Golf Sidekick suggests THIS to improve your golf scores!
I messaged @GolfSidekick to help my Golf game, and this is what he said…
In part 2 of this mini-series, Golf Sidekick suggests the use of Short Term Goals to quieten my mind and focus more on what is infront of me and less about my score! Due to this, I can think more about the process of scoring, rather than the score itself!
Thank you to @GolfSidekick for taking the time to message me back and for his expertise on Golf course management.
Let me know in the comments if you use something similar or resonate with my struggles! Make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss the next one.

Golf Sidekick suggests THIS method to lower your handicap… (4 Club Challenge)
Переглядів 13 тис.3 місяці тому
I started the season on a 8 handicap and I am currently 11.5… throughout this series, I’m looking to turn my Golf game around. Nothing seems to be working so far, so I asked an expert for some help… Golf Sidekick (Matt) told me to play with only 4 Golf clubs. The reason for this is to lessen the decision making needed throughout your round and quieten your mind. The results through 9 holes tota...

I used the JumboMax Golf Grips on my entire bag for 10 rounds, and this is what I discovered… After using the grips for the first time, I felt extremely positive. I subsequently put out a video sharing my initial thoughts and left the range with excitement about improvements to my Golf game. Unfortunately, this did not work out the way I had planned. After 10 rounds, I have mixed feelings about...

At a difficult part in my ‘Golf Journey’, I thought it was important to look at my game in a little more detail and analyse where I think I’m going wrong. I’m sure most Golfers have been in this spot before where you just can’t put a good score together. Whether it’s swing mechanics, course management or just poor mental game… we all go through these rough patches. For me, I think consistency a...

Heard nothing but good things from Takomo irons. Such a great deal for today’s golfer
This is a stunning course
Looks like me except im tappin in for bogey
This quite spooky. This popped up randomly today. I've been struggling with my gold because of a bad back and arthritic fingers. On Thursday I decided to try a a baseball grip. It felt so much more comfortable, and I suddenly started hitting the ball so much better. I'm going to stick with it and see how it goes. I also use midsize grips.
That’s great! Let me know how you get on in the future!
Safest club for me from the tee is 6 iron which I hit around 140 yards. My handicap is 25, but I split each hole into 130 yard chunks and add two putts to give my own target par for each hole. That normally gives a target score in the low 90s, or high 80s on a shorter course. Only time I ever note the S.I. is on the rare occasion I play a Comp.
Love it!
Look at the sky. When was sky like that normal? Think people.
Huh? 🤣
Brilliant video, I am a high handicapper. My 4 clubs and a putter are 16 degree hybrid, 11 wood at 26 degrees, 9 iron and 56 degree wedge. Simplicity is key 🏌️♂️🏌️♂️
Swing looks better then a 10 handicap
What a fascinating course, with a combination of links and parkland. You both have fantastic swings. Keep playing with him and your handicap will drop for sure. The most apparent differences were the putting and how often you were hitting out of the rough versus him out of the fairway. I did notice on 16 you made a tactical error near the green where you looked like you were trying to hit a precise shot to try get it close from out of the rough and ended up screwed next to the bunker. That's one where you should have recognized the situation/danger and just been playing to get it anywhere on the green. Not being critical - I recognize it because I've been known to make the same mistake.
Thanks for the comment! I’m glad you enjoyed it
I did the fitting and it said I needed Large because of my hook. I don't always have a hook but that was my miss at the time. Put them on and it seemed to help. Ended up getting clubs tweaked and found out that they were way too upright so that was why I had the hook, miss left, that I had. Now with the clubs tweaked and the larges on...I now have, what I'll call, a swooping fade. Not a baby fade and not a slice. So I took the grip fitting again and now it says I need a Small. Gonna grab a few and try them over the winter. I do have the larges on my wedges and I really like them. I have the large on my driver and I may go to a medium just to get my hands a little more into them. I will say that I have an UltraLite-Medium on my 9-iron and I have be chipping very well with it so I may end up going up a size but I'm open to trying the small like the fitting suggested. Are they for everyone? No. I would highly recommend looking at the lies of your irons before you buy. Your miss left, or right, could because of your lie angle being too upright or too flat.
I have arthritis in my hands and have ordered Jumbomax STR8 Ultralight Medium grips because my current midsized grips leave my hands aching after a round. I go into the experiment with the understanding that hitting right may be an issue as my current miss is a push/fade. Although my HC might go up at first, I'm hoping that I can adjust with practice and bring it back down and finally play with less pain.
I use the Vice Pro Air. Great ball and a good fit for a senior golfer. Compression of 75 . Lots of color offerings. Very pleased. I am making sure I keep them in stock.
I'm fron New York but I have family that live about 40 minutes drive from Oban. I remember seeing this course on someone's channel with Robert McIntyre a while ago and through searching I've found your video. What a beautiful little golf course, I'm definitely going to play there next time I'm visiting the area. Definitely a challenge with all the blind shots! I watch a ton of YT golf so you've gained a new sub here. Keep up the good work!
Hey! 👋🏼 I would 100% recommend playing it… it’s so cool. I wish I could have played it multiple times whilst visiting. Hopefully I can score a bit better when I get to play it again 🤣
This is stupid. That’s not how you play golf, your supposed to take a divot 😭
The grippy wet muddy clay soil ruined my round the other week so I can see why people use this, especially in British winter golf
Topping those balls often? Just bring a half inch of fake turf and you’ll never top again. 💀
You over fade the ball when you get quick at the top. And when your tempo is good you hit a straighter ball and even a draw. I'd imagine your grip pressure is more lax when you're hitting those draws too.
Why do we make Golf so difficult for ourselves?🤔
Lower flight with a slight fade? Those two things don't really go together. Generally when you hit a cut the ball flight is higher. Did you ever check the swing weight before and after you installed them.?
I never listen to people about equipment, golf is such an individual game, that you must experiment with what you feel comfortable with
Great video Sam👍⛳
My home course for 3 years….. Best I ever shot was a 64 with 4 birdies…. ⛳️🏴
My handicap went up from a 11 to 16 when I added them to my clubs. Worst idea ever
I’m 5’11” would a longer shaft benefit me and I’m just over a 10 cap, but my irons are my best part of my game, it’s my wedge approach’s that kill me would these suit me?
I do absolutely everything advised in this video, and I still can't break 80. Just can't stop the hole-wrecking bad shots. Sometimes you just need to be better at golf.
Im 1/2 baseball 1/2 golf grip gang. Overlap with baseball thumb. 4 handicap at my best.
Grips have and always will be a personal/subjective thing, use what works for you and avoid negativity towards what doesn't. Keep playing and look forward to future swings...
Very informative vid thanx G
This me!!!! 😂 glad you found it again brother 🤙🏼
After 24 years of playing I've quit golf. It's not the same anymore. Any and everybody with no knowledge of etiquette play now. It is no longer a gentleman's sport.
Congrats I knew you had it in you!

Oh I feel this. Started at a 7.8 and ended up at 12.6. I’ve only broken 80 once this season. Going to take this off-season to commit to my fitness and make some changes.
We’re in a similar boat then! It’s been tough… good luck!
Been super frustrating but I know it’s only a matter of time until I’m headed in the right direction. Would love to play a round with you sometime!
Good to see you trending in the positive direction with the scores and more importantly your mindset!
I think the hardest part is removing ego from golf. One time in perfect conditions using this particular club I hit it that far why not now?!
Fighting negative thoughts gives them fuel. Let them be there without a fuss and they’ll lose their grip, eventually. You can’t control them.
1:18 Like it how he says it’s easy and the third hole hits a bad shot which is about 3 inches from the water which would have meant he failed. Literally said how lucky the shot was 😂
You and I are in the same boat where my handicap is going down a little bit because I'm making some changes. Your drive is similar to mine and this video has helped me fix some of that ua-cam.com/video/jb5RSpEPbUo/v-deo.htmlsi=Orvbq20L0PqScPfL
I think whats having a huge impact aswell as golf sidekicks advice is your relaxed mind state whilst playing. Mental management aswell as game management is huge when it comes to golf. Loving the last 2 video's, cant wait forcthe next one 👍🏾
Brilliant! Glad you’re enjoying them.
there are so many different grips from JumboMax but unfortunately they only offer grip fitting in USA. I have just now order STR8 TECH M-size ultralight. Will update you after I get them

Big fan of gs. My two best improvement strategies were to follow his 666 routine and to get rid of my driver. Getting in the fairway from the tee is key.
Yeah I’ve tried the ‘no driver’ strategy before! It’s great for keeping yourself in play at all times!
My Short term goal is to Not 3 putt....Full Stop from Sydney Australia...well done
Great video fantastic Birdie on par 3, you gotta get a Birdie music for when u drop one...all GSK
I might have to! They are pretty rare so it’ll be a treat 🤣
Great video. I’m in same boat. I’ve looked at my game and I’m losing most shots on the mental side, driving distance and putting. Matt turned me onto GameForge and I watched a video on the mental side was if you have a prevention vs. promotion personality and how that impacts your golf game. I’m firmly in the prevention camp so my priority on putting is no three putts. I tend to not try new stuff because my priority is maintaining, not promoting. So my main short term goal in everything I do is “Not be afraid to fail” So I’m working on a slightly different driver swing and I’m leaning where to aim. So when the swing or aim doesn’t go exactly as planned I just go play the next shot (Something else I learned from Matt) I’m also learning AimPoint and my short term goal is to read the putt with my feet and for putts inside 20’ try not to leave the ball short (this is a big deal because it conflicts with my prevention side of no 3 putts). On the mental side my short term goal is follow Matt’s advice. My mantra as I’m approaching my ball is: “Follow the Process” One of my other short term goals is to have a consistent pre-shot routine.
Love the detail on this comment! Thanks man. I NEED to learn Aimpoint too… any videos you would recommend?
@@SamKingGolf Matt’s video was a start. I subscribed to GameForge/FuelGolf and there’s few coaches seminars there. To be truthful I’m not sure if the fingers thing works for me. But what does work is using your feet to feel the break. One of the things I took from Matt’s video’s on the mental side was I told myself “I can’t read greens” and used it as an excuse. So I decided to redo my putting warm-up and do most of my warm-up my dropping balls around the hole, reading the green before each putt and actual practice reading greens. Guess what if you practice something you get better. (I have no depth perception so I was baffled looking for breaks). Best thing you can do is get a level and find a 1% lope< s 2% slope, a 3% slope, and a 4% slope and feel the slope.
Whats the name of the Gameforge video you watched on the mental game. Would love to watch that myself.
Can I have the old grips ❤
Golf sidekick is the BOAT of UA-cam golf! I just broke 90 for the first time 2 days ago after watching him for a couple months and struggling to even break 100. He’s helped my game more than anything!
