Does it comes with storage or we shld buy separately?
The enclosure doesn't come with the ssd card. It accepts the M.2 NVMe 2230 size SSD card. There are several brands ranging from $69 for a 1 TB card to around $230 for a 2 TB card depending on brand and speed. Thanks for watching!
Will it work with standard iPhone 15?😊
I believe the enclosure and ssd will work with the standard iPhone 15 however standard iPhone 15 doesn't record in ProRes. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Thx for the review
Thanks for watching!
Hi, nice review (the original video) but i feel like u have alot to learn about ssd and the external cases. 1. U will never get 5GB/s (40Gbps) on a TB, some of the bandwidth is reserved for display out put and TB4 maximum bandwidth for file transfer is 3.8GB/s 2. The case u got use the old intel TB3 (JHL7440) chip that is limited to 2.8-2.9GB/s if all the stars aligned. The asm2464 is much better and can get up to 3.8GB/s 3. The ssd u are using have QLD nand and that is super slow for long write (that ssd is the reason i found that review, wanted to see how bad it is and if it would be better to spend about 50$ more for TLC ssd. 4. With all the reviews i have seen of external ssd cases i have never seen a mac reach the limit of 3.8gb/s r/w, i think they have a lower internal limit...
Thanks for the information and thanks for watching! Although I'm 71 years old I'm always wanting to learn new things. I have in fact already ordered and received a WD SN850X 4TB card to see if it was that much better. The review for that will be coming shortly. I was not aware of the difference between QLC and TLC (in fact I didn't know the designations) and didn't know that the SN850X I ordered was a TLC. I have done a little reading on the subject and will be interested in the outcome of the review.
@ed-tech-review i have posted 2 comments for that comment with links to a video and a blog with a lot of information about the topic but i think youtube blocked them. and yes, some QLC can go lower then 200MB's (yes 200MB/s) on a sustained write, look at the review of the Orico O7000 at techpowerup page 6. all modern SSD first use the drive as SLC, write about 25% and then start to "fold" it to TLC/QLC so it affect only long writes. (it reset after the drive is in rest and then it use 25% of its new remaining free space as SLC)
I am from Iraq and I want to thank you for the valuable information you mentioned.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Treedix has a reasonably-priced Type-C cable tester, all 24 lines plus shield.
Thanks! Ill have to check it out!
thanks for deep review,
Please remember that the cable that comes with this enclosure is a Thunderbolt 3 cable, so to get thunderbolt 4 speeds and compatibility you will need to buy a separate Thunderbolt 4 cable.
Thanks for the tip! It just so happens that I ordered TB4 cables from Amazon and they are due today. I'll take a look to see if I can get more speed. The cables I ordered are Maxonar brand because they are cheap! I'll stop by the Apple Store and get one of theirs as well just for comparison!
@@ed-tech-review and what are the results?
Thank you very much
You're welcome. I have a test of a different MagSafe SSD Enclosure coming up shortly.
I would love to have the Motion mRoto AI. However their monthly subscription I consider a real rip off. No way I will spend that amount of money.
Thanks 👍
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching.
Okay 👍
Thanks for sharing your adventures, Ed. You produce content that I find interesting, informative, and entertaining. I've subbed. A couple days ago I assembled the TBU405PRO with a 1TB WD Black SN770 Gen 4 NVMe 2280. ua-cam.com/video/TZqEQzkT8TE/v-deo.htmlsi=TMQFYLDnrvQ9_DkT I'm using this enclosure/ssd with a PC laptop that has 2TB internal ssd (SK Hynix NVMe) and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. I used Crystal Disk Mark software to test the speeds. My internal ssd is blazingly fast at around 7000 MB/s and the external was great at around 3000 MB/s. It's my opinion that the 40Gbs enclosures top out around 3000 MB/s no matter which ssd you install, so it might be a waste of money choosing an ssd rated over about 4000 MB/s. That's just my opinion after watching a bunch of these types of tests. I think even if you install the fastest gen 4 ssd, and use Thunderbolt 4 cables and ports, about the fastest transfer speeds you can expect are around 3000 MB/s. Thunderbolt 5 is rumored to be 10 times faster when it drops.😮🤯 I'm just a hobbyist and don't NEED these speeds, but it's a little like horsepower in a car. I like to have the most I can afford even if I rarely use it...🤔😆
great review, wholesome content, subbed
Glad to hear you liked it! Thanks for the sub and thanks for watching!
Once again no mention of the case model
Sorry for the oversight. The model is TBU405 Pro. I got it from Amazon: www.amazon.com/Enclosure-Cooling-Installation-M1-Compatible/dp/B0C8CZB5S7?th=1 Thanks for watching!
It's always going to be slower on MAC. Just do a speed test on PC and.. allot faster.. talk to apple
Thanks for watching. Currently I don't own a PC. I may get one just from testing but I've been using MAC since 1992 and do like the system.

Lovely video thanks. Did you use both thermal pads or only one? If only one, which one? Thanks again.
Thanks for watching. I only used the .5 MM thermal pad.
What a great video! Thanx a lot.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
I’m not sure if you can help me. I’m not using the DJI Mike but I do have wireless mics and I also have a shotgun mic and for some reason my 15 Pro Max will not recognize them and if it does, the playback has terrible echo I’ve searched everywhere on the Internet and from what I can see I must be the only person in this world that has had this problem. It’s unfortunate because I upgraded for the camera quality on projects but seem to of lost audio quality completely as a result. I have all Apple certified adapters for the usb c to 3.5 and usb c to usb c for my wireless, I’ve tried mono and stereo settings to see if that made a difference it doesn’t and I’ve reset all usb hundreds of times and tried both headphones and other device as options.
Mic. Sorry talk to text
Hi Tommy. I'll see if we can figure it out. The native camera app should select a mic connected to the USB C automatically. The native app doesn't have a way to manually select the audio source. Have you tried any other camera app? The BlackMagic app for example will allow you to select the internal mic, the USB C mic or a bluetooth mic in the audio settings. Beast cam will allow you to select the internal mic of your choice (front, back or bottom) or the USB C mic. Let me know if this helped and thanks for watching!
@@ed-tech-review I tried BC and the only microphone that shows up is the default iPhone one and I’ve tried three different ones. So I’m honestly not sure.
Is the cable usb-c to usb-c so will not work on iPhone 12 Pro Max?
The cable is usb c on both ends. I don't have my iPhone 12 Pro Max any more but I don't think that model iPhone will record ProRes. I do think you can get a lightning to usb c adaptor which might work for external storage for regular video but I haven't tried it myself.
@@ed-tech-review the 12 Pro Max is capable of 4K. Wouldn’t it be beneficial to film that directly onto external ssd due to file size etc?
@@alansibley Sure, recording directly to external ssd will save space on the iPhone. I think you might be able to use this with the MagSafe on you 12 ProMax. I would try getting the adapter first and testing it with an external ssd before ordering the Acasis 2230 enclosure and an ssd card for it. I sold my 12 ProMax when I got the 14 ProMax but from now on I'm keeping all my iPhones I think. I use both the 14 ProMax and the 15 ProMax when recording videos and I really don't get that much when I sell an old one. Thanks for watching and I hope it works out for you. Let me know how it works please.
Thank you, did you use both strips in the end ? Or should I order more strips , would a 3 mm strip be better than having a sum of 1.5 mm ? Thank you.
In the end I only used the 1.0 mm strip and it's working great. I do keep the fan funning when I'm editing video and the case stays pretty much at room temperature. Thanks for watching!
Nice review. The mic test sounds the same to me, I wonder if it's really coming from the earbuds or the phone itself.
I think I had them connected correctly but just to be sure I'll try them out again. I set a reminder to do that tomorrow.
Hello Ed, thanks for the review! Keyper 2.0 (now 2.1) has also a object selection. Most of the time this works better than selecting person. All the best from The Netherlands 👋🏻
Thanks for watching! Yes, they do continue to improve Background Remover! I will probably do an updated review in the next week or so.
Those Cabelas lights are very tough.
Yes they are. I like it very much, my only complaint is it's a little large for every day carry in my pocket. I keep this light on my night stand in case anything goes bump!
Great review, Ed! Background music volume a little bit high for my taste!
Thanks for watching and thank you for the thought on the background music. I try to balance being able to hear the music without making it too loud because I know it is distracting if it is too loud. I agree it would have been good to have the music a couple of DB lower in this case.
PS: In watching the video again myself I noticed that in addition to having the music a little loud in my concluding recap I was a little "stiff" so I'll work on the as well! Have a great day!
I’m glad we’re talking about only your taste lol .. This is a classic review 😊
If both of them are the same price, than what should i get
Although I found the Beats uncomfortable they do offer better noise suppression. However, for convenience of use the AirPods fit in your pocket and I always have mine with me. I use them for music and they do have good noise cancellation but it's not perfect. Another thing I use them for a lot is telephone calls. So for on the go I suggest the AirPods, at home the Beats do give better noise cancellation. I hope this helps and thanks for watching. ... By the way, I did return the Beats and although I said in the video I couldn't see spending 600 bucks on the AirPods Max that is what I did in the end. I use them when I'm home working on the computer. They are comfortable and I like them a lot.
What’s yoru choice?
I personally prefer the AirPod Pro. I find the Beats Studio to be uncomfortable although they do provide better sound isolation. Due to the comfort issue I returned the Beats and bought the AirPod Max which I plan to review shortly. Hint: I have kept the AirPod Max and use it most of the time when I'm in my office. I still love the AirPod Pro for on the go. Thanks for watching!
@@ed-tech-review Thanks for the comment i'll buy air pods pro
@@atakan1913 I believe you'll enjoy them but please let me know how you like them.
thanks a lot sir
You're welcome and thank you for watching! I'm working on two more ssd enclosure reviews which should be uploaded in the next week.
179 at best buy today.
I expect they will continue to go down a little as time goes on. I think there will be a new version maybe as early as June 10th. Thanks for watching!
Which plugin is better in the end, Keyper or AI Background Remover? Thanks!
Hi Thomas, in my opinion I think Background Remover is better. They both struggle with lots of movement but Keyper is not as good. The best result is with mRotoAI but the biggest drawback with this one is the processing time increases dramatically with longer clips. Also, I don't like the subscription model and may not renew next year. Thanks for watching!
@@ed-tech-review Thanks so much! That seems to be the conclusion of some other UA-camrs as well. I'm really looking at Background Render at this point, but I'm gonna wait until after WWDC to see if Apple improves their native bg remover inside FCP, or perhaps their new iPad version will do it fabulously. Like you, I very much resist the subscription models, and for that reason not looking at mRotoAI at all at this point. I'd sooner spring for the iPad FCP subscription if that one is good. Thanks again! 🙏
I've been seeing a lot of reviews of the Acasis enclosure lately. Having to guess which thermal pad to use is a little unnerving for me. How well do they hold up?
Thanks for watching! I just used the standard pad that came with the SSD. One major reason I chose this enclosure was the fan. The noise is not a factor and the case stays absolutely cool to the touch.
Nice video, but you really don't need the background music
🙏thanks for this

@@ed-tech-review oh it seems you are overbusy.
Your video is very high quality but subscribe and views are not coming because your videos are not fully SEO, if you want I can help you. ❤🩹
I have these aoundpeats clear... the aoundpeats sound like $20 especially when u listen to female vocals. The airpods sound like $180 so if you care about your music and how it sounds the airpods sound far better. These 2 items both play music that's about all. The soundpeata don't sound anything like the air pods. If you have $180 and care about your sound you need the air pods. The soundpeats sound horrible.ij terms of sound quality and that's why they are $30. There is literally no way the sound quality compares, period. They sound like earbuds you get at 5 below. Trick yourself.if you want but if it were my $30 I would give it to Apple. They are far more accurate and enjoyable.
Thanks for watching! In the review I initally found the Soundpeats didn't produce the quality of audio I would want. However, after I ran the Equalization program on the Soundpeats app the base response was greatly improved. When I selected the "Base Boost" preset on the app I personally found the quality very good and as I said in the video as good as the AirPod Pro Gen II. I am a big fan of Apple Products and the AirPod Pro II is the fourth set of AirPods I have owned over the years. I just bought the AirPod Max and will be doing a review on them shortly. As far as the Soundpeats, the disadvantages I mentioned in the video include the fact that they don't integrate seamlessly with the Apple ecosystem, as well as they don't have the advanced features of the AirPods such as noise cancelation. That being said, they are a very inexpensive set and for anyone that can't justify more money for a better set they are a great choice. As far as female vocals, I just went back and listened to Prospero's Speech by Loreena McKennitt and compared them with the AirPods on that song and again I found the sound quality to be on the same level. Perhaps I'm just not the refined audiophile that you are.
@@ed-tech-review music isn't all about bass tho and female vocals sound horrible no matter what u do to eq them. That's an issue they don't sound anywhere close to airpods. The pixel buds a go on sale for like $70 and they sound 100x better
I respect that and I mostly hear the tinny and shrill vocals with female singers that have high vocals say Mariah Carey for example or Adele. I purchased these with my $ and I just wish they didn't sound so shrill personally. If u find them to sound good why buy something as expensive as airpods max? I love apple products so I really want to buy a set of beats studio buds plus but it does kind of scare me to spend $150 on earbuds that could stop working within a few weeks. I'm personally not sure if I'll risk it. I truT apple to make things right but almost no other company would I trust because you could be out $170 if they stop working in a month. Given that I'm honestly no sure what to do.
Hi Rich. I already owned the AirPod Pros and have been using them a long time. I got the original AirPods when they first came out. The reason I got to SoundPeats was just to do a review on them. I had no intention of using them long term. While I really like the AirPods Pro I now only use them when I'm out of the house. I bought the AirPods Max because my 13 year old step daughter's bedroom is just down the hall from my office. While the AirPods Pro have good noise cancelation they aren't good enough to block out Autumn when she is playing "music" or on the phone with her friends. The AirPods Max do an outstanding job of cancelling her out! I no longer hear a peep from her room! I still have to ask her to be quiet when I'm recording something. Thanks for watching! I hope you find just the right ear buds from your needs.
I got curious and looked it up. AirPods can out in September 2016 and I've been using one model or another since. I remember when I first got them there were several comments from others to the effect that I lost my wires to the earbuds.
Thanks for the review. Will never EVER do MotionVX subscription to use mRoboAI. I don't rent software from anyone.
Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching! They just released Keyper 2.0.1 and I really don't see any improvement in it.
No, it totally sucks. It has never produced anything that was worth a shit that I tried with it. It is the worst AI image generator out there. You're better off going to playground AI making what you want and then importing it in the Photoshop.

Thanks for the comparison - nicely done! 👍
Thanks for watching! I had high hopes for Background Remover and it is better than Keyper but still need improvement.
Well done and many thanks for doing this comparison. Keep up the good work! 👍 I also agree with you about subscription models - I generally won't use anything subscription based, hoping that someone will come up with an acceptable alternative. This has happened with Affinity Photo - a one off payment of €50 vs. Photoshop's very expensive subscription model.

The subscription is a huge turn off despite the accuracy on performance, I would rather switch to davinci resolve, and use their magic mask rather to pay for any subscription.
I hear you! I haven't had time or really desire to look at resolve but I should download the free version and take a look. I HATE the subscription model.
