Her singing style tends to open her up to cracking, most singers have cracking but generally not on TV its unprofessional you have to know when your voice is having issues put the coke down lol She tends to go outside of her range which can lead to this as well

She may have gone through an illness/flu/bronchitis etc and not fully recovered. Maybe she was tired. There are many reasons why this could have happened, it doesn't take away from her talent❤

She and John Legend are each other's version of the other. They can write, play the piano, but they just weren't blessed with the greatest pipes. It's worse for her because she's up against such ludicrously high ranges in the other female pop singers, and she strains SO bad for a professional singer. It sems odd to me that her technique or approach wouldn't be better at this point. You can have limited range, and questionable technique, even be unable to sing something like the National Anthem whatsoever - but if you have a unique and catchy sound with character, you'll do better than a million other people who can "sing" but no one is moved off the needle by your voice. I'd rather be Tom Petty, Mick Jagger, Geddy Lee, or Rod Stewart or Liam Gallagher than the lead in the local church choir who hits every note and sounds like a million other singers.
