control car skateboard scene is especially top notch)
@@utopiafilms9633 So glad you enjoyed that. Kid Detectives was always my favorite as well. I've been wanting to do a new Pasadena Jones adventure for quite a long time, but 30 years later it's tough to find the energy. But hey, if Harrison Ford can do it at 80, I should be able to do it at 60. ;) Thanks for the encouragement.
You've got talent that's for sure. Thanks for making this.
Bruh, this is F'ing amazing
fantastic
this is exceptional!
OLD Film has a vibe, digital takes the movie magic away, filters willl never replicate old film, AI can though
Great work! Not many folks understand the passion we feel for going to these lengths! Wonderful job.
This is one of the coolest things i've seen on youtube. I wish many millions of views for you
What's the point of it?
Great work and idea 🔥🔥🔥🔥
_The Last Crusade_ but with 50% more schizophrenia 💀
Wow, this is impressive. Well done! 👍💪👊
The time of day on some of the shots though.... Other than that perfect
All of that work and still the original is still better.
Shame on all these people they are communist Satan worshiping pedophiles on their way to hell if they don’t receive Christ as their Lord and savior and repent of their sins and realize that homosexuality is a sin and Donald Trump is the best president ever
This is my favorite Ross film! I hope it tops the charts
Thank you!!! Based on its current 114 views, I 100% guarantee that this will be #1 on Trending within the next 24 hours.
ROSS YOU NEVER MISS!
Thanks Sophia!!!
Man this is so f incredible
2:22 the way those boulders in the cave slid down in 40 years 😮
well well well, lookie here. trying to play nice now? i'll be cordial in the comment section, but no promises for what comes next ...
Where are the horses
Wow! I havent seen a back to back release like this from utopia films in years! The analysis machine is in overdrive now!
Ross’s work is always so cinematic🤌🏻
I appreciate the compliment! Thanks Sean! 🙏
Not the threquel to dune I was expecting 😬
This video is unparalleled!
This is amazing. The amount of work that went into this, wow, great job!
HAHAHA good
You made a better version without horses being enslaved by humans. Respect.
Absolutely fantastic! Great work. 👍🏻👍🏻
fascinating how everything is the same but the plants
Amazingly done
Amazing
As a fan, congrats on all the effort put in this. There are here and there a few tweaks that needed to be made to be even more perfect, but it is a very, very, very good effort. Not sure if this is what you're going to pursuit, but congrats, since you're moving in the right direction. Nothing like to copy the masters to learn from them! Keep doing the work! Good luck! And thank you!
Well done m8
you have a future in film making, kid.
Why? We have much better version already. 😮
VERY VERY VERY GOD! Amazing Job!!!!!
That's just fantastic
"Illuminating" (In Sean Connery's voice) The RV and bugle moment got a laugh from me too. It seemed like only one shot was made too difficult perhaps because of a lack of a crane or access to a hill? The rest was exceptional. Bloody well done!
Impressive. Even the lighting matches almost exactly. Only one scene - the one scene around 1:30 - doesn't match with the elevation. That's very nice work. Congratulations.
It looks like like he cut out a whole section of the mountain and idk why.
I liked the Monty Python Holy Grail horse trick.
Nicely done!
4:45 That boulder 🪨 is scheduled to fall on the coyote at some point.
