Tracker Classic XL Garage Storage Measurments
Why did you coose to move the battery?
Any updates on cracked welds ??
Picking my boat up tomorrow morning. My garage is the same measurements at 19 foot 4 Inches. Guess it will fit been dreadful of paying for storage my son wants to go fishing so we got a boat and we’ll make the best of it.
I have a 24 tracker pro 170 how did you reach to bolt this underneath or are they just screws?
What gauge is factory?
I’ve run all day on mine and it’s tough to burn over 3 gallons. Amazing boat at a fraction of the cost. Lots of extra money for gear
How fast a boat runs is real important.
Hey man any issues with the welds cracking without using an aluminum plate ?
You wanted to SHOW it to us, but while wearing it, you NEVER turned around to show us the back. ???? I gave you a thumbs up anyway.
Docking stick
I have 55 lb one works great on my 2020 classic tracker
Hey Jim thinking about a reconditioned motor like yours.. how has the motor worked for you ? Do you like the 12 v power? 👊
Thanks for the video. How have they held up?
Quite well but havent used them often, the water level has been so low here that the boat is most often below the pier. lol
Get ethernet wire and link them
Have you had any issues with the front welds cracking ? I know that’s been a big issue for a lot of people with this boat….im asking because I’m getting ready to install one. THANKS
I have not. I concerns me as well. I do have a support on the trolling motor shaft during storage when trailering just in case
Thanks for the video!
I fish Petaluma and Napa River. I was wanting to upgrade and thought it was cheaper and simpler to upgrade to 12 V Riptide Terra Nova 55 lb. I have a friend who just recently set up his Boston Whaler with one. He loves his but power wise, it's not enough for windy, heavy tide days. So I have a 2020 Tracker Classic XL with a Minn Kota Edge 45 lb. It's fine for most fishing but I like to get the iSpot up grade and really thinking for tidal water and winds I need to get a minimum of 24 volt Minn Kota Riptide Terra Nova 80 lb. They say it's better to have more power than not enough when you trying to stay on the fish. Plus the more efficient use of power feature seems like a big plus. I am not concerned with the wire gauge but if that is a big issue, I would cut a box upfront and run it separate directly to trolling motor. I understand it's not too seriously hard to do but I like that it's "fresh space" and not having to run wiring from back plus add another battery to a crowded space. (I changed 6 to 12 gallon fuel tank.)
Don’t do it the terova is a horrible motor. Difficult to deploy especially the older you get. If you must there is no difference between the power of the 55 or 80 pound thrust. I’m getting rid of mine and get a pull rope type 12V Minn Kota.
Seems like a uncommon opinion. No issues with mine.
They are 136.96 now holy cow they have gone up on the spare tire price
Because. Why not! Ridiculous
Miss your videos love content very helpful
Thanks. Been a busy few years. Hopefully some more free time soon.
The bracket should be steel not aluminum.
looked it up on Minn Kotas website to verify it is indeed extruded Aluminum.
Disagree respectfully because steel rusts and aluminum doesn't rust.
Take that trailer to a workshop and cut off that useless bent mounting bracket. Then get a solid bracket professionally welded on to the trailer that perfectly fits the ratchet strap housing.
How does it work with the spot lock on?
Really good video, just what I was looking for,, Thanks
Thank you. I've been considering this boat, but have same issue. Solves my problem.
I love the idea of ease of use for some things! But keeping in mind that tie down straps are designed to keep your boat from bouncing on the bunk during transport and not to keep it tied down during an traffic collision I don’t see the benefit of spending the extra cash.
I did not personally buy them for any added tie down capabilities. I simply want something that stays attached to the trailer so I have one less thing to store and go get. Worth it for me.
@@justjimtime1672 I understand that, I’ve left enough on the ramp in my days😉
Where did you put your front nav light. Cant see it. Thanks
It’s a foot long removable oem light that only goes in the socket up front when needed.
Excellent!
Dumb question. Lol why not just leave the plug in?
Well, you could leave it in, but it's a good practice to leave the plug out when its not in the water to drain any water that might have gotten in the boat while boating as well as any rain water from traveling. I've always been in the habit to put it before launching and take out after pulling the boat out. Either way, if you have to take the plug out ever to drain water, you wont lose it.
@@justjimtime1672 ive always done the same especially with riveted boats. But being a new boat & allweld i dont see a point in taking the plug out everytime. But definitely doesnt hurt
@@shooter3288 To each his own, I think its probably pretty standard procedure. Your question made me wonder if I was following some old misguided rules from 30 years ago that's unnecessary, so I did a quick Internet search. Everything I found said pull the plug when not in water. One person said there are laws in some states (did not verify) that make it illegal to trailer a boat with the plug in due to invasive species. I read about many reasons to do it, which make sense to me. Good luck to you though
Ordered mine last week, 50hp with the cover, all in + tax and license $18,600 And that's with $2000 off sale.. welcome to 2023!
@Just Jim Time hey so i have another lowrance i want to install in the console. I have to put the new sonar transducer i know how to run that. But what about the power? Do i have to run the power cable all the way back to battery as well?
No, just splice it in to the same power the first finder is on. I would just make sure each finder was on their own fuse.
Where'd you find that phone mount clipped to the wind screen??
I think it was the Apple Store. It might be a Belkin product.
How did the 45 inch shaft length work out on the bass tracker! Thanks
Perfect. Any longer the head might have been outside the boat when stowed. Perfect in the water and perfect stowed
Just slightly bend mounting plate inward toward transom then bolt in ratchet handle and you’ll be clear of taillights
Approximately how much did you have to cut off from the bracket?
Unfortunately, I don't really remember, Hopefully you can get an idea from the video.
Do you have an install video for the 93 at the console?
It looks like i have a two part video on my account. I cant paste in the comments so you'll have to search my videos.
Wish I had bought one back then. The no haggle price plus prep and freight is now about $18,000
How is the pilot holding up as far as towing goes?
Towed great. Never had an issue but traded the pilot in last year.
@@justjimtime1672 I bought the same boat and have a 4 cylinder tacoma. Seems to be working fine, but I definitely notice I'm towing. Considering getting v6, but I don't want to buy a new truck in this market to be honest. Do you have any thoughts on that? Btw - thank you for the videos, they were very helpful!
I agree that now is bad time to buy a vehicle. Not only interest rates but the dealers are all adding more on top of msrp than ever before. I would think used if rates were lower until dealers are ready to deal again. Who knows when interest rates will drop. Definitely not in 2023. If your concerned about the wear on your truck in the mean time you could install a trans cooler. They are not that expensive and depending on the vehicle can be a DYI. With my 6 cylinder pilot I did not really even notice the boat.
@@justjimtime1672 a trans cooler is something that I'm heavily considering. I didn't know your pilot was a V6. Yes, my main concern is wear and tear. My towing capacity is 3500, so I'm under 80% but don't want to tear my truck up! I appreciate your time in answering my questions!
@@justjimtime1672 I know you aren't a towing expert, but you do seem knowledgeable. Do you think I should even be concerned about upgrading to a V6 tacoma, or do you think a 4cyl with a trans cooler would be good to go? Would like to just stick with what I have and not worry about it. Like I said, main thing is I just don't want to ruin the engine. A lot of this is new to me as far as towing larger boats. I tried to find a way to direct message you, but couldn't find a way.
I’m getting ready to get the same trolling motor for my 2000 Bass Tracker. I’m going to attempt the install myself. How do you like it?
It been great. Nice not needing an anchor. Never even put one in my boat. Spot lock works perfectly. Auto pilot is great too. Set it and forget it. Just fish.
I’m getting ready to get the same trolling motor for my 2000 Bass Tracker. I’m going to attempt the install myself. How do you like it?
When I went to install my garmin unit I used the same wires that the Lowrance used (Red/purple) to red and black to black. My unit never came on. Tested it on another power source and it came on. Thought maybe a bad splice, so I respliced it.... still nothing. I know that the Lowrance was working before I cut power and ground. I checked all fuses and everything was good. All of the dash accessories work too, livewell, horn, nav..... I guess I'm just going to run a dedicated wire from the battery.... anyone else have this issue? Driving me crazy.
how did you remove the door for the front compartment ?
I don’t remember if I did.
I assume your talking about while installing battery. Other than that I left it on. Open it when charging
I see you have a battery in the front compartment under the seat . is there enough room for 2 ? Did you use the factory wiring to run the charging up from the rear ?
I think there would be room for two batteries and I did use the factory wiring for the charger in the back to the battery in the front. If you put two batteries in that compartment though Im not sure how you would charge the second one, Since there is only one set of wires from the back. Ive heard its not easy running new wires from the back to the front but I have never tried. Probably easier with the smaller gauge required for the charger than the battery itself though
Would the holes for the lowrance transducer line up with the new Garmin mount. Did you drill completely thru the transom. If not then why the silicone
no they will not line up and i wasn't expecting it to be a solid piece of aluminum. Could be hollow or have a filler material. I don't remember honestly but I would use silicone every time
Hi from Turkey Jim, can you make spot locking for your Minn Kota with your Garmin device? I have got Garmin 1223xsv with Airmar SS175M transducer. When I checked the websites and forums about this issue I can't find an answer about it. Can we use Garmin devices for spot locking like Humminbirds with Minn Kota?
No. Unfortunately you can not. Not only would you need a Humminbird. You would also need the more Minn Kota model that has the capability
You have to have a Mini kota Ipilot LINK with a Hummingbird
Cost me 40 dollars in electricity to run my smoker. Thanks again Joe!!!
Ya I purchased this same pork shoulder. It cost me 75 dollars. Thanks Joe!!!
hey Jim, your videos have helped me out a lot with my Classic. hope you are well. Wondered what you do to winterize your boat? mine stays outside all winter. Im up North.
Doing great. Thanks for asking. All I do to winterize my boat is change the motor oil, change the lower unit oil, and keep the on board charger plugged in to keep the batteries maintained. My garage usually doesn't get to cold for very long in the winter, might occasionally get below 30. I have been concerned that water might be trapped in the lines for the live well. Could blow them out or maybe use rv antifreeze in the to be on the safe side. Good luck
Water in the bilge/ livewell hoses shouldn’t be an issue. They’ll flex and expand. I empty the gas, or leave about a gallon, add some stabil and let the engine run for a few minutes. I fully charge the batteries, then disconnect them completely. I stow the motor in the down position, then wipe down all fuel lines inside and out with WD40. I think that’s about it
Nice job, thanks for making this video!
This may be a silly question … but were you able to run both units when you had the stock classic batteries? I’m about to install a 93 at the bow and another 93 at the console. I want to use the stock batteries if possible. I may even add livescope later - which may require a battery upgrade. I’m just not that familiar with it. I’m trying to learn.
yes no problem. I use AGM for the trolling motor but I am still using the stock battery for the starting battery, which I believe the fish finders both run off of. I have had no issues
@@justjimtime1672 that’s great news. Thanks for the video and the reply.
