Saving Wine with Hydrogen Peroxide!
Переглядів 2,2 тис.9 років тому
I added too much potassium metabisulfite to my wine. Rather than tossing all the juice I thought I would try to add Hydrogen Peroxide to the wine to reduce the sulfates. I used this calculator to determine how much H2O2 to add: vinoenology.com/calculators/SO2-addition/
Did it work?
Yes, it did! The wine turned out Ok, not the best I have ever made, but more than drinkable. :)
Hi . Thanks for the video .very interesting how to change things. I guess as a sulphite sensitive person if I put a drop of the hydrogen peroxide 3% on my glass of wine it should transform the sulphite into sulphate and I would be ok to drink it ! What do u think? Thanks
Great video. So how did that wine turn out? Thanks.
He died from hydrogen peroxide poisoning
Thanks for sharing this video & information. I looked at the vinoenology calculator for SO2 reduction. How did you determine the target SO2 to be removed?
+Real_Brown a company called CHEMetrics manufactures a Ripper-method titration cells (Titrets). These are available at my local brewing shop they measure between 0 to 150 mg/L. Good Luck! I determined what amount was in my wine and then determined how much I wanted to remove based on the level that should be in that specific wine.
