My eyes keep opening wider and wider to everything about this world I live close to dc and I feel bad energy every time I pass by the pencil or the White House. Many European locomotives have circular controller to adjust power output. Alstom locomotives and especially TGVs up to Réseau / Thalys PBA use that "wheel" for both power output regulation but also for dynamic brake. Underneath is smaller lever which selects operation mode (In France they call it F-0-T). See function list below. So for instance if you are in traction mode and you turn wheel, you add more power, if you are in dynamic brake mode, you adjust braking force without using air brake (however dynamic brake will engage automatically if brake cylinder pressure increase is registred) F = Freinage / Dynamic braking 0 = Neutral (Required to change reverser position) T = Traction (Manual power regulation) Cruise control setup speed range
