I'm a retired Upholstery shop owner I did it for 50 plus years. The one thing I always did, was to use a handheld wire brush to remove the glue and old foam rubber padding. Never used a grinder wheel wire brush. It takes a little longer to do it that way but you won't be making un-wanted mistakes.

I have a commander that's got 165k on it compression is good on all 8 just leaks from main seal ...LoL...I got an XJ on 42s 120 wb and every mod but still runs a 4.0/aw4 I'm getting ready to get a new /used WK2 and the commander I put back together after hit by a box truck so it's a salvage title not worth much in sale so I figure use the engine, trans and wiring to V8 the XJ and part what's Left of the XK ... It'd be nice to be able to move again in high range . I've got a lot more under hood than you with my Ori strut towers so I'm going to run my battery in the cab with some 00 gauge and run my radiator in the cargo area above my fuel tank nothing under hood is in stock location now after the struts and I run full hydraulic steering ...LoL...my trans tunnel is already an aluminum box after cutting to make custom stuff ... Seems straight forward if running all the wiring from the original metal box the engine came out of . This is the only thing not modified in my crawler...might as well in the fall after wheeling season is done .

I got a hemi that I might use in my XJ might pull it from my commander and freshen it up. Not sure how wide s hemi is vs a 6.0 but I can cut the unirail if need be my XJ is actually mostly tube frame now the unibody isn't doing much the trans hump is already cut out a bit and obviously no stock suspension I think it's alit easier for me to drop in than someone trying to retain a factory XJ...just thinking right now it could be ls or hemi im the fall going wheeling for the summer on the 4.0 then the cussing begins around October

It's cool but unfortunately adding another grill on top of the factory will cause some obstruction of the airflow towards the radiator and engine

Where can I get myself a 64 by 64 piece of cloth to replace the headliner with? Wally here only has 72 x 44s....

Sometimes there's an additional fifth screw in the upper corner.

Hey man I'm stoked to follow this build. I've been going back and forth with this idea for a while now as I have an XJ and an 06 Hemi. Just been trying to convince myself to do it lol. If you ever get a minute and feel like doing a breakdown on issues you've run into, stuff to watch for, things you might change up or do differently... ya know lessons learned kinda stuff lol. I'd appreciate it! Hope your channel gets more traffic. Need to see some more swaps out there besides the LS! It's nice to see somethin different.

I've bought everything to do mine. Now a dumbass at work put me on work comp. Now on a to do list, which is put on hold. Thanks hoping my 2 boys will help. Just at a point where it's hard to supervise and not take over. I've done some upholstery by trial. Turned out great, but not walking someone through it. May just wait till I'm healed up.
