Raised b is a unique tuning used by Dave Matthews on several songs - in order to make it sound just right, you need a custom set of strings. This feels like a big obstacle to some people, but it doesn’t need to be! If you can string your own guitar, and you have $15 to play with, you can get a set from Stringjoy and open up a whole new set of songs to add to your repertoire.

So...I have always wanted to play this song and I don't know why I thought it was difficult...thanks for laying it out perfectly easy to understand. I've been to 37 DMB concerts in my life and been playing for 25 years, so this was a looooong time coming to play this one for whatever reason.

What amp/setup are you using? Sounds so damn clean!! Obviously the guitar playing is excellent, too :) Well done man.
Thank you! My guitar has an LR Baggs Anthem SL, and that’s played through a Session Di pedal into the iRig HD X, which gets it to the Tonebridge app. I’ve changed my Tonebridge build since this recording, adding more compression and adjusting the gain down to clean up the sound even more. The real goal if you want to sound like Dave is to add a little reverb and keep the string dynamics as clear and punchy as possible. Hope this helps!

That is hands down the best cover of this song I have ever heard. I would say it's the best cover of ANY Dave song but there is one more that I think is as beautiful as yours, which is "The Stone" by Brandon Henderson (15 years ago). Please give it a listen as I'm sure you'll appreciate it. Your playing of this song is so accurate and amazing. I play this song also, but only parts of it. This motivates me to learn the whole thing, from you.

You're spot-on on the "Out of the darkness" part: Davetabs is a great resource but their part has way too many hammer-ones. The only true hammer-on I see is off the C-shape cord to start. When he plays the same shape of the weird F Chord shape he plays in Everyday, it's the transition (your word 'lazy' which I agree with :) to that chord on a Raised B guitar that creates that sound with his strumming. If you watch the solo version of this from the Gorge when Carter and Fonz had Covid, it matches up nicely to how you're playing. Nice work.
Amazing video man! Love this! I thing I've struggled with grey street is the stretchy fingering Dave uses when he plays those chords. I could never get a hang of it, but seeing you slide them made it more accessible
